It's so weird but ever since the surgery at least twice a day I dream I'm standing in fast food line to order food lololol. Just now I freaked out because this time in the dream I actually got a plate of Chinese food and ate it! Then I had this horrible realization I'm not supposed to eat solid food yet and I began panicking in the dream. Lol I woke up super stressed rflmao as if that's a nightmare... Good laugh now. .. anyone else being haunted by their dreams? During my waking hours I don't think about normal food I'm to busy focusing on my liquids lol.

Everything I consume causes acid reflux
HawaiianTexan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3.5 wk post op and it feels like everything I consume gives an acid reflux feeling. I don't know if it means I'm full? I don't care to eat or drink because of this. I take Omeprazole every other day like the doc recommended. It's this normal? Will I basically have acid reflux for rest of my life? It wad never an issue before but my surgeon did a hiatal hernia repair during sleeve. 3 more weeks till follow up appointment. -

Everything I consume causes acid reflux
HawaiianTexan replied to HawaiianTexan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im doing purees at the moment. I do chew very well. I haven't had anything to spicy, caffeine, carbonated. It's rare that I use a straw one pack of a Protein shake has a straw lol like caprisun drinks. Ive noticed hiccups before when I ate scrambled eggs I thought I ate too fast so I stopped. I generally stop as soon as any discomfort hits (acid, hiccups... Never sneezing). I even experience this with Water so I think I must be full but ill never get more than 40oz liquid at this rate. -
I loved having a catheter... I was worried before going into surgery about it but after surgery it's the last thing on your mind. Its no big deal I loved mine! !!

Name something strange and super unhealthy that you used to eat before weight loss
HawaiianTexan replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Food and Nutrition
This thread is making me hungry must close now. -
Similar thing happened to me for the EGD. I paid $420 during preregistration, then a bill for $340 cane in mail. I'm just paying it because it goes toward my out of pocket maximum whatever I don't pay here just would have come later in my out of pocket. I hit the max just before the surgery...

@@scootie my 36 hours I was a mess too. My pain was only a 4, but my nausea was an 8. I couldn't stay up for more than 5 mins I made myself keep going back to sleep because being up sucked. Then boom I finally woke up feeling 100xs better my surgeon said all the anesthesia finally cleared my system. I started taking walks alone and so on. I barely requested pain meds from the nurse that night. Anyhow yes it totally gets better!

Divorce after plastic surgery and/or bariatric surgery
HawaiianTexan replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Problems in my relationship was the finally straw that convinced me that I needed a whole life change and so I made an appointment to see a surgeon. (Bariatric surgery is something I wanted to do since 2010.) Anyhow we aren't 100% broken up at the moment but I don't know what that future holds. Im curious are people getting divorced because they are prettier so they attract some new prospects? Or because a bad/mean/jealous/unsupportive spouse... -
"You took the easy way out"
HawaiianTexan replied to shmily's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Both ways of losing weight are hard but what these people dont understand is that less than 5 percent of morbidly obese individuals succeed in losing a significant amount of weight and maintaining the weight loss with non-surgical programs. That's the difference between your family member or friend who did it by exercise & diet only they probably weren't morbidly obese. If they are morbidly obese lets keep an eye to see if they yo-yo. This is hard in a different way and truely a life change that can't be undone. -

How long if at all, are you to take Omeprazole ( Prilosec)
HawaiianTexan replied to Homecie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im 12days out and surprised my surgeon said to take it every other day for 1week then stop. To be honest I never took them faithfully to begin with. I have brief moments when I feel some acid but it's because im either bending over, sitting upright (smashing stomach), or laying down. -

HawaiianTexan replied to shmily's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Only one person said that to me, Ive never updated that person on my status. My family has been supportive I think they all know someone that's had a lot of success with bariatric so they were on board immediately saying "how can I help". I never really spoke to my older brothers about it but I think we give each other enough respect to live our lives the way we see fit. -

Unflavored protein powder
HawaiianTexan replied to amy_lynn's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Im not liking the unflavored I can still notice it not sure how to describe the flavor but I certainly notice it. I can only tolerate it in chicken soup but I also wanted it for drinks. Im gonna try genepro instead. -
