  1. I would suggest that you go to your Dr. and start you 6 month Dr. Supervised diet, most insurances will not even consider paying for the surgery unless you do this and if you do it while you are researching it the time will go by faster.
  2. My surgery date is January 8th with Dr. Kelly Francis with Dr. Laports office. My journey has only been 8 months, but it has all been worth it. As for getting pregnant, there are several threads on this website for those who are and have been while banded.

    Feeling Discouraged...

I know it is normal to worry, but think positively...you are worth it and don't worry about it until there is something to worry about.......I am waiting for my insurance to approve the surgery and I want the surgery and I deserve the surgery and until they tell me that I am denied (at which time I will appeal as I did just to get the consult) I believe I will get the surgery. Good Luck...you deserve it! Sue
  4. I just wanted to give my 2 cents worth.... You are putting a foreign object in your body, but less than 1% have a reaction to that. From what I have researched and heard in seminars..the lapband is for life, there is a POSSIBIITY that after many years (over 10-15) it may need to be replaced..how ever the manufacturer states it is for life. Like any surgery or anything we do in life they have to try and give you all of the worst possibilities so you know them even though the reality of having it happen are slim. I am not banded-paper work is in the hands of the insurance company as at this time, but have researched between the lapband and bypass for a year and have chosen the lapband for many reason. Good luck on your journery, keep on this website as you will learn alot. Sue
