    Any old timers still around?

Hi! I'm still here too. I was banded Sept. 2007 and lost about 85 pounds. Then I got pregnant and had to unfill completely at five months. I saw onderland for one day (the day before they had to unfill me completely because I couldn't even keep Water down). I gained 50 pounds after that. Due to some medical issues, O have had to eat" around" the band to get enough carbs down. Unfortunately that means I have settled at about 220. I have been trying to get pregnant again for a year, so my band is not as tight as it needs to be for me to continue losing weight. But, since it is taking me so long to get pregnant, O have decided to just go ahead and get the fill and have an appointment in a week and a half. My goal is still 180. Hopefully soon! Good to be back! I need this motivation! Jennie
  2. Okay, I thought I'd try and get something going in the thirties. When/as you lose weight, would you wear a mini skirt? I'm not talking obscene, just pretty short. I find I'm having to re-evaluate everything I wear. Is it appropriate. Do I look good enough to wear it. Husbands are no help! :-) Just thought this might be fun. What are your thoughts?
  3. Whether it be for the environment, cost, or whatever other reason you choose, what do you think?

    Cloth vs. Disposable Diapers

Okay, I saw that this got bumped so I figured I'd update it. My daughter is now about ten months old. The fuzzi bunz still work great. I replaced the original inserts with hemp ones (she's a very heavy wetter). I have to change her a lot more frequently than with disposables or it soaks through, even with the hemp, but I'm still happy. I bought a box of diapers from costco that we use when we go out. I bought it about four months ago and I've only used about half of it (I bought a size that was pretty big for her so they still fit). If anyone has any questions, feel free to e-mail me!

    Cloth vs. Disposable Diapers

It's been 7 months since I had my baby and I'm just now getting back on this website! We bought the medium size of fuzzi bunz and just used disposables until she fit in them. Now we use cloth at home and disposables when we are out and about. I LOVE THEM! It was such a good choice. Thank you to everyone who helped me make this decision!

    Concerns w/out answers...

Hi! Congrats on being pregnant! My baby is now 7 months old and I'm just NOW getting back on this website! If I had to guess, I would guess the pain is caused by gas. But, it's just a guess. Good luck!

    NEW favorite body part

I put this in the "thirties" room, but I'm curious what others who had surgery the same time as me say. Okay, I always used to say my favorite body part was my eyes or hair. But, now that I'm losing weight, I want to focus on parts that weren't worth focusing on before. Now, my favorite body part is my legs. My least favorite (still) is my belly. So, DO NOT SAY EYES, HAIR, OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT CAN'T BE IMPROVED FROM WEIGHT!!! Be proud! What's your new favorite body part!!!???!?!??
  8. I honestly would have only had to see my band doctor once to do an unfill at about 20 week. Unfortunately, we found out my band was flipped and we had to do revision surgery (with NO anesthesia!!). But, I don't know if that was a complication from pregnancy or just happened. Good luck!

    Pregnant and almost Full-Term

Good luck! I am scheduled to be induced on Feb. 13/14, so I am right behind you. Let us know how it goes!
  10. I am 37 weeks pregnant and scheduled to be induced a week from Friday. I had all my Fluid taken out of my band at about 20 weeks and have gained about 50 pounds since then. Just evidence that as soon as I can, I WILL refill my band. Oh well. I'm not going to worry about it until after the baby is here. We don't know what we're having. The heart rate is between 140-160. I know that, according to the old-wives-tales, it's a girl, but we are really hoping for a boy. I guess we'll see in about a week and a half!
  11. I went through the same thing. I had a very hard time maintaining my weight. Because of other complications, my doctor told me he needed me to gain weight (even though I'm still overweight--204 before pregnancy). I couldn't do it with the band, no matter how hard I tried (and, believe me, I got SOOO tired of eating!! How weird is that!) At about 20 weeks, my band tightened and I couldn't even keep fluids down so I went in for an unfill. Well, turns out my port was flipped. They had to do surgery (no anesthesia!) to rectify the situation. I am now 26 weeks pregnant and have gained about 21 pounds. It's on the high side, but I'm not TOO worried yet. We'll see how I feel when I get closer to my due date (February 25th).

