aHealthierMe121714 replied to aHealthierMe121714's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was BCBS of MS state employee and I had to do 6 mo My Active Health where they call me 1x per month. In the mean time I was making calls to bariatric center where my surgeon was and setting 1st appt at 4 mos with him. They day I had my 6 mos phone call I turned arouNd, called my surgeons office who took care of all my insurance finagling, that was Fri and Mon she called and I was approved. Had surgery 2 weeks later (bc had to do the 2 wk clear liquid pre-op diet). Been amazing ever since. Pre-op weight on 12/29/14 was 254.8 and TODAY (4/22/15) I am 204.6 and I feel AMAZING! Great luck to you and if you have any questions I will try to keep check and respond. I haven't been in on a while. -
Today is day 1 of pre op clear liquid diet. Went well for the most part. Surgery is Dec 29th and can't wait! Anyone else out there on the same day?

Dec 29th sleevers ?
aHealthierMe121714 replied to aHealthierMe121714's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did have heartburn or something before surgery but he said he initially thought that was a result of the hiatal hernia they found and repaired during surgery. I feel fine with the exception of those little discomforts. Maybe I'm trying to drink too fast or eat too fast or the wrong things too early for my pouch. (Even though it seems SLOWWWWW compared to they way I used to eat/drink). Will give it until Tues. and may call and check with his nurse. -

Ok sleevers, I was sleeved on 12/29 and had no complications, still don't, praise God. Here lately though, I have been experiencing like an acid slowly crawling up my esophagus in the middle of the night. I will sit straight up in bed and usually drink a sip or 2 of milk and then prop up on pillows to sleep. The 1st time it happened it startled me and I jumped up and breathed in really quick and got some in my lungs and literally thought I was going to choke to death. Nothing I do helps. Not eating late, stop drinking, sleep propped up, and I take my Prilosec like he prescribed. I will have a "gurgling" sound in my stomach too. I can't eat but MAYBE 2 tspn. fulls and then get hiccups. Wondering if I could possibly still have gas from surgery?????? I feel fine, just kind of wondering. I went back to work and am exhausted and sore everyday. I don't go back to dr until 1st wk of Feb. for my 1st appt since my 1 wk follow up. -

I will still be on clear liquid until 5 wks post op. I just get to add yogurt, cream soups and protein shakes to the warer, crystal light, jello and plain broth. Just like the pre op diet, mine is so different. Not going to question the doctor though. Can't complain anyway bc I can't eat but about 1/4 c at a time anyway. -

Ok 29thers, we all should have had a follow-up by now. List stats. Pre op weight and how much down in how many days. SW 250.5; Pre-opW 242.5; Post-OpW 232. (9.5# in 1 wk since surgery and total of 18.5# in 21 day) The INCHES are what amaze me and I still can't "see" myself shrinking but others say they see I have lost some weight. How is everyone? Ups? Downs? Etc. -

@@queensleever05 I have only been allowed clear fluids and I was sleeved on Mon 12/29 but my Dr also makes his pts do the full 14 clear liquid pre op. I have to have 96 oz of water, crystal light, gatorade, broth, clear type soups & jello. It was HARD to even get 30 oz my 1st day home but managed each and every day to get better. It was probably bc of the long ride home and I was exhausted. I go to my 1st follow up on Tues and he will probably add protein drinks and POSSIBLY yogurt or cottage/ricotta cheese or something maybe. Doing everything he says though. What are you getting to eat? -

Today was so much better than yesterday. Got my fluids in and wasn't as exhausted. Still doing great as far as no pain, very little gas, no nausea, etc. Incisions are itching so I know that they are healing. Just keeping on keeping on. Hope all other 29thers are good as well. Remember, tomorrow will be better than today! -

Sorry I haven't posted. My hands have hurt bc of drips. In surgery by 930 Min morn, in recovery by 1130 in room by 1245 and up peeing and walking at 130. Never had to have pain meds until after 3 hr ride home. It KILLED me. Everything has been good except I cant get the required 96 oz of liquid in per day. Today is day 1 and I have managed 37 so far. I will do what I can today and try harder tomorrow. I have rested a good bit today and made sure to get my walks in so I don't get blood clots. Not hungry at all. Been a great thing. No nasty side effects yet either. Keep a cold damp cloth around my neck to make sure I don't get any nauseausness. So far so food. Hope everyone is doing well! Great to be on the sleeved side! Just keep repeating each day what a fellow sleeved friend told me, "tomorrow will be better than today." She is 7 mos out and 86# down and eating whatever. Hey - we got this! . -

I feel better today than yesterday for sure. It's mostly when I 1st wake up I trying to clear the drainage. My Dr is almost 3 hrs away so we are leaving Sunday and going to spend the night in a hotel. I think I am going to prop up to sleep that night and then before going to the hospital, get a nice hot shower and use one of those effervescent shower things. Used one this morning and it was HEAVEN! -

My Dr office closed at noon Christmas Eve and won't be open again until Mon. (but not before I have to be at hospital). Just trying the zinc losenges (NASTY) and vitamin c drops and stay hydrated. I don't think my Dr will allow anything but Tylenol and that's not going to help! -

It was ok. Alf cup of dressing (if that much) & a nice slice of white turkey breast, chewed and ate very slow and savored it! I agree, worst day so far, but was so worth it. Hope I keep the sinus congestion away and tick on until 7 am MONDAY!!!!! -

Has anyone experienced the hair loss? If you have, were you able to eat right? If you haven't, what were you doing? Just trying to make sure I keep most of mine. I barely have any anyway! -

Yes the pre op is getting easier each day. Dr told me I could have a slice of turkey or something very little along in protein form to chew. Had a Christmas party at work today and I had a VERY small slice of turkey. I FEEL AWFUL! I guess my system has adjusted to liquids so I'm just not even gonna try anymore. I'm good! Praying for everyone. -

Day #3 and still going strong! Had my last dr visit yesterday and xray, bloodwork and ekg. All is great and he even told me if I would DO the 2 wks liquid that it won't hurt to have a slice of turkey on Christmas day! Hahaha but hey, it's something to look forward to! Actually the liquid diet is nowt really that big of a deal. I'm the same that my hips. ankles, knees and feet already feel a tad better. I'm not dragging or tired, just simply drinking to feel satisfied instead of chewing to feel satisfied. So excited and ready for surgery! 7 am on the 29th can NOT come quick enough. (They have me 1st surgery sched!!!)
