Thank you Uniqueone, I am trying all the time to be the best teacher I can be to the children. My principal says she loves the way I am with the kids. The kids know I love them also. You cannot fool them. I am tired of dealing with parents. There are always some very unreasonable ones and they throw their opinions around more than the others. They seem to have a chip on their shoulder and we, the teacher seem to be the one they want to take it out on. We are now allowed any mistakes. Just like the teacher saying, how sad. I wonder if she regreated that as soon as she said it. No, we cannot say anything or make a mistake, not one. Well, every teacher I have met makes mistakes.

Hello to everyone, I have read all the posts, should say I have skimmed some. Lots of thoughts went through my mind. I know everyone is different. I know we all have our own thoughts and feelings about everything and while I read I felt emotions and wanted to write back but people kept doing that and it seemed to get worse. I know when I lash out I usually do not feel real good about my lashing. I am so far from perfect. I get up everyday and try again to be a beter person. I am sorry that something has made you bitter about life tits. I do think Christmas can be a very bad time for some people. Many suicides happen at this time of the year. It is so easy to go the bitter route and harder to be positive for most. My point....I have a lot of compassion for people that are bitter and unhappy. I wish I could help. I have an extremely bright 9 year old boy in my class that has been sexally molested by his mothers boyfriend, taken to his grandmothers who broke a plate over his head and then sent to his aunts which is where he lives now. This child accepts all this and still smiles and tells me, his teacher, he loves me. He keeps me grounded each day. He makes me wonder about life and how these things can happen to children. He told me one day he had had too much happen to him for a kid his age and I said I know Matthre but don't ever let it hold you back. This kid could hate Christmas and life and people but he doesn't. If I sound like I am preaching I am sorry. I guess I just want us all to stop and take a deep breath and back off. We never know what makes people the way they are. We never know what goes on in each household.

Well I am sorry I took so long to answer your question Jenny. I am at 195, 5'5" and I am not sure of what size I need yet. I am wearing my 18's in pants and tops. I might could wear a 16 but I am not buying any new clothes yet. I still have quite a few things in 18. I had like 3 sizes in my closet. I gained most of my weight in my torso area. My legs are very small so to get pants to fit me is hard. I was wearing size 20 before so I am down 1 size with the 26 lb. weight loss. My rings have gotten too big so I have lost weight in my hands too.

I too was on two Prilosec before surgery and a great comsumer of Tums. I have not had either since. Yea!!!!!!!!!

Well, I am 5'5". Is that close enough? I started at 222 2 months ago and am now at 196.

Okay I have had my third fill and not enough restriction. My first fill wa 4.9 ccs, 2nd was 1 more cc. I got light headed and sick to my stomach for some reason so we stopped at 1. The third fill was 1.6 more. that is 7 and one half cc's. What does it take? I am beginning to wonder if that is possible. I do not know my band size. I have asked twice and I did not get an answer either time. I ate a 6 inch sub from Subway and a bowl of vegetable soup and then found myself back in the kitchen eating a bowl of flavored oatmeal tonight. I know the band is there because I sometimes forget to chew and food gets slightly stuck. I am a little discouraged tonight. All I want to do is eat.<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig --> __________________ <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

Banster, how ae you? She told me the same thing about the 500 ccs. I found that a little hard to believe. I have the same band as you. They started using them after July.
-
Thanks guys. I can tell I have more restriction than before. I got an orange piece stuck and then a piece of boiled egg yesterday. I am still able to eat more than everyone says I should. Last night we went to a Christmas party and I am surprised how much I can eat. I ate a plate full of stuff. Two types of hamburgerand cheese wrapped in a dough, 3 tiny hot dogs wrapped in dough, 2 cookies, 3 chocolate wrapped pretzels, chesse ball with 6 crackers. Doesn't that seem like an awful lot. Since the surgery I have never felt full. I have been able to stop though half way through the meal sometimes so I am eating less. My weight loss has slowed way down. My question is if a piece of boiled egg got stuck that would suggest to me I am tighter. The orange and egg are the first two foods since surgery that got really stuck so I know I have more restriction. I have read of being too tight and it sounds horrible so I keep thinking just try harder. I sure do not want to sound whiny. I am basing on this on what I have heard about not being able to eat over 10 bites and I am able to eat much more than that yet food is getting stuck. Any suggestions are welcome. If I need to go get another fill I will just do not want to get too tight but sure want to lose weight!!!!!!! I was self pay so this is serious money I spent. Thanks everyone.

I can eat a 6 inch subway sandwich, a bowl of vegetable soup and then I ate a bowl of oatmeal, a peanut butter sandwich all last night.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?

BJean, they usually rent the plasma TV's and walk out and leave them to move to another place because they cannot afford their rent. I have never figured out how they get new places but sometimes they do. They also live with relatives until they get back on their feet and then start the process all over again. They all have cell phones and their numbers change like my hair color. We often cannot reach them because their phone has been cut off and then they go get another one. -

BJean, I use to feel exactly as you until I started working as a teacher. Each year my attitude changed. You would not believe, I guess, how much a teacher knows about a childs life. You all would be shocked at how much the children share about their lives. They worry. They tell their teacher. Not only do they tell me and all the other children how much their shoes cost, but where they bought them. Children are proud of their things and love to brag about them. They tell me when the police comes to get their daddy, about the fights their parents have, and they usually start it with...my momma said not to tell you. Other parents talk about other parents, other teachers share what they have learned the previous year when you are having problems with that same child or parent. Children share where therir parents work, when they quit, why they quit. They share when they get their welfare check and I even had one that brought the pay stub to school to show. I could go on and on. I had one mom that had free health insurance for her children. They went to the doctor more than I did and i am a diabetic. Now another FACT you might now believe. Parents now try to get their children to not do well so they can draw a SSI check. This one blows even me away. If the child is labeled a slow learner they can draw a montly check from social security. The teacher has to fill out a form telling all about the child. I have stopped a few checks...maybe because i told the truth about the child. These people usually rent and move often. They spend their welfare checks on expensive foods, then have none at the end of the month, they buy expensive shoes and clothes yet very seldom own a home. They also teach their children this is a normal way to live. They come to school every year without even a pencil or paper. Cost under a dollar. Yet the mother will carry a coach purse. Her hair will be very nicely groomed. I feel sorry for these people most of the time as I do not think they really know how others veiw them. I guess they are surviving the only way they know how. -
No sure if this is normal...please help!