    Cloth vs. Disposable Diapers

Okay, I have a stupid question about fuzzi bunz. I know they are a pocket diaper and that you put an insert or a prefold in the pocket. When you change the diaper, take the insert/prefold out and then wash them separately? I'm a bit confused on how they work. I *think* I get how they go on the baby, but after that, I'm clueless! Thanks!

    Cloth vs. Disposable Diapers

I have a cloth diapering question. Has anyone used the Chinese PreFolds with the Bummis super snap covers? I'm leaning towards snaps just because I think they'll last longer than velcro, but I know nothing about this :-) Any help is appreciated!
  14. I've never asked a doctor, but I *think* I was able to feel mu uterus at that time. I am still overweight as well. I am 5'6" and was 204 at that time in my pregnancy. What I did was I stood upright (for me, it was a LOT harder to find lying down) and pressed in just below my belly button. Again, I'm not sure, but I *think* that hardness you feel is your uterus. And don't worry about how you'll look pregnant. That was (and is) a huge issue with me as well. I find that if I just wear shirts specifically made for pregnant people, I always look pregnant (rather than just fat). When strangers tell you, "Sure! You can use the bathroom! When are you due?", it makes you feel REALLY good! Good luck!
  15. We're not going to find out!!! We decided to wait until he/she is here. IT'S HARD TO WAIT! I'm high risk so I have ultrasounds every six weeks. It's so hard when you KNOW the ultrasound tech knows and you don't!!!!!! AHHHHH! Can you feel my frustration! :-)

    6 Months Preggo w/eating problems

I was in the same situation as you. About four weeks ago (I think I was about 20 weeks pregnant), I hadn't gained any weight either. I weighed 204. I have other issues, so my doctor was wanting me to gain weight. Well, I guess the baby started pushing up on my stomach because it got to the point where I couldn't keep anything down. I went in for an unfill and found out my port was flipped. I had to undergo surgery (with no anesthesia!), and had all the Fluid taken out of my band. Now, about four weeks later (I am now 24 weeks), I have definitely gained (about 16 pounds!!!), but it is all in my belly. I have a feeling my doctor will not be too happy! I see him today. But, before I had all the fluid taken out, I was only eating 3-5 bites per meal. If I hadn't had other problem (factor IV), my doctor probably would have been fine with me not gaining weight. But, I still would have had to have all the fluid taken out eventually as I couldn't keep anything down at all.
  17. Hi! I am posting this hoping you won't be offended, and am only saying these things because you asked for opinions. I would absolutely wait to have a baby. Your profile says you are 30 years old. Waiting a year to a year and a half is not unthinkable, even though I KNOW it seems like it is. I don't know how much you weigh, but I do know that in order to be approved for weight loss surgery, people have to be pretty overweight. You AND you baby will be healthier if you wait. On a non-weight note, it might also be better to be a couple a bit longer as well. More time is NEVER a bad idea. It may suck to wait, but it can really help you out in the long run. Again, not knowing much about you, I can tell you I felt very similar to how you feel right now pre-band. I can only speak from my experience. I am now 32 years old. I will be 33 when I have my baby (I am 24 weeks pregnant). I got banded September, 2007. Before I got banded, I had been with my now-husband for 7 years and married for over a year. We had been planning for a baby for ALL that time. We wanted to wait until we had a house, degrees, teaching credentials, jobs, etc. In short, we waited for security...and got it. Before my surgery, my periods were sporadic. Knowing I wanted to get pregnant about a year after our marriage, I had been tracking my periods/ovulation for that entire time. I knew it would be difficult because my periods were hit and miss. Also, on a completely superficial note, I knew I was going to just look "fatter", not pregnant. I was also afraid of pregnancy complications due to weight. I am 5'6". My starting weight was 290 pounds. I was busting out of my size 26s. One of my biggest fears of being pregnant (another superficial one) was finding maternity clothes. Then I saw and ad on TV for the lap-band surgery. I researched it, and saw that doctors recommended waiting at least a year to get pregnant. Again, like you, I REALLY thought about it. I had been wanting a baby for SOOO long! But, I had to put my family first. I knew that waiting was only going to be beneficial. So, I put my own feelings aside and had the sugery. Last June, I weighed 204 pounds. I had lost 86 pounds in 9 months. And I had decided that I had waited long enough. I KNOW the doctors say to wait a year, but I made the conscious decision to not listen to them (not that I'm advocating that!). Since I lost all that weight, my periods had become regular for the first time in my life. I was able to chart my ovulation with great accuracy. We got pregnant on the first try. And (WARNING: TMI coming up!), we were trying for a boy, so we only had sex ONCE on the day of my ovulation. It wasn't all that likely that we were going to get pregnant. I am absolutely convinced that, had I not lost the weight, we would STILL be trying. I KNOW this is an incredibly long reply, but I just want to make sure you see the benefits of waiting. I KNOW how hard it is. I WAS THERE! And I'm telling you with all the certainty God gave me that you should wait. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

