I am six months out and I eat fruit daily with no complications. I usually have it in the morning.
-
Heck yes.. I had the surgery to help me deal with food like a normal person would, not to go from one extreme to another. I am able to enjoy a few bites here and there.. I also managed to do an all inclusive vacation in Mexico, lose a pound while allowing myself to eat anything I liked (small portions of course), and when I got back on track, lost 7 lbs the very next week. This is all 6mo out and 108 pounds down... Just live your life, don't make food the focal point of your life, treat it as something that sustains you while you are living your life.

Mexico Surgery Buddy
Midtown girl replied to pr_pitbullgrl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I would truly recommend Dr Ariel Ortiz.. I went on my own, made a friend in the waiting room and we supported each other... don't worry about going on your own.. -
I had hard time at that stage as well.. I did well with fish and eggs.. if you are sick, just back off..listen to your body.. I am over 100 lbs down and loving it..it is sooo worth it.. Keep persevering!

Follow your program and don't worry about the numbers. You will notice that sometimes the scale stalls but the inches are melting off. I am 3 months out and some weeks I lost just a pound and then in the last 2 weeks I dropped 10 pounds.. Your body will do what it needs to do.

December Sleevers
Midtown girl replied to kelskels13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Dec 19 and lost 70 lbs altogether with 35 coming off after surgery. I had no stalls but some weeks I lose much less than others. Never had any issues and tolerate all foods. I follow 5:2 lifestyle since week 3, I think it helped with avoiding stalls...The surgery was the best decision I ever made. -
Traveling By Plane Post-Surgery
Midtown girl replied to greatestnameever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I flew from San Diego to Toronto (on a red eye!) 2 days post op. Many people get sleeved in Mexico and have 5-6 hour long flights ahead of them shortly after surgery. I have certainly not heard anything like this before, and unless you have some other medical issues, flying with sleeve should not be any problem. -
How long after surgery could you tolerate meat?
Midtown girl replied to shannabonana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 weeks post op and do well with chicken, fish and turkey. I never really liked beef so that's a non-issue for me. I have easy time with fruit and vegetables, but I tried bread once and it did not go down very well... however, muffin was fine.. Funny how the sleeve wants what it wants.. -
It's most likely gas. I had the hunger for about 8 days post op with loud growling. It then went away and I now I never feel hunger. I must remind myself to eat. Just wait it out, it will get better.

2 months post op - less than 15lbs lost
Midtown girl replied to Anne Stephen's topic in Rants & Raves
You are similar in height and starting weight to me. I was sleeved on Dec 19, 2014 and lost 19 pounds so far (another 34 preop). I weigh in every day and track everything I eat on losit app. I also struggle with Water. try to get in 10000 steps a day, but there are some where it's only 7500. I have also avoided stalling so far by following 5:2 diet as of week 3 .I aim for 800-900 calories on 5 days a week and less than 500 on 2 days (usually Monday and Thu for me). I would suggest to start tracking, skip cheesecake and weigh in to see what the pattern is. You will be able to figure out why the scale is not moving. -
How much is everyone eating?
Midtown girl replied to richkatrina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 weeks out and I am eating between 700-900 calories on days and less than 500 on 2 days. I always keep my Protein at 60grams + and carbs on less than 50g..My diet is mostly- cottage cheese, yogurt, Protein shakes, canned salmon, some potatoes and liver with onions. -
I drink Kefir for probiotics and smooth move tea works for constipation...

