    Feb 16th Surgery Date

My surgery was 2/4. I had mostly back pain I think it was a combination of being on the operating table and gas pains. The pain meds really helped and I couldn't sleep in a bed for about a week. Felt more comfortable reclined. The pain got better and better with every nap so be prepared to relax and take it easy for the first week. I was lucky enough not to have any nausea and didn't feel any hunger for the first week either. You will have moments of regret and wishing you could just eat what your family is but it passes. What helps me is looking up some great healthy recipes (although still on liquid diet) it helps to realize that although you won't eat like you use to the meals you will have look really delicious. Another motivater when your feeling blue post surgery is looking at before and after pics that really helps me focus again on why I am doing what I'm doing.

    Random every day questions/thoughts.

Ok so my cousin likes cold weather best but Massachusetts weather is just too extreme right now for this Florida girl to understand...

    Feb 16th Surgery Date

Good luck! I have a similiar story, mom of 2 boys 15, and 13 and girl 7. Also put myself on backburner. Can't wait to be healthier and more active with the kids. Live near Orlando Florida and have avoided a lot of things like water parks and roller coasters for so long because of my weight that the excitment of future weight loss success with my new sleeve is all I think about! A bit of advice this first week of recovery has been so much easier because my hubby has been cooking/shopping and feeding the kids, it is taking some getting use to being around the food while on the liquid diet. If thats not an option consider doing some bulk shopping and cooking/freezing for them in advance so you don't have to right away.

Approved by Aetna in under 24 hours!

Congrats! I was approved in less then 24 hours as well. Grateful because I have a huge impatience problem and weeks of waiting would have drove me crazy. Hope you get your surgery date soon!
  8. Loved my staff as well, helps when your comfortable. Have to say your doctor must hear a lot of jokes with the name, Dr. Ache.

    Pending approval

Good luck! I think everyone goes through the emotions you are, it was stressful when my paperwork went over as well. You will be fine!

    Anxious

Still a newbie, can only answer about the pain. I can't lie I was in a lot of pain right out of surgery and had the moments of "what did I do to myself" but with every nap I felt better and better. I'm 9 days out and have been pain free for awhile.

    I had Tuna!

Looking forward to that. Liquid diet is starting to get annoying.
  12. 12lbs down since surgery. How is everyone else doing? Feeling soooo much better. Still can't sleep on my side and very anxious to sleep on my belly again, nervous to try.
  13. Lost 19 on 2 week pre-op diet and 8 since surgery.
  14. Had my surgery 2/4 as well! Excited about our journey.

    Joined the Sleeve family 2/4

I hear you on the coughing, it is not easy! The pain is finally subsided still have some gas pains though. I'm feeling pretty good, haven't been hungry and have been able to sip water all day. Also still sleeping on the couch, just feels more comfortable. Follow up appointment is on Thursday then I start the vitamin regimen. Excite to see the scale go lower and lower. Lost 19 on pre-op diet and 5 since surgery.
  16. Had my surgery on Wednesday. Also had my gall bladder out. I was not prepared for the back pain. Not sure if it was laying on that operating table or the gas build up but my back hurt so bad and had a hard time getting comfortable because obviously you can't lay on your stomach so the back took a beating. Stayed in the hospital one night and am home now. Finally feeling able to get up and move around. Don't really want anything other then Water. When my kids had dinner the smell of it made me nauseous. The pain medicine is hard to get down too because it is cherry flavored and just way too sweet for my liking. Otherwise I am happy to say I'm finally feeling a little more like myself. So excited about this new chapter in my life. I feel like its a whole new beginning. My family has been very supportive. I have two teenage son's and a 7 year old daughter who have been very helpful as I have been recovering, and my husband has been like my own personal nurse helping me shower and change bandages. I feel very blessed. Good luck to everyone else pre and post surgery on your journey's.

    Any February Sleevers

I was sleeved on Wednesday! Still working through some pain (gall bladder came out too) but starting to feel better!
  18. My doctor prescribed some pain medication in liquid form for after my surgery. I have called MANY pharmacies and no one has it in stock or can get it until the soonest 2/9. My surgery is 2/4 if all goes well will be home from what I'm being told 2/5. My question is how many of you needed the pain medication. If I can't get it filled will I be in unbearable pain? I know each person has a different pain tolerance level just curious what some of you had to say. Thanks

    Family Struggle

My nutritionist gave me a great idea because I have teenage boys and a husband that have no problem eating everything and not gaining weight. She said that if you see it you will eat it, even if you don't want it you will just walk in the kitchen and graze. She said to get a basket or one of those big totes (like you would put christmas decorations in) and put the Snacks in there and then in a pantry. That way your family can still have access but you don't have to see it.

    Pain Meds post surgery

Originally the week wasn't so bad because I had the time, but then they said it didn't come in that shipment like they expected and that's when they gave me the 2/9 date...Ugggggg

    Pain Meds post surgery

Thanks I picked it back up and called around most places are telling me its not a commonly ordered script and will take 10 days to get in. Others like Walgreen's won't even tell me if its in stock over the phone because its a controlled substance. Been a real headache.

    Pain Meds post surgery

Didn't think about checking with the hospital will do that thanks. Planning to call the doctor on Monday for his suggestions. Annoyed with my regular pharmacy. Dropped off the script a week ago and just called today, the weekend of all times, to tell me about the delay.
