My first infertility APT sucked! (Long)
Duckie replied to bushbaby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Rica, I am so sorry. My DH and I have been through this for 23 years now. We are now in the process of adopting a 9 year old little boy named Josh. Don't ever give up hope. God has a way of working even when we don't think He is. Sending prayers and hugs your way. Julie = ) -

Duckie replied to Monica S's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I take 150 mg. of Effexor and will never go off of my happy pills. = ) -
Hi, My Doc. never uses an x-ray. We always seem to get it just right though.

I can't eat chiken anymore either. I've tried all kinds with all kinds of "goo" and still it gets stuck every time, so I've crossed it off of my list of foods not to eat. Good luck to you! = ) P.S. I was losing slow for a while but have picked up just recently. I haven't changed my ticker but I am now down to the 2's = ) 294.0.

Hi SleepyJean, Yes. I've read the book. It's very good and has good suggestions. It was written by a woman who had the Lapband surgery. I found it very helpful in deciding wether or not to have LB surgery. My two cents: it's a good read. = )

Way to go!! You go girl!! I had my first fill a couple of weeks ago and have not budged a teeny bit according to the scale. I think I need a second fill. At any rate you enjoy your loss -- we are all proud of you!

Hi Loulou, I've been exactly where you are. For my own sanity I had to quit - I couldn't take it anymore and felt I would be a failure if I stayed in that much of an unhealthy situation. I would write a letter to the HR Dept. (my office was just the owner, one other co-worker, and me, so no HR to turn to). But I would still leave. You owe it to yourself. Here's a suggestion - take it for what it's worth.........if you don't have to work, why not go back to school for something else? What do you have a passion for? Once you find your passion - go for it!! Anyway, I say you are more important than any job! Take care of you!

Judy, I did as you are doing.............STOP!! I didn't know about this site before or I would have stopped. I did lose 20 pounds prior to surgery, however, my liver was still so enlarged on the date of surgery that when they went to move it, it cracked and started to bleed. I had to stay in the hospital overnight for observation and the surgery lasted a lot longer than was planned. I must confese this scared the heck out of my husband and parents. Thanks for letting me share.

Eating or Drinking before a Fill - help please
Duckie replied to DeeJay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I called my doc. last week, before my first fill they said there was no restrictions on eating/drinking prior to my fill. I ate a sandwhich 1/2 hour before going in. NO problems with the fill. -
Wow! I thought I was the only one to go through this. In fact, just yesterday, I had one of the liquid ones here at work and had to go wash out my tidy whities. Ugh! I was so embarrased. I'm just glad that I have the first hour here all to myself so my noises (smell) don't bother anyone else. It sure is difficult to get down the 3 steps of my last bus in the mornings. I always make sure I'm the last one off --- poor bus driver! LOL

Hi all! I go in to get my first fill in about 2 hours from now. I'm really nervous about how it will go but am very excited to really get with the program. I have not had any restriction since surgery and have been eating way too much food. I need that restriction to hold me back! That's all -- just needed to release some of the anxieity I'm feeling. Thanks for listening

Hi Everyone! Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. It all went fine yesterday! I walked in and had lost 4 more pounds - yes! Dr. Clinch put in some Litacaine (sp) and then injected 3 cc's of saline (mine is the large 10cc band), then had me drink some Water to make sure that everything was okay. Done. Just a simple 5 minute process. Wow!! Do I feel good now. I still don't feel like I have a whole lot of restriction, but Dr. said to give it a couple of weeks and if there doesn't seem to be any more restriction to come back in for another fill. From the sounds of it, I'd rather be under than over filled. Well I guess that's it for now. Talk to you all again soon.

I have decided to face the truth about my weight
Duckie replied to BeckyinTexas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Way to Go, Becky! WOW!! What an accomplishment -- 87 pounds! Keep up the fantastic work. Don't worry about what you used to weigh it's gone gone gone! You aren't what you weigh it's what is on the inside that counts! You are still the same person only getting smaller on the outside. Be PROUD of all that you have accomplished! -
Way To Go!!!!!

Thanks, Rene!
