About Me
Like most everyone on this site, my journey is a long one. Failed diets, failed activity and kicking myself for the failures is something I'm going to have to work on. The life changes that have to be made seem a bit scary, but the overall benefits out weigh them.
My decision to have the Roux-en-Y surgery was made for me. My severe acid reflux with two failed Nissen Fundoplications have left me no other options. The thoracic surgeon I spoke with says a third Nissen would be less likely to work and by performing the bypass the reflux should resolve due to the majority of the acid being in the non-pouch part of my stomach. The weight loss that will occur is just a bonus. I've been denied twice by my current insurance company, but fortunately, in 2015 my insurance will change and the procedure should be covered.
I look forward to continue reading the posts on this site. The information shared and the support I've read between members is very encouraging for me.
