Three of us! I have a bike I got not too long ago. One of those old fashioned looking ones. I have to get better at riding it. I haven't tried since I lost weight. Went to Metro with it a few times. Enjoyed it when I wasn't worried that I'd crash. LOL. Hmmm, who knows a good meeting place? Starbuck's maybe? -

Never heard anything. I'd be interested if anyone wants to start a group. -
Hey everyone, I am so excited to get going on this weight loss journey. I feel like I have tried so many other things but with this I feel I can have long term success! I got a bug to get it done and had my first doctor appt. Oct. 17th and it felt like it took forever to get scheduled but it really wasn't very long I guess. I am anxious to get it over with. Scared of pain, wondering what I will eat. Anyone have any favorite Protein powders? I hear they will be my friend. The only ones I tried in the past were yucky! What about shakes? I like Optifast but they are pricey. Any decent ones out there? Hoping for some buddies to go through this with me! Chris.

Benji27 she is doing well. We are on the facebook page as it seems easier to access. How is everyone doing? Sleeved on 12/15 and have lost 31 pounds so far!! Haven't been sick at all. I do take omeprazole every day though. No heartburn either. Learning to eat differently. Not hitting my Protein goals. Can't take any more of those drinks!

Good to hear AJP and Benji. I had my surgery on the 15th and the staples came out a week later. I think it must have really hurt to have them in for so long! Ouchy! I am doing well too. Down 29 pounds and have to go back to work on Monday. Sounds like everyone is on the way!

Any updates on this? I'm interested. -
My date was Dec. 15th! Time is going by so fast. I get to start soft foods today. Down 28 lbs. so far!!! I know a lot of people don't check in here much anymore, it's a little hard to navigate. A facebook group was formed called BariBuddies. It's a closed group and it's easier to access. There is also another fb group that is very active called December Sleevers. BariBuddies has a pic of a girl with arms outstretched and Dec. sleevers has cute little stuffed stomachs. Both have been great for me to have a place to chat with others about ANYTHING! So join in if you like, lots of info there. Have a great day!

Amy I am sorry for your loss. Don't know if any of you on here are also on facebook. There is a closed group on facebook called BariBuddies that started from the people on this board if you'd like to join. It's a little easier to navigate. Look for the picture of the girl with the open arms. I like staying in touch but this board seems hard to keep up with.

I had to go home with lovenox shots to thin my blood. Twice a day....so tired of them.

Today was my first day out. Did some grocery shopping and Christmas shopping. Wore myself out. I had to come home with those lovenox shots. It doesn't seem like anyone else did. I am sooooo tired of them! Glad I got to go out but I did have to take a nap.

No gas pains here. Got a call from the doctor this morning and I can start clear liquid protein today. Been sipping my water that past few days and tea, that's about it. will see what the protein does. Myssjones try some warm drinks. AJP they took my bandages off in the hospital and I was surprised to see staples too. That's a lot of staples. Starting to itch. Oh well, they will have to go on Tues.

Oh yeah, getting out of bed or up off a chair without arms is painful. I have also decided that if it's on the floor it is going to have to stay there for now. Hurts WAY too much to pick it up. I have been getting in at least 48 oz. of fluids. I just keep sipping those small 8 oz. water bottles all day and then have some tea or broth. I don't get to have shakes or anything besides clear liquids yet. Sigh....even a yucky flavor protein shake sounds good at this point.

I'm trying to drink at least two warm drinks a day along with all that water. Tried some broth last night. Don't really feel like a sweet popsicle. Not as much pain today, little better all the time. This is day 3 post op for me. Benji you can buy gas-x stips most anywhere. Kmart, Walmart, Target, CVS. I'm not having much in the way of gas pains. I do get a pain across the top of my belly which I believe is gas pain. It comes in waves. Down a total of 12 pounds since my preop diet! Can't wait to see more pounds drop off!

Two days post op. Came home after one night. First day and night were rough. Woke up today sore but overall not too bad. Took my pain meds after the nurse called. I was trying to tough it out. Worst pain are the incisions on the right side. I have heard of people using heating pads. Anyone tried it yet? I thought it might hurt. I managed 24 oz. of water, 2 cups of decaf tea and about a half cup of broth today. Funny how different the post op diets are too!

Well I have crossed over to the sleeved size. Went to surgery at 9:30 and was in my room by 1:00. Worst part was waking up with nausea. I told them ahead of time and got the the nausea meds but it didn't work. Sigh, glad that's over. Got discharged at 3:30 today and I'm home. Nothing to eat for the past two days but I'm not hungry. Just going to take it easy and start on the Protein Drinks tomorrow. Wish I would have thought to take medicines!

Excited to be getting closer. Nervous too. Just went to my preop nutrition class yesterday. Kind of a lot to take in. I want to make sure I have everything all prepared.
-
I don't think it will mess us your surgery. I actually had to do the same thing one of the first few days at work. I ate a couple of saltines. I'm pretty sure they will be out of your and my system pretty quickly. Nothing worse than that lightheaded feeling. Last few days it has been coming frequently.
-
Thanks for the info simplyblessed keep us posted! Heal quickly. I have to be at the hospital at 7:15 am Mon. Whew, so glad it's early! Last couple days have been rough on the preop diet. I have been getting a lot of dizziness and not much energy to do stuff. Tomorrow...clear liquids. I hope I make it! Good luck to us all on getting through the day and then we'll be good to go on Mon.!

We can do this. I've gained and lost over the years but never weighed anywhere close to what I do now. The last couple of years have been horrible. I agree this is a tool that we have to learn how to use. I met a girl today who had it done 3 years ago and she lost 110 pounds and kept it off. She says it's hard in the beginning but the weight just falls off and keeps you going. I think it was pretty awesome that I met her today!

Lot's of us are going to cross to the other side on Monday! Good luck to you. Be sure to keep us posted.

I think the Unjury unflavored is pretty good. Also their chicken soup.
