Hi everyone! Sorry I have been mia....have just been tired and really crazy at work. I too find myself very tired. Seems I just can't get enough sleep. I am really hoping that the gas pains go away for everyone soon. I feel so blessed that mine were not bad. I never actually had any in my shoulder. I know how lucky I am! Yes, I can feel my post through my skin. It doesn't really stick out yet, but I have a feeling that it will the more weight I loose. Usually feel like I don't have much restriction, but I am doing my best to keep to the 2-3 oz portions. I am on liquids the rest of this week and all of next week. Then I do two weeks of chopped up food and one week of regular food. THEN I can get a fill. So annoying! I want to start loosing really consistenly. My surgeon won't even talk to me about a fill until another 5 1/2 weeks has passed! UGH! Ok, enough pitty party from me. Just frustrated.:cry Have a great day everyone and I will check back in later!

You are very welcome Janet! Glad everyone has enjoyed it. I thought it was just awesome! -
does it feel weird to be loosing weight?
Dancer replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totally agree with you! I forget to try stuff on b/c I keep thinking..."oh, that didn't fit this time last year"...then I try it on and it either fits or is already too big! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it, but it is going to be very hard to get used to! Yeah for us!:clap2: -
Good morning everyone! I hope that everyone is having a great day! Dena - Sorry you are in so much pain. I hope that you get relief soon. Hang in there and know that we are all here to support you!

I agree with you all. I called the OB/GYN yesterday afternoon and am waiting on a call back with a birh control prescription. Talked to hubby about it and while we don't like it, it really is the best option for now. The whole reason I did this was to loose weight and get healthy. I am only 3 weeks post op. I don't want to mess it up now! If I got pregnant before my first fill then it will be like starting all over! Period still has not arrived, so I am considering her a no show. First time ever...in my life! So weird. The nurse did say it was totally normal. I have read on other threads about the estrogen/progesteron releasing from the fat...guess I will have to do some more research on that...sounds interesting. Makes sense though since I have lost 15.5 in three weeks...my body is still trying to figure out what the heck I did to it!

No problem! I was so happy to find it! It was the first time I had actually seen the operation performed as well. I kept wondering why I had these scars in weird places...now I know!
-
Diane - That is my main concern! We do use natural family planning, but I think we have decided to go back on birth control. My PCP said that fertility rates go up (no joking) like 1000% after weight loss with the band...SCARY! He also called it the fertility band, too. My surgron also said that he gets a lot of patients refered to him from Fertility specialists. I sure hope my OB/GYN calls back soon!

I am so happy to find this topic! I am 3 weeks post op and I am about 3 days late, but know there is no way I could be pregnant...was in the hospital for two days and then home recovering when I ovulated. I am wondering if my period just might not show up??? Is it something I should call my GYN about? Thank you SOOO much for your opinions! I was getting worried b/c my body is usually like clock work!

Hello Everyone! Hope you are all having a good day. I was in another forum and found this link: http://www.ky3.com/news/2390996.html?autovid=Y It is a news story about a lady that had Lap Band. It is an excellent piece and thought you all might be interested! Have a great day!

Laura, Way to go girl! Keep up the great work! -
Go Gwendolyn!!!! Good job girl! Mikey - Glad to see you back on the board and things have gone so well for you.

Morning everyone! Welcome to the new February bandsters that have joined! You will love it! We are all so new and it is great support! Stacey - Congrats on the 20 lbs! Good job!!! Sunta - not sure sweety. I bet if you drink some extra water today it will be gone in the next couple of days. I imagine that was a shock to you this morning though! Hang in there! Gloria37- Congrats on the 26 lbs! Way to go! Janet - Thanks for you kind words. I hadn't thought of it the way you put it...he wouldn't be walking around tell if it was my time of the month...that cracked me up, but it is so true. If he just insists, I may suggest that we just tell her that I had my hyiatel (sp?) hernia repaired and leave it at that. By the way, where is your other half? How is he doing? I so wish my hubby would get this done. He would feel so much better. Post op went great yesterday! Doc was happy with everything I am doing and I am healing well. I was as nervous! Now I just have to get through 3 more weeks of liquids and then 2 weeks of food processor food and 1 week of regular food before I can get my first fill. :cry Talk about feeling like this will take forever! But I know that this is a marathon and not a sprint. The good news is that he said I can start working out. He said to do a little bit today and then see how I feel tomorrow. If I hurt, then stop doing it. I was excited about that. I don't care to work out, but for some reason I am bored and feel like a good walk would make me feel better!

