@dc... there are times im hungry and then when I don't feel like eating. It all depends if I eat something that keeps me full longer.
-
Wildgoose, me too..so.addicted to Diet Coke! Ive lost my cravings for the stuff as well! Such a good feeling!! I only drink water and fat free milk! I'm grateful for these changes in my food plan.
-
Hello Wildgoose and group, i can relate to why you waited for the surgery. I waited years, because I thought having a gastric bypass was too aggressive. I thought I could do the good ol' fashion way, diet and exercise.. making lifestyle changes. Needless to say, it didn't work for me. So, I had my surgery in Oct 2014, and have no regrets!! I'm grateful for a successful surgery. My hugest weight was 321, and now I am 255. Im not tech savvy, so I dont know how to download some pics to share with the group. Yikes! I drank some wine last night. A half of a glass was a bit much for my pouch. My struggle with this process is not drinking while eating. Does anyone else have this challenge??

Outstanding Luna!! You are very inspiring!

I have had a sip or 2 of wine. I didn't want to risk it, and more honestly I did not have the urge or desire to drink. I'm sure you'll figure it out! Its tough around the holidays.. but its a small sacrafice to make to be the best we want to be!

Walkonthesunshine, you look amazing! Keep up the great work!!

Hello Group! It really sounds like we are all progressing and handling our hurdles well. However, just like many of us.. im so concerned about Bronx! My fingers are crossed and many prayers have been sent. This week has been a positve one for me. I hit 255 from 321! I'm starting to see a slight change. Friends and family share with me they see a difference.. right now, my favorite thing to snack on is clementine small oranges. They satisfy a sweet craving, and my pouch tolerates it well!!! Horay! Im 8 weeks post surgery, and I havent been vomiting like my earlier post surgery days. I still favor soup, I stay away from steak. Ground beef I can eat without issues. Costco has a fat free frozen yogurt which is delicious!!! Stay well group!

Christina, I understand your frustration! Im surprised about how slow im losing as well. I started the program at 304, and im 257. However, im grateful for losing this much. This week I have lost a few lbs. Have you started moving more? Im doing more exercise, so I can jump start the next set of lbs instead of being in a stalling phase. We'll see if it works! Stay focused, and live in the greatness you possess! Best, Joan

Hello group... I have a question in hoping there is someone out there woth same experience. When I get nauseated, and then I start to vomit, of course minimal fluid will regurgitate... but I get such pressure in my frontal area of mt skull, which in return I get a horrible headache. Has anyone has this experience?

Just to add Pure African Shea butter really helps jpint pain. I live by this stuff. Again, it has to be the pure stuff. I usually by it at a local African store in the Houston area.

Beni, i totally get it! Personally, inwas never a big fan of exercise, obviously! But, after im done..I love the feeling! But, what I have done is made a Vision Board to help me achieve my goals. Its nice to look at it everyday so I can live in my moment for my truth. I have lived for years in my fat world which I did not allow me to be my best, so losing this weight is helping me peel away the.layers of my issues. I hope this makes sense to you.. its a bit deep, but its where I am emotionally. I have to say joining this support group has been an enormous helpto me.. its wonderful to chat with people who understand. Family and friends are wonderfully supportive, but really dont get the full understanding as to what bariatric patients go thru! So to ALL you, thank you for your support and wisdom!

Hey dc0520! Im about 2 months post surg and have lost about 40lbs as well. Total loss of 67lbs. I just need to incorporate more exercise to expedite more wt loss. How are you doing with the exercise component?
-
Beni, I hear you! For weeks itnwas sondifficult to transition to more solid foods. My MD told me the pouch was still inflammed and angry. I still prefer soft foods because I know it'll go down relatively well. My weight loss has been steady. I started at 292 and im 257. Surgery oct 6th. I thought id be down more, but im not exercising as I should, so thats on me. However, today will be a nice walk around a lake. Hang in there!
-
Beni, congratulations!! What a big victory! Find the time to celebrate and acknowledge this eenormous goal! Im so proud of you!! Do you feel the difference?
-
Fingers crossed regarding the liver outcome. Are you on any medications which will eleviate your liver enzymes??
-
If your RA doctor wont continue to see you, ask your surgeion who he would recommend. I'd also make a complaint to the Board of MD. Kind of sounds like he's violating some of your patient rights. By chance do you live in the Houston TX area?

Luna, I feel your pain! Thru this adjustment time our bellies are still healing. Theres inflamed tissue at the pouch that is angry. So for awhile its just going to challenging. Sugarfree Ice pops are my new best friend too! Keep your eyes on the prize.. feeling good and looking good.

Hey Pink! Im about 7 weeks out. My comfort zone are soft foods. Beef/steak is nit a fun experience. However ground beef, turkey goes down well in small bites. My stomach did not like the steamed veggies today. So, just go slow and your body will let you know. Best, Joan

Hi Christina! I completely understand where your coming from! It sounds like your episode was from nothing in your pouch and the acid in your pouch was angry, thus the vomiting. Its still an adjustment period. I got nauseated today after I ate steamed green beans. Go figure!! One consistent thing I eat and ive had no adverse.. sugar free ice pops! Love em! Ive have felt in the past ive eaten too much, but im just listening to my body in addition to follwong the perimeters. Ive started going to support groups bimonthly.. what a relief to talk and know thay what im experiencing is all normal. How has your weight loss been? Best, Joan
-
Thanks Beni. Most definitely my mouth is open! Yesterday's episode expelled only a quarter size yellow fluid/ which seemed to be gastric juice. Im trying to be cognitive of the amount of food, which is about 1/4 or 1/2 food. I appreciate your feedback. This truly is an adjustment.. which I am glad I finally made.

Hello Everyone. It's so refreshing to read all the posts, and know many of the things I am experiencing seem to be the norm... but, I feel like im pushing the envelope, so to speak. Im trying foods that I should not be eating... like i ate 3 fried shrimps, and french fries. I chewed the ff, and then spit them out, bc of the fear of them getting stuck. Im not measuring foods.. it is just crazy that I am not as compliant as I should be! Help! Food sabatoged before gastric bypass! Why am I doing it again!!!

Hello October 2014 post surgical peeps! My name is Joan. My surgery was 10.6.14! Im 6 weeks post.op!!! Im still adjusting to the do's and dont's. I'm 30lbs down. I see the number on the scale move, but I don't feel the loss. I guess because theres so much weight to lose, I just see all my imperfections. I'm looking forward to talking with you guys, and providing support!
