Pins & Needles - - HELP!

If it were me, I would be a bit concerned also. I'm glad you're calling your doctor in the morning. Let us know what you find out. -
Feeling frustrated - Please help
OregonTeacher replied to fancyface73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you are doing everything right. Remember two things: one - muscle weighs more than the same amount of fat. Two - down one is better than gaining and your body needs an adjustment period. Keep doing what you are doing! You've got this! -
@@cube68, thank you so much for your kind and uplifting words...especially since I just realized I had stumbled into a Men's Only board. (I saw the thread title on the side and clicked into the thread). I had been curious about the fact that so many men had posted on this thread

Feeling frustrated - Please help
OregonTeacher replied to fancyface73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Sheri, I had surgery the same day as you. I went through this from about May 2nd thru 12th, had a bit of a loss, but am now bouncing up a couple of pounds and then down small amounts for a few days, up, down, up, down. I am now making slow progress downward. From what I have seen and talked with others about this is totally "normal". Try to ignore the scale numbers...yes, I know exactly how hard that is! Our bodies need some time to adjust to the massive changes we have forced upon them. Are your clothes fitting any more loosely? Are you feeling a bit better and stronger, healthier? We will lose weight! The numbers will go down, but for now we need to focus on other NonScale Victories. -
@Bigboy76f, congratulations on doing such an amazing thing for yourself and your daughter...the 5k and the surgery. I decided I needed to force myself to push the exercise. I signed up and paid for several 5ks over the next few months. I refuse to waste the money so I know I will push my walking...yes, I will be walking. I will only be 6 weeks post-op for the first one, but I have always hated running so can't see that ever happening. Walking a 5k is way better than sitting on the sidelines. My one requirement as my adult daughter and I were looking for 5ks was that a t shirt was included. I wanted proof that I did it and when I entered I ordered smaller shirts for the ones that are over a month away.

problems with bowel movements

I wish I had some wisdom for you, but I have the opposite problem so badly that I am slightly jealous. -
Tiny pouch?
OregonTeacher replied to ReadyFourChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Trust me, it gets better. You are at one of the hardest stages you will have to go through. You have just had major surgery! I know it's hard, but try not to put too much pressure on yourself, or on your pouch, at this point. How long are you taking to drink that 3 ounces? It should take you at least 45 minutes according to my plan to drink that much right now. I am almost four weeks out and still have to work hard everyday take it in my minimum of 48 ounces. My body desperately needs 64 ounces but I have yet to be able to attain that goal. Take a deep breath, remember the end goal, and relax a little bit. You can do this! Slow and steady and you'll make it! Also remember that you have swelling in your ouch and sphincter. -
What was your post-op diet like?
OregonTeacher replied to imjenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By week seven I am on full regular foods. I started with to weeks full liquids, then two weeks of very soft foods like cottage cheese, egg whites, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes. Next I get to have soft meats, fruits, soft cheese, and cooked veggies. -

1 month out, nauseous and retching
OregonTeacher replied to IndieDivaIN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Smells have been a problem for me since the second week. Things like spaghetti or fried chicken are enough to make me lose my lunch! I don't have trouble, it seems, with simple things like plain meet or veggies cooking, but if there is a blended meal, casseroles and such, I can't deal with it. Just yesterday I felt awful enough to go back to Clear liquids for the day. I am not quit four weeks yet. -
The thought if the drain was a bit freaky for me so I refused to think about it in advance. It was nothing. I had mine taken out right before I left the hospital. That felt weird, but didn't hurt and I actually felt a little physical pressure relief when it was out. It really is more of a mental than physical thing.

the first time I tried eggs I didn't feel very well afterwards either. I waited a few days and tried them again and it was better. I was doing OK at that time with cottage cheese, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, but eggs somehow didn't go over very well. Now I can eat all of those.

Drainage catheter
OregonTeacher replied to Jaymmie Hengle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mine was taken out two days post op right before I left the hospital. It seems as though it's really surgeon preference. -

Anyone else have an Endoscopy?
OregonTeacher replied to Tiana Harris's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with what has already been said. I was a bit apprehensive about having this done to me, but it ended being a "pleasant" experience. I wouldn't hesitate to have it done again if needed. -
Problem keeping fluids down
OregonTeacher replied to nagaraj.prasadh's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@@nagaraj.prasadh, maybe make a quick phone call to your surgeons office and see what they have to say. You definitely do not want to end up dehydrated. -
Left side clicking under my rib!
OregonTeacher replied to frenchy12574's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@frenchy12574, yes! I deal with this awful feeling the most when I am driving. I feel like my sitting position in the car makes it worse. When I sit in the recliner I don't have the same problems. I really do not like this feeling...it is creepy! -
Lots of pills
OregonTeacher replied to Emmyandlisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@, most medications have a form that can be crushed if they don't have a liquid form. Don't worry, your doctor/doctors will help you figure it out. If not, talk to your pharmacist and have them help you learn what your choices are and then ask your doctor to write the prescriptions you need. Be your own advocate! -
Lots of pills
OregonTeacher replied to Emmyandlisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take 3 pills twice per day, plus multi Vitamin and a calcium twice per day. It is a trial in yhe beginning when you have to crush everything or open a capsule. I am also required to wait 10 to 15 minutes in between each medication. I use Greek yogurt to take my meds so I portion out my 1/4 cup yogurt, take my meds with it, then finish the yogurt when I am done with meds. Killing 2 birds with one stone, if you will. It is time consuming, but, frankly, the worst of it for me is the taste of my meds. Satan in a spoon!!! -
John, my favorite part of your post...the part about your wife. I love it! Congratulations to you both!!!