    some queries about pregnancy

I'm 5'6" and I got pregnant at 204 lbs. I'm almost 22 weeks and haven't had any complications due to weight. I did have a complication with my band, though, during my pregnancy. I kept my fill until about 2 weeks ago. I was unable to keep any food down, so I finally went in for an unfill. My doctor was also concerned that I wasn't putting on any weight. When I went in, they couldn't get the needle in, so they told me to let the other doctor in the office try the next day by going in the emergency room that morning. I did so, and he had no luck either. They concluded that I had a flipped port. As this was day 3 with no food or anything to drink (I DID get to see 199, though!), they decided to do surgery to redo my port and unfill my band. Because of another disease I have, they couldn't give me anesthesia (sp?), so I was awake for the whole procedure. WEIRDEST thing I've ever gone through in my life! Fortunately, all is good now. I am gaining weight (probalby TOO quickly!), and the baby is fine. So far, that is the only complication I've had from the band. I haven't had any complications due to weight. Hope that helps and good luck!!
  20. Hi all! I've been busy, but I'm trying to keep up with these boards again. I am 20 weeks pregnant and just got unfilled last week (at 19 weeks pregnant). My port was flipped so they actually had to do surgery (with no anesthesia). It sucked!!! But I hadn't been able to eat in three days so it was worth it. I NEED my band, though! I'm so worried about gaining too much weight!
  21. I am 13 weeks pregnant, and I have stayed exactly the same. I fluctuate about 2 pounds both ways, but I'm still the same.
  22. I CAN FINALLY POST HERE! YAY! I am 13 weeks pregnant, but I didn't vote because I haven't gotten an unfill. I haven't been to my band doctor, but my OB says that as long as I don't LOSE weight, I should be fine. I've been maintaining 204 with my current fill. I definitely had morning sickness, but I think it's just because I couldn't keep my stomach full...I couldn't eat enough. I can still only eat 3 to 7 bites per meal (depending on the time of day). I'm a teacher, and I just had to go back to school. Early mornings are hard for me because I can't eat to keep my stomach full. I also live in the mountains, so, without my full stomach, I'm struggling with motion sickness. It sucks, but oh well. I also have to give myself shots twice a day (I have Factor V Leiden)--bloodthinners. Not fun and my belly is nice and bruised. Okay, enough complaining! I'm SOOO enjoying being pregnant! It's been great fun! And, because I lost so much weight, I've been showing for awhile. They say that you show early in your second pregnancy because your skin is already stretched out. Well, with the weight loss, my skin was definitely stretched out, so I'm totally showing. WAY cool! Good luck to all of you new mommies out there!

    A new milestone

I remember when that happened. That was when I felt I was really "beginning" because all the numbers were new from there. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
