    September sleevers wanted!

I don't have a date yet, I was hoping for September. I have about 150 lbs to lose.
  2. I noticed your remarkable weight loss. I am beginning the process of doctors and specialists now, hoping for surgery in September. I would love to see your before and after pictures.

  3. I was scheduled for lapband surgery in December 2007, I woke up in the ICU and the band was not put in, I got five new holes in me though. I was devastated! The doctor said something about my liver being too large and my spleen too mushy. And that was that. I could try again in a couple of months. It has taken me two and a half years to consider wls again. This time I want the sleeve. I have my first appt. with the surgeon in two weeks. I'm afraid to get my hopes up again, I was so disappointed last time. But I feel that if I don't do something now with a bmi over 60 I will probably die of other causes. Hang in there Lou, I too have lost weight too many times and gained them back +.
  4. I Had surgery on 12/17/07. I did the lowfat diet and pre-opt diet. I went in to surgery and they couldn't put the band in because the surgeon said my liver was too heavy. People who have had gastric bypass done said they needed to have a sonogram done prior to surgery. Has anyone had to do this for the band. Imagine my disappointment to wake up in recovery to find out that 7 incisions later, no band.
  5. I was on a liver shrinking diet and pre-opt diet. I found out later that the doctor told his p.a. that my spleen was too mushy. he said if he had converted to an open surgery he could have damaged my spleen and that with an open it would have caused me more trouble than it was worth.
  6. Surgery tomorrow 17th at 6am. I am calm at the moment. I can't wait to have real food again. I've been on clear liquids since noon yesterday. I'm not as hungry today as I was yesterday. But I was told to be on clear liquids until the 20th. Hope everything goes well for everyone here. Me included.
  7. I also couldn't sleep with those wires and multiple trips to the bathroom. I would refuse to do another study, I can't sleep anywhere but my own bed and I have trouble doing that. duh! I hated it and I don't see why that's necessary. I think it's another way to get money from the insurance companies. BTW my insurance company paid almost $5,000 for my study in August.

    For those who have PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2003. My sympthoms:infertility, diabetes, cystic ovaries and breasts, hair loss (hair on chin though). They say after this surgery to be prepared to lose hair but that it will grow back. My hair is thin now, I may have to buy a wig.
  9. The same thing happened to me. I was so sure before I got a date (12/10) then all of a sudden I started doubting myself. I prayed a lot and I'm back to feeling confident that this is what I want to do. I do always lay out my insurance folder whenever I go into a hospital just in case. (Never know what you can catch there). I'm anxious now because surgery is just days away and I'm trying to fight a cold, if I still have it on Monday they won't do it, and it will be another month before I get a date.

    Christian bandsters

I believe that God led me to do this. I never considered wls, I found a Dr. about an hour away and went to all his doctors and did all those tests but I really wanted to do this closer to home. I really didn't want to put anyone out of their way to take me to and from the hospital. I don't know why but the surgeon's office never returned my calls, I was beside myself, but put my trust in the Lord. I now have a Dr. locally who will band me on December 10th. I feel peace about this now. I feel that God gave me the desire of my heart and I am sure everything is going to be okay.
  11. I am also going to be banded in December (10th). I had the gall bladder removal surgery my doctor recommended in August. I have sleep apnea and it seems that coming out of anesthesia was worrisome I had to be re-intubated. I needed an asthma treatment when I awoke and then released same day. Just make sure the anesthesiologist knows she suspect sleep apnea so that they can be more alert. I had the sleep study done, and they couldn't really get a good reading on me because I was up so often during the night. Who can sleep with all those wires? Surgery is always risky, I make sure I pray before I go in. Good luck with your surgery, I have about 160 lbs I need to lose and hope that at my age (54) I will be successful. I think if I'm not banded now I will die too early.

    Second Thoughts

I am so glad to hear everyone has had doubts. I am 3 weeks away from surgery and I have felt really positive about my decision up until the last two days. I don't know what's come over me. I too, am afraid to fail at my second chance. Now I feel a little better and feel confident that the doubts will pass. Thank you all.
