  1. How long post-op did you start lifting weight? Did it help with lose skin? Any other recommendations for us newbies to make sure we look our best on the other end?
  2. I went to Dr Ariel Ortiz in Tijuana ($6500) and felt very safe and very well taken care of. I had no complications and feel great. I would really recommend him.

Scared to Death for Post Op

Please relax!!! I am 12 days post op and feel like I had nothing done. I was shopping the next day in Tijuana. No pain, no vomiting, no issues whatsoever. I followed all of my doctor's suggestions and came through with no issues at all and I am down 40 pounds since I started my pre-op diet.

    Sooooo tired!

Not sure how long ago you had your surgery, but I turned the corner on day 8. Until then I was sleeping 9 hours at night and still getting a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I dropped the naps on day 8 (not intentionally, just didn't need one) and went back to work on day 10. I am 12 days post op and seriously feel like the surgery did not even happen. I am eating every 3 hours or so (I am still on full liquid diet) and that seems to work for me and I am getting 60g of Protein. I am struggling to get all of the Water in (it's cold here in Toronto!!), but working on it. Hope you turn the corner soon.

    Gas pain

My stomach gurgling stopped at 8 days post op. I had these awful what felt like hunger pangs, but they are gone now. I still have to eat very slowly and in small bites, because it still feels like I have a bubble in my stomach. However, I feel it's diminishing every day. Don't worry, it gets better.
  6. Have you dealt with the reasons behind your binge eating/bulimia?

    Constipation

I use Smooth Move tea. Works like a charm.
  8. Talk to your surgeon. I was eating yogurt since day 7 and it goes down very easy. You could have gas pains, but those shouldn't be a severe as you describe.

    Post op surgery on 12/17

My surgery was on 12/19 and I am still on full liquid diet, but I eat every 3 hours or so. Your irregular eating may be behind your lack of weight loss. I have lost 8 pounds post op and 32 pounds pre-op. Once you establish schedule, your body will not hold on to everything you eat, because it doesn't know when the next nourishment is coming.

    Approaching surgery, have questions.

Don't worry about the pain. You will be on pain meds. I had a sleeve a week ago and had very little pain. I stuck to all of my surgeon's recommendations before surgery and I feel almost normal today. I still get a little fatigued here and there but really nothing major. I was one of the lucky ones- no complications and no regrets, just 40 pounds down since I started this process.

    Stomach stretching out

I was told that the stretchy part of the stomach was removed. What we have left is made of muscle which is much tougher and harder to stretch. It may be that the inflammation in your tummy is subsiding. Just follow the protocol and you will be successful.

    First day failure or common?

Don't worry about the protein, yet. My surgeon has me starting protein only at 7 days post op. The first 6 days is just liquid diet. Focus on hydrating and healing. And walk, walk......
  13. So I had my surgery yesterday in Mexico by Dr.Ortiz at OCC. What a wonderful place. There were about 5 of us getting wls yesterday and we all came through with flying colours. I felt so well taken care of. And today I went shopping in Tijuana, I could barely believe it. I have little to no pain, still taking pain meds, but the last dose was about 12hrsago and I don't feel like I need them. I am able to hold my liquids and have been sipping on water and broth all day. My sleeve is definitely talking to me, I think that there is still some gas,but nothing awful. It keeps me in check so I don't drink too much. Just a quick update for all of you that maybe still going in- sometimes it just goes smoothly.

    WLS In Mexico

Those of you that flew to Mexico for your surgery- how did you handle your flight back? I am travelling from San Diego to Toronto, it's going to be interesting...

    WLS In Mexico

I will definitely check into upgrade to first class. I am going alone, so I will be asking strangers to help with the bag. I am only taking carry on- bare necessities. Thank you all for sharing.
  16. Mine is on the 19th as well. Hoping in fully uneventful recovery. Good luck!
  17. When you have a lot to lose, the initial loss will be fast. I am on my pre-op diet now and I have lost 30 lbs in less than a month. I also weigh myself every day and I experience occasional plateaus. Consider what you have eaten or drank, high sodium makes me stall by holding on to Water. Otherwise, follow your protocol and let your body do what it needs to do..
  18. I am worried about the loose skin too. I can't afford a trainer to show me what I need to do. I am barely paying for my gym membership. Hopefully some one can give is advice I have worked out religiously for over a year without a trainer. Internet is a great resource. Google the workout regimens or videos. You can work out without a trainer or an expensive gym membership.
  19. I am on the 19th! Kicking the pre-op diet's butt!
  20. I too have been diagnosed with PCOS and have no trouble losing weight. My issue is keeping it off! I am tired of losing 60-80 lbs only to gain them back and then some. That's why I am having the surgery. Don't give up, it is absolutely possible to lose weight with PCOS with or without surgery. It doesn't seem though that your head is in it yet.

Read up on the 5:2 diet. I a lot of people are losing the final pounds with it.

    Canadians out there

Those of you from Canada...what did you tell the custom officer at the Border? Like when they ask you what is the purpose of your trip? I am flying fro Toronto and crossing over to Mexico from San Diego, I was just wondering if I have tell them Or do I just make up a story?

    Vets question

Seems like you may be dealing with depression, have you talked to someone? The weight loss addresses only one issue- weight, and now you are not stuffing the feelings down with food anymore.
