I need help & some really good advice
Happyfrog4u replied to aramirez36's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Honey I know what you are going through. I have, over the past several years had both knees replaced and I too am dealing with back issue. What I say to you is what I have to say to myself. I CAN DO THIS. I know I have gained some of my weight back but I have found that exercising in the pool, I do not get sore at all and the water is great for hurting joints. My daughter is getting married in September and I would love to have the weight back off . So Please take care of you and consider finding a pool near you. -

Sorry you are having such a hard time. I also have back issues which have also caused me to gain some weight. My chiropractor has suggested that now that I am moving a little better to get back into my water exercise. There is no pressure on your joints and you are not sore after working out in the water. Hope this helps! Hang in there WE CAN DO THIS we have come this far! -
How to Change your Mind....
Happyfrog4u replied to treblecutie23's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When you look in the mirror SAY hi to the NEW YOU and keep encouraging yourself to continue on the successful path you have chosen. It does take time for our brains to catch up with our bodies. You have to remember that your weight gain came over a long period of time and now you are losing it rather rapidly and getting our minds to wrap around that is a challenge. Just like you made the choice to take control of your life and live a better quality, you too can work on changing your mental state. I use positive affirmations to encourage myself. I use post it notes and put them where I will see them; the bathroom mirror, the refrigerator door, near where I sit. Right now I am struggling with drinking my Water. I use to drink close to a gallon of water a day and now I am lucky I get in a couple glasses. SO on in my kitchen by the sink faucet I put a note "DID YOU DRINK YOUR WATER TODAY??" You and I can do this and enjoy the NEW US. It is a NEW YEAR and I wish you the best of success! SMILE and keep positive!! -

Can older people benefit from Bariatric Surgery?
Happyfrog4u replied to James Marusek's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Encouragement. I was 59 when I had my by-pass and I have done real well. it has been a year and 4 months and I have lost 150 pounds. I am feeling much better and so thankful for the weight loss as I am going in April to have my knee replaced. Having this surgery was the best thing I have done for myself. I am much happier and able to get around much better. Keep your eyes focused on taking care of yourself you deserve it! -

Honey when you look in the mirror remember how much you love yourself. What you are doing for yourself, not only you but your family will benefit too. Try putting up some positive statements around the house so that you inspire yourself to keep going. Listen to your body not your head. Your head is telling you that the old way of eating is good but your stomach know difference. Please take care of yourself. I had my surgery October 1st 2014 and I am down 150 pounds. I feel like a new person. I am so thankful that I have taken off this weight as in April I have to have my left knee replaced. Having this weight off will help. My arthritis has taken over several of my joints but I am determined to keep a positive attitude and ENJOY my life. Best wishes to you and you can always drop me a note here and I will get back to you. Have a wonderful day! SMILE -

How can I get enough protein
Happyfrog4u replied to Brucinator's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I use unjury Protein powder, the vanila and chocolate splendar are great and you get 20 grams of protein per drink. I make a shake with it and use almond milk and sometimes throw a banana in it. Very tasty. -
