    All Holiday Decorations

That's actually a thing now. I know two Jewish families who do "Hanukkah Trees or Bush", which are basically Christmas Trees done in blue and white with a Menorah on top. lol I think it's cool.

Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?

Protein shake or eggs. The occasional piece of bacon or two.

Need a post-op diet plan plz

You should have been given this information. Your post op diet will be roughly be the following: 1st week - Clear liquids (Water, tea, broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles) 2nd week - Full liquids (the same as clear liquids but adding soups, Protein shakes, etc.) 3rd week - pureed food (consistency of baby food) 4th week - Soft food (stuff like mashed potatoes, eggs, and the like) 5th week - Normal food (start slowly and don't rush it. Once you can tolerate chicken you are pretty much in the clear.) After week 5 your focus needs to be on protein first and then non-starchy vegetables. Only if you have any room left do you eat carbs. Too many carbs will sabotage your weight loss. As far as protein, you need about 60-80 gms a day. Take a Multivitamin as well.
  4. It's up to you. I was sleeved in Tijuana and I loved the experience. Either waiting until March or doing it now is really just a matter of what you want.

    Juice drinks....

I wouldn't recommend fruit juices at all. The sugar in fruit juice is comparable to drinking regular soda. Fruits should be limited. I know that many nutritionists allow fruits and juice but in reality I personally would not ingest such. If you ingest too many carbs (and carbs are just chains of sugars) then you sabotage your weight loss. As far as eating tomatoes and such goes, I love the cherry and grape tomatoes. I don't find them to be acidic at all.

Dr. Verboonen cancun or tj safe?

You can see my stats to the right. I was sleeved May 12 of this year and in 7 months have lost 147 pounds.

    Weight Gain Normal?

No, that's not normal. Weight can fluctuate a couple of pounds from day to day but to gain 6 pounds back when you only have lost 10 lbs means you are consuming too many calories. I'm betting it's carbs. Carbs will sabotage your weight loss and they can really sneak up on you. Log everything you eat. Talk to your doctor because this is not normal. ***EDIT: It's normal to gain some weight back when you are 2+ years out but not just a couple of weeks out of surgery. You should not be gaining weight this soon after surgery. You have just entered your rapid weight loss phase and the pounds should be flying off. If you consume too many calories they won't though.

    Not losing

It could be a stall. However, check your carbs. Carbs will sabotage your weight loss. Log everything you eat or drink.

    SLIMES - WHAT TO DO

"Slimes" is a watery mucous that comes up your throat and into your mouth. It normally happens when you eat. It can be pretty heavy at times and may require patients to walk around with spit cups. I required one. It eventually goes away though.

    TMI and a little gross

It's normal. And then your will begin to have constipation after that has ended. It's just the nature of the game.
  11. If you are denied you can always go self-pay where you currently live at or in Mexico as well.

    Hair loss

There's nothing you can do to stop it. However, it's not like you are going to be bald or anything. It's just shedding. You may notice more hair in your hands when you shampoo. It normally begins around month 3 or 4 after surgery. When your weight stabilizes at your new goal weight then it will begin to grow back. I've noticed my hair shedding but not a single person has ever commented to me that they'e noticed it. So I don't think you should worry about it. You might want to cut your hair shorter in the meantime. It's really no big deal.
  13. liquids go right through you. You will really notice a restriction when you get to solid foods. However, what bothers me is that you should not be hungry at this stage. So maybe you are only having "head hunger" and you may need to learn how to distinguish head hunger from real hunger.

Dr. Verboonen cancun or tj safe?

He was my surgeon and I had my sleeve done in Tijuana. It was great. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

    360+ pounds?!? help!

I was 370 when I decided to have the sleeve. My driver's license says I was 375 but I'm pretty sure my highest weight was in the 380s. I got sleeved on May 12 of this year and in the past 7 months I've lost 147 lbs to date. I now weigh 223 lbs and my goal weight is 170 lbs. The last time I was at my goal weight was 1997. Either surgery is good. Bypass does produce about 20-30 lbs more average weight loss than the sleeve but it also has more complications and higher mortality rates. If you are really indecisive then I would suggest you speak to your doctor and see what he or she recommends. Good luck!

    Dairy stops weight loss?

The only dairy I eat is cheese and it's pretty much all Protein and fat. However, if you are a milk drinker then that still has sugars in it which might slow your weight loss.
  18. Proud2BMe

    Eating

Yep. You are still right on schedule. However, please know that right now your stomach is still inflamed from the surgery. After inflammation goes down in a few months you will notice the true level of restriction and you will be able to eat more.

Appetite suppressants (prescribed) 2 years out...

I was just going to ask if anyone was doing both the surgery and the pills. I enjoyed Phentermine. It made me feel good. But the problem is that I think it began messing with my heart. I'm afraid to take it now. However, I feel I might need that extra something to get down to my goal weight.

    Stopped losing - completely frustrated

Check your carbs first. They can really sneak up on you. Then factor in your exercise. If you aren't doing any exercise then realize that you may have hit the limit of what your sleeve can do for you. If you aren't exercising then you will need to begin to do so in order to lose more weight. If you are exercising then increase it. Finally, the closer we are to goal, the slower we lose weight. So keep that in mind. If you still can't determine why, then go back to the pre-op diet for a while.

    Nausea

Only felt it one time on day two after surgery. It seems that the people who have the most issues are those with doctors that rush them into eating soft foods instead of doing liquids after surgery. Just my take though.

    Horrible

If you value your relationship then get counseling and quick. Many marriages and relationships end after weight loss surgery, and for a variety of reasons.
  23. I consider a stall to be no weight loss in at least one week. Stalls can last for a few weeks, or even months. I had a long stall recently that was about 2 months long. I broke it by going back to the pre-op diet and exercising more. I quickly lost 10 lbs within a week after doing so.
  24. I've been on omeprazole for 2+ years and my calcium and other Vitamin levels are completely normal.
  25. Proud2BMe

    Cereal

Nope. You really should not be eating cereal. I'm not sure where you are at on our journey but you will be told to focus on Protein, followed by non-starchy vegetables and only if you have any room left do you eat carbs or starchy vegetables. Cereal has far too many carbs. Carbs will sabotage your weight loss. After you have reached your goal you can very slowly add carbs back to your diet to maintain your weight.