Thanks for your support. Donna - I don't think you are pushy at all. We struggle with this in our marriage. He tells her everything...ok, not everything (thank goodness!). I just don't think I should have to tell. And who cares that my parents know. I only told them because for me it was important that they be with me the day of surgery. I really don't think I should ever have to tell them. Who cares if the notice my eating habits and question them. So what...I will deal with that. I guess I just needed to hear the support from everyone else! Ya'll really are the best! Thanks!:clap2:

I am right there with you all! I am down 14 lbs. since my surgery on 2/9/06. But I haven't lost anything in a week. I am still on liquids. I go for post op today.

Congrats to everyone! Once again we all seem to be doing so well! Would anyone mind a "me" post? :help: I have a dilema....My hubby is really wanting to tell his mother about my surgery. Says he feels like he is not being honest with her. Before surgery he said that he didn't want to deal with it and that we would tell her after. Now that it is over with he says that the waiting will cause a real problem when we tell his mom. I am very lucky and my husband's family and I are very close. But the thing is that his mom and sister are going to FREAK OUT! His sister has already told me that if I got it done that it was a bad idea and that she would be very mad at me. It just sucks because I didn't get this much grief from my family! And I am an only child! I just don't want to hear it from his family. And I really feel like he won't step in and make them back off of me. Anyone else have to deal with this? Sorry to be so long winded, but I appreciate everyone taking the time to read and your support!

Hello all! Like Janet said, I am SO proud of all of us! We are all doing great! Funny how each Dr. has different post op "rules". I was on clear broth for three days post surgery. Now I am on full liquids: Protein drinks, oatmeal, creamy Soups, etc. for FIVE weeks! I can't wait for mushy foods! Mashed potatoes sounds like heaven right now! Or cottage cheese...oh that sounds good! Ok, I am really not craving much...even though it sounds like it! I just get hungry. Probably because I am back at work full time and running around like crazy! Tammy - I am afraid of becoming a scale watcher too. I weighed myself every day the first week. So far only two days this week, but we are only 3 days into the week! EECK! My goal is to go a whole week without weighing. :help: :faint: :omg: :heh: I will need help with that one! I hope everyone has a great day! Keep up the great work!

Congrats to those who just got banded or are about to get banded! WAY TO GO!!! Stacey - I slept in a recliner for about a week. I just got back into my regular bed about two nights ago. Mostly because of my port...just felt too weird and hurt too much to sleep laying down flat. Keep up the good work! You are a rock star!!! I can't believe you are on no pain meds! You go girl! I am a big whimp and was on meds for 4 days after surgery...only once a day though! Mikey and JanetC - thanks for the info. I may give his office a call to see if he allows outside patients to join the support groups. That sounds like it would be a great help. I have everyone on here, but it sure would be nice to see people face to face! Hi to everyone else! Sounds like we are all doing well. Anyone having hunger issues? I am!!!!! Seems like I am hungry all the time! I was so hoping it wouldn't be this way. But, I am sticking right to my dr's plan. Post op is next week, so we shall see what he says! I hope you all have a great day!
-
JanetC - We are really close to each other! I am right around 1709 and Davis!!! Does your Dr. run any support groups out this way?
-
Hi all! Mikey - I hear ya on the real food thing...Hubby isn't banded and last week I was a BEAR when he was eating!!! I didn't really want what he had but was mad as hell that he was eating in front of me! I have been able to add crackers to my 2 oz of Soup this weekend so that is holding my hunger off better. JerseyTammy - I think I am having the same problem with Protein drinks. Some days they stay in me and some days they don't! Calling the dr about that today. So sorry you can't have anything but Water sweety. We are all here cheering for you! I am down 13 lbs. as of yesterday. Post op is scheduled for a week from tomorrow. Hoping he will up my food amount. For those of you that had your surgery in Southlake, TX...where is the surgery center? I live in Keller (very edge of Southlake actually) and I would love to know, b/c my surgeon is in Plano. Might consider changing dr's just for fills....The Southlake office would be a 5 minute drive vs an hour drive! Glad to hear from everyone! Have a great day!
-
Hi all! It's official! I am a bandster and down 4 pounds already! LOL! Things are really good here. I am up and moving around really well. Will continue to check in! How is everyone else doing? Anyone else get banded on the 9th?

Wow!!! I can't believe that it is already almost here. Needless to say I am having a hard time concentrating at work! I go in to see Dr. Hamn today for my pre-op visit! I am just beside myself!!!!!! Thanks for letting me vent some of this!!!!!
