  1. My surgery went well. They ran an ekg on me since I was having chest pains. Everything looked good so they wheeled me into the OR. Don't remember much of that. I remember when they were wheeling me to my own room from recovery I was saying "ow" and groaning a lot. About 4 hours later they had me walk around and doing breathing exercises. I was discharged at 8pm. Movement is much better today than it was yesterday. My main problem is drinking water makes the gas in my chest worse,so I have to to take a sip or 2 then wait for a burp before doing anything else.
  2. Just finished with all the pre op stuff. Now just waiting until I'm in the OR
  3. Just finished with all the pre op stuff. Now just waiting until I'm in the OR.
  4. After 3 hours of sleep, I'm getting ready to go into the hospital. Yay! And ahhhhh! At the same time
  5. Thanks everyone for your answers. Finished the antibacterial shower, and I'm now going to try to relax enough to sleep early. Alarm set for 3am. Good luck everyone!
  6. I'm due at the hospital at 4:30 am. They said no water 8 hours prior, so when am I supposed to take the pepcid prescribed?
  7. 15 hours until reporting time. I'm still debating on whether or not to pack a bag since I should be leaving the same day, and we live close enough for my husband to run home for anything if needed.
  8. So I just finished day 5 of my pre op liquids, and since yesterday, my energy level has been extremely low. I came home today and went straight to sleep. Anyone else have this issue?
  9. Oh my! I do not envy you. I just found it odd that most people say it starts off hard then gets easier, but for me, days 1 and 2 were a breeze!

  11. I've been drinking propel and crystal light with the shakes. I'm feeling better today after sleeping a ginormous amount.
  12. I'll be in here when I get to the hospital. I'm hoping I'll be able to sleep the night before. 4:30 am CST report time. I'm slowly moving from excited to nervous.
  13. Thanks! Just 2 more days. I can so do this

Hungry or All in my mind

I just finished day 4, and I have found that constantly having a drink in hand has helped my hunger. I do 1 shake in the morning then a bottle of Water with crystal light. Then I have a sugar free Jello and another shake for lunch and a 2 in 1 cup shake for dinner. Throughout the day, I think I go through at least 3 water bottles between my shakes. I've also noticed that staying busy definitely helps.

    one week out...gained!

My Dr's office actually said not to get on the scale until the post op visit because my body will be filled with excess has and liquids, so don't freak out. Apparently it's completely normal.

    Not telling family

That's how I was with my family. When I told my mom, I ended with "I just wanted you to know so you don't think I'm dying or anything."

    GOING TO SLEEP HUNGRY

I have found that unflavored protein powder in some crystal light helped curb the hunger before bed.

    Not telling family

Perhaps you can tell them you ate already and stick to snacking on the mashed potatoes?

    Day 3 - Pre-Op

I'm also on day 3. Luckily, my Dr only required me to do 1 week liquid vs the 2 weeks that most of his other patients have had to do. I'm having the opposite reaction than you are. Days 1 and 2 were great for me. Today, I'm hungrier than I have been the other 2 days. It might be because I'm at home rather than at work, so I'm not constantly busy. Other than that, I'm honestly surprised at how full I have been feeling.

    Low BMI and Gastric Sleeve

With a BMI if 35, I get the "you don't need it" or "you're not that big" comment a lot which has led to me not being as open to other people about the surgery. Thankfully, all my family has been nothing but supportive. Can't wait for my surgery on Monday.

    Starting day 3 of liquids

I definitely know it'll be worth it. Just taking it a day at a time while reading up on what to expect. I can't believe I'm less than a week away.
  24. So I've been extremely lucky and was only required to do 1 week of liquids. It hasn't been hard so far while I'm awake which is a great surprise. I'm full by the time I go to sleep, and I've spaced it all out to work for me. Problem is when I go to sleep. Last night, all I dreamt about was food! I dreamt I was about to eat a steak then I reminded myself that I was on liquids, but next thing I know, the steak is gone! Repeat this dream with about 10 other foods. I swear, my subconscious is trying to get me to fail at this. Surgery is in 5 days! I can't wait!

    Telling about surgery

I'm telling people that genuinely care about me, and I have been open with them the whole way. To everyone else, they know I'm having surgery, but unless they ask for specifics, I don't care to give them. It just is such a hassle to explain how in American standards I may not seem big, but in Asian standards, I'm huge. They don't get the whole "not being able to run from my dna" reasoning, or they just don't think I've tried hard enough to do it the "natural way".
