    Pre op problem

personally, i think starting a couple of days late is fine...but i'm not always the best rule follower on this one ...you will find people who tell you that you aren't ready if you wont' give up those two days, but i don't believe that either.

    February sleevers

i found the IsoPure ready to drink Protein drinks really helpful to get protein in. They are clear and you can drink like Water and there are 40 g protein in each!
  6. my doc is the same way @BLERDgirl. again, funny how doctors are all so different

    I am HUNGRYYYYY!

I saw my doc today and he asked if I had already started pureed foods and I said...uh, I thought you were suppose to approve that today...lol. He basically told me to start adding in pureed and soft foods slowly as tolerated. He is super laid back and obviously not completely on the same pages as the nutritionists...lol I say this because yea...I was going NUTS on Protein shakes...couldn't choke down enough. Lucky for me they didn't even ask if I got 60 g every day or not, just if i was tolerating it all ok. hang in there!
  8. I don't get docs that push a certain brand...makes me suspicious that they are making money off of it somehow, esp since in reality, it doesn't matter - just so the stats are there
  9. I wanted something not chocolate, vanilla or strawberry. I went to Nashua Nutrition and they sell samples of TONS of brands and flavors. My favorites are the Syntrax for the kool aid type flavors. I also have liked the Isopure premade stuff -- like kool aid as well and 40 g Protein in one bottle! www.nashuanutrition.com

    Rant ????????????

I would also tell my actual doctor about the way she handled it...very unprofressional
  11. check out this page for some ideas http://gastricsleevefoodie.blogspot.ca/2010/07/week-2-post-op-quick-pureemushies.html?m=1

    Worried :(

i would be sure to call whoever you talk to in the surgeon's office about this and that you MUST have it before April 1. I would think that is fine...I was scheduled just two weeks out good luck!

    DISGUSTED WITH FOOD

you are right in time for the 30 day buyer's remorse! my surgeon and everyone in the office said it happens to 9/10 people...you are playing head games with yourself about gulping Water and fried food...forget it all - this is your new life and there are changes but they will be for the better in the long run! you need to try some different Proteins...chicken does not seem to agree with you right now - i mean, you are only 5 weeks out -- I would stick to what works, there is no reason to push yourself and try to force "normal " eating hang in there!
  14. ew....not on my schedule to do at all
  15. 1. How do you feel? Any issues? **I'm feeling really good! Moving around well - even went to the grocery store. Still can't lay down to sleep 2. How is your water/protein intake? **I've been struggling with my Protein and today I made a change and started drinking the couple Isopure's that I bought before the surgery more as Water and I've done well today 3. Have you had your first follow-up appt? How did it go? If not, when is your appt? **first follow-up is tomorrow! 4. What stage food are you on (full liquids, purees, etc.)? **full liquids...hoping to move to purees/soft foods tomorrow! 5. Have you hit buyer's remorse yet or still glad you did it? **no remorse here! still so glad I did it! 6. Lastly - how much have you lost since the surgery? **down 10 yesterday...we will see what the doc's say but I'm pleased!
  16. i had a head cold the day of my surgery...really stuffed up. i had been treating with sinex nasal spray and i was breathing clearly. i did not have a fever or swollen glands. also, after surgery i was on oxygen to start and that seemed to keep me clear until the day i was discharged
  17. i would shop online! i have seen prices there...just google one brand of Protein powder - like Syntrax and then you can check the site for others also check amazon...i've seen some decent prices there as well.
  18. 48 wish i would have done it 10 years ago

    4 day post op, Australia

@@Bigswiss where in ohio are you? I'm in cleveland!
  20. omg...that sounds like a lot of rules! honestly, i would just work on getting in the overall daily requirements...slowly. my NUT had said I should sip Water for 30 mins...then nothing for 30 mins...then Protein drink for 30 mins. I start with that premise but honestly, it doesn't always work. sometimes i am THIRSTY in that down 30 mins, so I drink. sometimes I am at the bottom half of a protein drink and run out before the 30 mins is up...I dont stress about it...I just try overall to take small, slow sips and work on overall requirements. and agree about the acid!
  21. i've never had a worry about becoming addicted to pain meds so I can't really relate. To me that is a huge leap...one, I've never even been close to making... I had dilaudid in the hospital and then liquid oxycodone at home -- and I used them both and have given them both up...no problems. good luck
  22. bruni

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet

I so agree! hang in there!

    4 days post op....

I have liquid Oxycodone. I've used it since I've been home because I'm a big pain wimp and I figure why should I be hurting if I don't need to? Anyway - when you can, take a tylenol with it. It will give you a headache alone and the tylenol helps with that as well as to activate - this combination is what percocet is...
  24. i had no advil or NSAIDS of any kind a week before the surgery...Tylenol is what you need to take instead
  25. I'm 4 days post op and haven't gotten on the scale yet. I'm kind of scared. They weighed me in the hospital the day after surgery and I was up 4 lbs - which I know is common after the surgery. I think I'm going to wait until 1 week post op and maybe weigh myself only every week....i don't want to get too caught up in the numbers but i'm anxious to see them come down. what do you do or what is your plan?