Were you weighed the day of your surgery?
Midtown girl replied to Debbie Jean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was weighed on the day of surgery, but I use my start weight from the day I started the preop diet. -
Post op care-blood work, any other procedures?
Midtown girl posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery in Mexico. What type of follow up care did you have your first year after the surgery? Blood work (if so how often), endoscopy (is it necessary??) or any other procedures? I am almost a month out and have no complications, but since I am not seeing my original surgeon on a regular basis, I just wanted to know what I should have and how often. -
Cooking for one
Midtown girl replied to Bacon-n-Limes's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I also cook for one and it really is not that difficult. I use Pintrest to find recipes (search low carb) and then I adjust the portion size. Now, I don't mind left overs- I cook things I really enjoy, so I don't mind having 2-4 meals out of them and then I switch it up. I also do eggs, cottage cheese, canned salmon and tuna, yogurt.... I do avoid processed foods like plague, they are full of good for nothings that will mess with your weight loss progress. .Good Luck, you never know, you may discover a new passion in cooking. -
What are your best tools?
Midtown girl replied to iamjamilyn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use loseit app and the fitbit is my best friend to keep on track with my activity. I also pack food- cottage cheese and yogurt are my go tos.. Then I make sure to eat something else at night when I have more time and access to appliances.. -
I was told 30 days after the surgery.

4 weeks post surgery and I am still struggling with eating solid foods
Midtown girl replied to BigTink2LilTink's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 3 days before you and I am still in pureed stage. Eating solids is just too soon. I won't be on solids until day 40 post op. Just don't force it and give yourself some time. -
Why is this awful stall bothering me so much?
Midtown girl replied to gabrielle2014's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your body has been through a lot, so just be patient. I was one of the lucky ones, I did not experience the stall. I am not losing like crazy, but I consistently drop about half a pound a day ( I am one of those crazy ones, that weighs in every morning, it just works for me). Knowing about the 3rd week stall I started 5:2 diet that week. I eat normally 600-800 calories a day and on 2 days(Mon and Thu) I eat under 500. I always get in 60g or Protein and I keep my carbs under 50g. Also, I eat real food- I avoid the low fat, low sugar, low carb stuff. They have too many chemicals or other things replacing what they took out and you may be sensitive them. I was sleeved on Dec 19, so just a few days after you, and I have lost 49 pounds (16 post op). Be patient and really look at what you are putting into your body. -
I told it only to my closest circle. People saw me over the years losing and gaining, so it is not such a surprise that I am losing weight again.

Question in regards to recovery.
Midtown girl replied to Anthony DeCastro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on full liquids until day 17 post-op, but I was allowed Soups, as long as they could pass through a straw. it got me through those first weeks (no straw of course). I have no issues with burping or nausea. -
Don't worry guys. Listen to the surgeons and your body and you will not regret this decision. The little of pain and fear will be a distant memory before you know it.

Once you re-read your post you can see what you need to fix. I am 3 wks post op and I did not experience the 3rd week stall. I keep my carbs under 50 grams and Protein over 60 grams every single day. I use the loseit.com site to keep my food journal. I have also started the 5:2 diet this week to avoid the dreaded 3rd week stall and it worked like magic. I eat between 600-800 calories on 5 days a week and on 2 days (Mon and Thu) I keep it to under 500 calories. I am not eating junk at all- my treat is my chewable Vitamin and I had one real fruit popsicle this week. I also eat real food- none of the low sugar, low carb, low fat junk. I believe that all the chemicals they put into those foods wreak havoc on our systems. The only exception is the Protein shake, which I need sometimes to meet my protein goal. I am hoping to cut them out as soon as I can eat enough to get my nutrition from real food. I have started to work out in the gym today ( on top of my daily walking) to see if I can avoid 4-week stall. I will keep you posted I have lost over 48 pounds (15 post op). Tweak the little things you know are not right, and you will be back on track. As someone said here before, you are not going to be the only person in the world who this doesn't work for!

I know how you feel!! I am 21 days post op today and I am almost 50 lbs down since I started this process (including pre-op diet). I had mashed potatoes and chicken (that I chewed until I couldn't chew anymore!!)for dinner today and I felt like finally I am having real food, but without a need to eat huge quantities of it. I am trying on the clothes that I couldn't fit into before and they are fitting! Definitely the best decision I made!
