    I can't wait to.....

For me, it's the memory of being skinny. Back in 1997 I was at my goal weight and I loved it. So to remind myself of what I'm fighting for I'm constantly remembering what life was like being skinny back then.

    Liver Reduction Diet

The liver-reduction diet is the same as the pre-op diet. So your doctor advised you to start now on the pre-op diet in order to lose 40 lbs before surgery. Many doctors won't take patients over 400 lbs in the U.S. So this may be a reason why. Or it could be he/she is testing you to determine if you are serious about losing weight. You would be surprised by how many people aren't serious and can't even lose 10 lbs before surgery.
  3. What does full feel like post-surgery? IT HURTS! I always try to stop eating at the very first signs of discomfort. If I continue eating until I'm full then I have to just sit there and wait until I digest it all. If I get up or do stuff I feel really bad.

    Liver Reduction Diet

No. My pre-op diet was 2 weeks. The first week I had to drink a Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch. For dinner I was allowed lean meat like chicken or fish on a bed of lettuce or salad greens. I could also supplement this with broth and sugar free Jello. In week two I could only drink liquids. I could have 3 Protein shakes a day and as much broth or sugar free jello as I wanted. I was also able to eat sugar free popsicles both weeks as well. The Atkins diet is high fat which doesn't work with the pre-op diet.

    High BMI's

My highest was a BMI of 50 and a weight of 370 lbs. I lost 115 lbs since May 12, about 4 months. I still got about 85 lbs or so to go until I reach my goal. I would advise to talk to your doctor and see what surgery would be best for you.
  6. I don't know how I liked this or how I can take my like back but I truly didn't mean to like what you said and actually am very disgusted at what you said and will pray for you and I hope one day nothing happens to you or any of your kin and someone questions your authenticity , you are the reason many people that are sexually abused refrain from telling others, humble yourself There's nothing wrong with what I wrote. This thread is full of shrill harpies just waiting to attack anyone over the slightest of perceived offenses. A normal, sane person would know that my comment was showing compassion while at the same time saying I don't know what happened. Because the truth is that none of us knows what happened. I hope this woman is able to get the law involved. Otherwise, you and others here need to think twice before you start attacking people.
  7. @@Proud2BMe If true, this story is very tragic. I had my operation there and I enjoyed it and thought it was wonderful. If true?? Really? Why would you question someone you don't even know when reporting something this tragic? I mean even if for some strange reason you are choosing not to believe her, why not just move on to another post? This is the exact reason people who are sexually abused do not report it. SMH.... ........... Stop with the stupid drama and b.s. There's nothing wrong with what I posted. Unlike you I was showing compassion at the same time as saying that I don't know what actually happened. It's people like you that are ruining this thread.

    Pre-op Liquid Diet Issues

5 shakes plus 72 oz of Water is too much in my opinion. Shakes count as liquid intake so you are drinking a lot! As for myself, I only had 3 Protein shakes a day and liquid when I felt like it.

  10. Yes, too much protein is dangerous. It can damage your kidneys. Talk with your doctor on how much you should aim for.
  11. About 3 months. For the longest time I had to take baby sips. I was actually surprised when I got to the point where I could drink as normal.

    Stopped weight loss

It's called a weight stall or just "stall" for short. Everyone experiences them. They can last from days to months, depending on the person. You can shock your body back into weight loss mode through a no carb diet but since you are diabetic then I would advise you to speak to your doctor. Otherwise, increasing your exercise is the only way to go. Good luck!
  13. The claim that one can prevent sagging or excess skin after weight loss is an urban legend. There is no method to prevent sagging and excess skin. The proper thing to do is to own it. We allowed ourselves to get this big and this is the consequence. The good news is that there is a solution to having to go the rest of our lives with sagging and excess skin. That solution is plastic surgery. I will be having a tummy tuck and my chest done after I get to goal weight. I would advise those who have already been sleeved to go ahead and start researching plastic surgery options. Most insurance companies will not pay for it unless there is a health condition. So keep in mind that you will likely have to pay for it out of pocket.

    Passport

The U.S. still technically requires one, at least the passport card. If you travel by air into Mexico you will need a passport. If you are driving, just a passport card. Whether or not the border patrol will ask to see it is another question entirely. I bought a passport card for me and my father who accompanied me and it was like a little under $300 I think.
  15. The key is to learn to eat slow and knowing when to stop eating. I've just recently mastered this art, of stopping just shy of being full. When you are sleeved it is very uncomfortable to be full. It's like you are a reptile and just have to lie down and do nothing for 30 minutes to an hour to digest your food. I hate it. But if you do it correctly and stop shy of being full you can continue about your daily life as normal.
  16. The rule most people go buy is that if it's bigger than an m&m then crush it. I'm 4 months out and I just chew up pills larger than an m&m. I used to crush them but that got to be to much of a hassle for me. I've never had a single complication from my sleeve. I've never experienced the pain you describe. Check your temperature daily. If you notice a fever and the pain continues then it could be sign of a leak. However, please consult your doctor.

    Child's portion card?

I think it's just a gimmick. I don't have one and I've yet to be denied a child's meal when I go out to eat. I just explain to the waiter or waitress that I had surgery and can't eat a normal sized meal and they always say that it's fine. However, and most importantly, most children's meals suck. There's only so much macaroni and cheese one can take. I've recently just been ordering sides. Mashed potatoes and white gravy is divine. Refried beans are also really good. I try to stick with meat and avoid the carbs though.
  18. It's normal. And when you begin eating solid food you will then switch to becoming constipated. It's not uncommon to go days, if not weeks, without a bowl movement. I once went three weeks without one and when it finally struck I about died. Now I used laxatives once a week.

    Unjury

Didn't know there was a starter kit. unjury can be expensive. Many people just buy whey Protein shakes or powders from local stores, like Walmart. It's cheaper that way. However, Unjury does taste really good.

    Worried

Talk to your doctor. Your health and safety is of the utter most importance. I personally wouldn't mind if my doctor told me to wait a bit more due to health concerns.

How often is it okay to eat?

I think people here are forgetting that every doctor is different. Instead of people getting a bit huffy with me over my post perhaps they should realize this fact. I will follow what my doctor says and other people should follow what their doctors say. I'm very pleased with my weight loss so far and hope other people are pleased with theirs as well.

    Re: Refried beans?

Whenever I go out for Mexican I always end up getting a side of Beans and rice for my meal. For some reason the beans at a restaurant taste way better than the canned variety.

How often is it okay to eat?

Not a "full meal", as in what you would eat before the surgery, but three small meals a day. Every doctor is different but mine said no snacking during the day.

How often is it okay to eat?

I didn't say you were trying to eat as many calories as you want. I said my doctor told that to me, that when people try to eat every couple of hours that they are trying to sneak in as many calories as possible and their weight loss is usually very slow. I get about 70 grams of protein in a day, the norm, from drinking 2 Protein shakes a day (Breakfast and lunch). Then I have one small meal for dinner and focus on my protein first and then low carb vegetables. I do not eat high carb foods, fruit or sweets. In between foods I focus on getting in enough liquid. I'm four months out tomorrow and have lost 112 lbs so far. I estimate my daily calorie intake between 800-1000 calories day, what it should be. I still have no hunger.

Approved for Band not Sleeve;(Need some advice.

Go to another doctor. Most doctors today are moving away from the band as it has too many complications.
