I need help & some really good advice
Happyfrog4u replied to aramirez36's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Honey I know what you are going through. I have, over the past several years had both knees replaced and I too am dealing with back issue. What I say to you is what I have to say to myself. I CAN DO THIS. I know I have gained some of my weight back but I have found that exercising in the pool, I do not get sore at all and the water is great for hurting joints. My daughter is getting married in September and I would love to have the weight back off . So Please take care of you and consider finding a pool near you. -
I need help & some really good advice
Happyfrog4u replied to aramirez36's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Sorry you are having such a hard time. I also have back issues which have also caused me to gain some weight. My chiropractor has suggested that now that I am moving a little better to get back into my water exercise. There is no pressure on your joints and you are not sore after working out in the water. Hope this helps! Hang in there WE CAN DO THIS we have come this far! -
How to Change your Mind....
Happyfrog4u replied to treblecutie23's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When you look in the mirror SAY hi to the NEW YOU and keep encouraging yourself to continue on the successful path you have chosen. It does take time for our brains to catch up with our bodies. You have to remember that your weight gain came over a long period of time and now you are losing it rather rapidly and getting our minds to wrap around that is a challenge. Just like you made the choice to take control of your life and live a better quality, you too can work on changing your mental state. I use positive affirmations to encourage myself. I use post it notes and put them where I will see them; the bathroom mirror, the refrigerator door, near where I sit. Right now I am struggling with drinking my Water. I use to drink close to a gallon of water a day and now I am lucky I get in a couple glasses. SO on in my kitchen by the sink faucet I put a note "DID YOU DRINK YOUR WATER TODAY??" You and I can do this and enjoy the NEW US. It is a NEW YEAR and I wish you the best of success! SMILE and keep positive!! -

Can older people benefit from Bariatric Surgery?
Happyfrog4u replied to James Marusek's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Encouragement. I was 59 when I had my by-pass and I have done real well. it has been a year and 4 months and I have lost 150 pounds. I am feeling much better and so thankful for the weight loss as I am going in April to have my knee replaced. Having this surgery was the best thing I have done for myself. I am much happier and able to get around much better. Keep your eyes focused on taking care of yourself you deserve it! -
Help me please...I'm so down.
Happyfrog4u replied to gtrigona1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Honey when you look in the mirror remember how much you love yourself. What you are doing for yourself, not only you but your family will benefit too. Try putting up some positive statements around the house so that you inspire yourself to keep going. Listen to your body not your head. Your head is telling you that the old way of eating is good but your stomach know difference. Please take care of yourself. I had my surgery October 1st 2014 and I am down 150 pounds. I feel like a new person. I am so thankful that I have taken off this weight as in April I have to have my left knee replaced. Having this weight off will help. My arthritis has taken over several of my joints but I am determined to keep a positive attitude and ENJOY my life. Best wishes to you and you can always drop me a note here and I will get back to you. Have a wonderful day! SMILE -

How can I get enough protein
Happyfrog4u replied to Brucinator's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I use unjury Protein powder, the vanila and chocolate splendar are great and you get 20 grams of protein per drink. I make a shake with it and use almond milk and sometimes throw a banana in it. Very tasty. -

Hanna91 read your post and would love to correspond with you through your journey. I had my surgery done October 1st and I am now down over 100 pounds. I just had my 60th birthday and Hanna it was the best one I have had in years. My health has improved so much. I am so looking forward to going home and seeing my family. The last time they saw me I could barely walk and was in terrible pain. Now I am walking and NO PAIN. This was the best thing I ever did for myself. Keeping a positive attitude and paying attention to your feelings is a must in order to be successful. You can do this and I would love to encourage you all the way. KEEP SMILING

Rhodywoman, first let me congratulate you on your success. It is really nice having people notice and comment on my smaller size. I would like to ask you a question? Does your head still have you being a heavy person but when you look in the mirror you know that you are not? Found this out when I went to buy some clothes and just naturally generated to the larger size section when my daughter said to me, YOU no longer need to shop over there, these sizes fit you now! YAHOO Just had my 60th birthday and I am in the best shape I have been in over 30 years. Keep up the good work! Wanted to write to you, as I am orginally from New England grew up in New Hampshire but now live in Upstate New York. Continued success to you.

Happyfrog4u replied to joymecca's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi Joy, I had my surgery October 1st and I am over 100 pounds down. The thing I did when I came home from the hospital was to do just what they told me. I am very blessed as my appetite has not come back still and I concentrate on makng sure that I get my Protein in each day. I learned real quick to stop once my stomach tells me I am full because one more spoonful and my stomach will hurt for sometime. I have found that drinking something hot after I eat really helps keep my stomach calm. Would enjoy talking with you to encourage you and help you along your journey. Keep moving forward! -
Fantasize about the bad food....
Happyfrog4u replied to lvan83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ivan83 you need to work on changing your attitude towards food. You are giving food way too much power over your body. You have had this proceedure done that shows that you want to feel and look better. You can do this and there are a lot of supportive folks on this site that will help you. Concentrate on taking care of YOURSELF and being Good to you. You deserve to be happy and healthy. Drop me a line any time and I will write you back. Hang in there. -
Friendships and Gastric bypass surgery
Happyfrog4u replied to leag78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Leag78, what I am finding is that people who are my true friends are very happy for me with the progress that I am making. It makes them laugh that I am more shocked then they are with my weight loss. I truly feel, that if your friendship was a true friendship that your friend would support you and be happy for you. I find that people come into our lives sometime for a season, sometime for a short while and then others are for a lifetime. Be proud of your accomplishments and know that there are folks out here that will encourage and support you. I am fairly new at writing here in the forums but when I read your post it triggered this response. I had my surgery October 1st, 2014 and I am down 100 pounds. I feel and look so much better. The best part is being able to move around easier and not be in pain. I wish for you continued success and highly suggest you find yourself some positive friends and keep your head high. Life is a journey and you have turned a new page in yours. Best of Luck... Carol -