I have not been sick so I do not know. Call you call your doctors office and ask? -
I was banded by Dr. Clay Wellborn on Sept 25, 2007 and have lost 26 lbs. He also found a hiatal hernia during the surgery and fixed it. I am very happy with him and his staff. He expressed that he believes it is not all our fault for being overweight. That is a first for me from a doctor. He seems to care. I went to Dr. Wellborn because a friend did. I do not know anything about the other doc here in Little Rock. I am sure you will be fine with either one.

L8Bloom, I have found that people who do not work in areas where they see the abuse of welfare do not understand it and do think we are just being bitter. I am a little resentful of these programs. I have worked all my life, 21 years of it as a teacher. I enjoy it most of the time but I sometimes wonder what it would be like to stay at home and draw a check. I work in a low socioeconomic school. We have parents lie every year about their income to get free lunches. They lie about not working and they are. Others share information they shouldn't, and then you learn a greal deal by observing them through out the year. I have also heard many ideas about what our government may do for illegal aliens and once again I think of my hard working mother that could use more help but can't get it. So.....I know abuse exsists. It is frustrating to me. -
My doctor is currently using 10cc bands. What are the differences in bands and why is there a difference? Is it just newer bands come out with different sizes?
-
Does anyone know why some 10cc's or 4cc's bands are used? It seems it woukld be easier to fill a 4cc and I was just banded and given a 100cc.
-
My doctor only uses the 10cc band now on everyone. His nurse said they were new and seemed excited about them so.....I guess I should of ask her what was good about them. Stacy. I have 5.9 but not enough restriction yet. I can eat anything. It still seems to signal me to stop about half way through what I would normally eat.

I am in the beginning of my journey and worry about having a sagging stomach. I started at 222 lbs. 5'5'', The majority of my weight is in my stomach. I plan to lose down to 145. That will be a 77 lb. weight loss. Is there anyone that lost that much and DID NOT have sagging skin? __________________

Wow! This could be a hot page. I am a teacher and a conservative. i see so much waste from the social programs and have for 21 years. I was so broke my first year and could not afford the HBO or showtime networks. 3/4 of my class was on free lunches and 1/2 my class had HBO or Showtime. I could go on and on about the waste and unfairness of social programs but you do not have the time to listen. I am tired of working to support other people that abuse these programs. My mother worked all her life, never had a college education. came from very poor background, and worked at low paying jobs all her life. She is now on social security and struggling. She cannot get near the help welfare people get. I help her instead. Something is very wrong with our welfare program. -

Discrimination Over Your Weight

I posted this as a comment to someone else's post and thought this might be an interesting topic with lots of controversy. Fee free to comment. I wanted to reply to this page because I have felt something from many young people that I want to share. I am 55. I am a teacher. I work with many young, thin women. The thing I have noticed as I have gotten older and heavier is the way they ignore us older teachers. (NOT ALL, BUT TOO MANY)Please understand they are not ignoring us on purpose. That is the saddest part. They just do not see us as someone to talk to. One of my coworkers is thin and young. Another is 60. Both dress beautifully. I dress good...I think too. As we enter the lounge everyday, the younger teachers compliment the younger one. No one seems to ever notice myself or the other older teacher no matter how good we look or what we where. This has happened for a long time now. I think it is so sad that people see only the outside and without even realizing it ignore the not as attractive people. They do not know they are doing it and probably would be horrified if I ever pointed it out which I would never do. I think this must be how older people feel sometimes. Unimportant. I hope I have never done this to someone but of course I wonder. What is really sad is that older people regardless of weight have so much to offer. So much experience. One day one of the very thin teachers came down the hall in the middle of winter with open toed shoes and a sleeveless top. As she talked she shivered and had goose bumps on her arms. When she left I looked at the other thin teacher she came to talk to and I said why would she wear no clothes on such a cold day. The teacher said do you really want to know. She wants to look cute. I was surprised and said aren't their cute warm clothes and she said she wants to show skin. I was surprised. and felt a little nieve about things of this nature. Comments welcomed. -

Oh my goodness. I love this page. I have 3 Pekingese. I stumbled upon the breed by accident. They are the sweetest dogs in the world...besides yours of course. They are lazy, loving, and funny. I wish I knew how to post pictures.

Does lg. weight loss mean tummy tuck?
SueSue replied to SueSue's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for posting, I have had 3 kids also. Last one 10 lbs. I am shorter than you and carried the kids in my stomach mostly so I guess the answer to my question is yes I will have sagging skin. My daughter has said you have not stretch marks mom, but I still think I will have to have a tummy tuck and I dread it. It was hard for me to do the lap band. I was afraid of waking up after surgery. (My grandfather did not) I have watched the biggest loser and it seems no one on that show has sagging skin. I know they work out tremendously but does that take care of the problem? PS Cannot see your picture as it is so small. You look good for what I can see though.
