    No longer answering these questions:

I hear you. I'm the same way now. I'm at the point just ignore such posts. However, occasionally I will read a post from someone that either makes me laugh, roll my eyes or turn bright red in anger. I truly don't understand why some people get the surgery if they aren't willing to make any changes to what they are going to eat. Don't make me laugh about the people that claim they were eating steak just a couple of days outside of surgery!

    Anal Sex Concern

LOL....It's going to be probably months before you will want to engage in this behavior. You are going to have periods of diarrhea and constipation right after the surgery that may pose extremely embarrassing for you if you attempt it too early. Give it time until after you are "normal" agin, BM wise.
  3. Nope. Unless you are just excited about drinking them? There's nothing in them that would produce that effect. Carb shock, as in abruptly stopping eating carbs, may produce them though.

For you Diet Coke addicts [emoji4]

Pop only bothered me when I was not that far out from surgery. Eventually you get to the point where you can drink it normally and without a straw. I'm back on drinking multiple ones a day. In fact, that's how I start my day.

Can I have bread and if not why?

OP, the thing about carbs is that as long as you allow yourself to eat them you will experience the cravings for them. If you go without eating carbs then amazingly you stop craving them. Instead, you start craving weird food you may have never craved before. Bread is a "trigger food", meaning that it can lead to binge eating. And it does fill you up quite quickly. So can you eat bread? Yes. Should you, well that's your choice to make. Remember, that eating too many carbs, despite whether or not it's approved by your NUT, will sabotage your weight loss.

    Cheese

Usually no, but I guess anything is possible if you eat a lot of one thing. I love cheese and eat it frequently. I tend to savor it by itself though or else in salads. Combine it with carbs and then it's not the cheese that's the problem but the carbs.
  7. The only regret I have is not having this surgery done sooner. I actually feel like I'm finally normal as I'm finally eating normal sized food portions. For example, a normal food portion of pizza is 1 slice. Yet before I would eat an entire large pizza. I truly feel the surgery saved my life and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
  8. Well, it's been a while since I posted here. I thought I would come clean and admit that I've developed an alcohol addiction. I knew the risks but I never thought it would happen to me. For the past month I've been drinking every day, mostly whisky. I drink first thing upon waking up and then hit a few shots each hour. I've been drinking at night until I pass out. It started because of tooth pain. I had some left over lortabs and was using those but when those ran out I was still in pain. So I turned to alcohol. Previously, I only drank when I went out on Fridays and Saturday, if I went out at all. So I'm officially hooked now. And alcohol effects me completely differently after surgery than before. Before just one single drink would leave me flushed and stupified. Today I can drink like a gallon (over-estimation) and be fine. I no longer get hot or flushed from drinking and it takes a lot to make me drunk. I think the surgery effected my metabolism somehow. Anyway, I'm living proof that this can happen to those of us who have had the surgery. The only "good" news is that I haven't gained any weight. That actually surprised me. But I guess I haven't been eating much. Then again, I haven't lost any weight either. I'm still 14 lbs away from my goal weight. I thought about getting professional help but my friends think I don't need it because I haven't been drinking like this for long. They want me to taper off. I have been drinking like 5 or 6 shots before work and my best friend says to slowly taper it off to just one shot before work before trying to cut it out completely.

    Man Boobs

Bandages and duct tape, it's what a lot of lesbians and FTM transgendered individuals often use. However, it's probably best to just save up for gynocomastia surgery.
  10. Well, I've seen both sides of the coin on this topic. I've seen rude replies and I've seen innocent replies that some overly-dramatic person takes offense too. You can't please everyone so if the mods are doing their jobs then it should not be a problem. A mod should be able to read a reply and tell if the poster is being rude or if someone is just overreacting.

    Alcohol Addiction

If you are an American, HIPAA law prevents your employer or future employer from being able to access your medical record. No medical practice would go giving out that information unless they want to get sued. It is against the law. Sent from my Nexus 10 using the BariatricPal App Not quite true. They can't give out your information without your permission. However, there are key fields where such is required for employment. So if you deny an employer access to your medical records then it may cost you a very good job. So it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario. If you deny them access it's bad. If they see it on your record it's bad.

    Alcohol Addiction

Just an FYI: I've chosen not to get "professional help" because doing so can stigmatize you for life as it will be on your medical records and can interfere with you getting a good job or worse down the line. The HAMs method is working for me and the Sinclaire approach seems like it would be good for people as well, but only if they can make it OTC.

    Alcohol Addiction

Update: I'm now down to just 4 shots a day that I take at night. I no longer drink before work or during the day. This is a far cry from doing around 20 or more shots during the day. I would wake up and hit like 5 or 6 shots before work and then hit shots off and on during the day before getting wasted at night. The day I stopped drinking in the morning and during the day was the worst as far as withdrawals. I felt horrible, was shaking, feverish, dilated pupils, etc. It was pretty crazy. But it got better each day from there. I'm using the HAMs method at the below link and it's really working for me. http://www.hamsnetwork.org/ Tonight I'll be reducing to 3 shots and when I get down to a half a shot a night I will then quit altogether. Then I will abstain for a very long time before allowing myself to enjoy an occasional drink.

    Alcohol Addiction

Just wanted to update that I've been given some great advice in personal messages and some good websites. I'm doing a tapering method and have turned over my liquor to my roommates who will be dispersing it to me. Today I'm logging everything and tomorrow starts the tapering. The good thing is that I've been doing shots and not just taking swigs so this will be relatively easy to taper off from. I'm breaking it down to morning, afternoon and evening. And will keep to that schedule until I'm doing about half shot at each time and then try to stop completely at that point. Like this morning I only did 4 shots before work so tomorrow I will only do a max of 3. So hopefully pretty soon I'll be free of this soon. And I'm looking into AA groups in my area to cover my bases. Thank you all for the advice and kind messages.

    Hard Boiled Eggs

You can buy perfect hard boiled eggs at the store now. I do mean perfect. Bright yellow yolks.
  18. People swear by it but none of the claims people make about Apple Cider Vinegar have ever been proven.
  19. Ingesting an acid (vinegar) to stop acid won't work. You will need to ingest a base which will neutralize the stomach acid. Baking soda dissolved in Water can work but it will taste nasty. It's just far easier and less expensive to simply buy over the counter medicines to treat the situation. Remember that natural doesn't always mean best, easiest or cheapest.

    Lotion for loose skin

Unfortunately there really is no way to prevent loose skin. Firming creams can only temporarily mask when there is just a little bit of extra skin but most of us have way more than what can be helped with creams. You will most likely have to have plastic surgery to remove excess skin or simply learn to live with it. Some people don't mind the excess skin.

When does the discomfort stop after surgery?

I had little to no pain. A lot of it depends on how big you were and how healthy you were going into surgery. For me, it just felt like I was punched in the stomach or did a lot of crunches, so not that bad. The only painful part was when they took out the drain but that only lasted a few seconds.

    Hair loss

Almost everyone does. It's temporary. There's nothing you can do to prevent it. You will not go bald. Just shedding. It will grow back when your weight stabilizes.

    Full Stomach

You will feel the restriction. That's why it's so important to eat slowly. For me I get two warnings. The first warning is the first hint of restriction. I am now trained to stop there. I can keep eating and the final warning is not subtle and quite painful. If I try to eat past this last warning I will throw up.
