Did horrible on my first month of doctor led WL program...
kkarryall replied to AmberK's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also did horribly on my 6 month diet...I think I lost 10 lbs total...some months lost nothing, 1 month I gained. Thank God, I made it through and insurance approved me...and now I am doing so well.... -
I agree with the "back to basics" post. Go to your Dr. --get a fill, if needed. For me the fills have motivated me the most, when I am restricted I am in control. Good luck!!

Before and after Food Budgets
kkarryall replied to AprilShowers2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I spend about the same on groceries. But I am much, much less likely to order out and I used to spend a ton on fast food and take out. So overall, I think I spend less. -
Stop asking me how much weight I've lost!
kkarryall replied to tripletmomma2000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the same problem...I don't mind telling the people that I love; but lots of people that are not even that close to me just keep asking and asking. So now when they ask me "How much weight have you lost?" I just say "A lot." -
old bandster looking for support, direction, advice
kkarryall replied to typoqueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Personally I need more than 5 ccs to feel properly restricted. You might want to see yor doc for another fill....that might give you some more motivation!! Good luck!! -
Try these..they are delicious, although not low fat!! Bacon Wrapped Dates Stuffed with Blue cheese - All recipes

What happens when you fill your band to the max?
kkarryall replied to BellaNena's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have excellent restriction, I am almost too tight in fact. Currently I have 6.2 ccs in my band which holds 10 ccs. So I am definitely not worried about being filled to the max!!! -
Been stuck for awhile but finally want to do something about it.

Definitely, definitely go in for another fill!! You CAN get back on track Good luck! -
drinking before eating?
kkarryall replied to marmar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always drink up until I eat, then wait ahwile after... -
My surgeon allows me to drink diet coke...but unfortunately, I no longer enjoy it..the bubbles really bother me!!
-
Intriguing...not sure....definitely has to be better than sitting, burning close to no cals, right?
-
Personally, I didn't feel restriction till my 5th fill....it is very common that most people do not feel restriction until at least their 3rd fill. For me, it is quite obvious that the lapband is not a placebo. It is a very distinct feeling once you get to the right restriciton. Of course, I do still battle real hunger --sometimes--and head hunger most of the time.

Well when I began I was a size 24 and I think I had to lose like 40 pounds before I went into a 22.....it was totally depressing!!!!!! But now as I have gotten smaller, the sizes go down a lot quicker. Somtimes I lose 6 pounds and I am down another size. Very weird.

Glad you liked it!!

I modified this recipe for us lapbanders. It is often difficult to get my veggies in so this recipe helps with that! I made one packet of instant mashed potatoes according to package instructions. Next, I cooked a head of cauliflower until soft. Put it in the food processor with salt, pepper, and two ounces of low fat cream cheese. Blend until creamy and mix with the instant mashed potatoes. Set aside. Next, I ran 1 lb ground beef through the food processer--just to break it up a little more. Brown the ground beef and add 1/2 cup chopped onion. In food processer, purree one can mixed veggies. Once beef is browned, add mixed veggie puree, garlic powder, and one can cream of mushroom Soup. Spread beef/soup mixture in 8X8 baking dish. Spread cauliflower/potatoes on top. Top with 1 cup shredded low fat cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

How many fills have you gotten? Do you follow the rules like protein first, no drinking while eating, etc+?
-
You have just got to be patient! I am 16 months out and am still not at my goal weight. I have done very, very well...but it takes time. Follow the rules, do your research, go in for your fills...it will all come in time.

Mental Block...Why do I do this?
kkarryall replied to bashful1269's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First off....I do think you should get a fill. Once you lose more weight you will have more self control and confidence...and you need to band to help get you there. Second, I think you should keep going to your therapist. I have gone to my therapist for about 1 1/2 years and I am just starting to get to the bottom of things!! Good luck! -
Are you counting your calories? You could also try changing up your exercise routine...not sure if you do the same thing each time...And of course...what about getting a fill? I don't think typically I can eat a cup of food at a time..I usually eat abotu a 1/2 cup and I am fairly tight right now. Good luck!!

I was so anxious before my surgery. I had never had surgery or anesthesia before. BUT...it went so well!! And it was hoenstly a very easy recovery for me. No regrets here!!!!!
-
Keep researching to figure out what procedure will be best for you. I am 5'2 and was 280...I have lost about 127 lbs...and still losing. Good luck!
-
Congrats on your decision! How exciting! Good luck

There are many things that have helped me in my lapband journey...researching and knowing what I was getting myself into, getting my fills on a regular basis, exercising, and one of the most helpful has been going to see a therapist. I have gone weekly since about 3 months before I got the surgery. I have learned so much about myself, why I eat, etc. You should try it if you can Good luck. You can do this!

I have it too, it is a great workout!! I have not committed to doing it everyday though. I go to the gym and do this on occasion when I can't get there...I must admit it is a tough workout and I always hurt the day after  Let us know how you're doing on day 30!

do you think i would be ok if i did this ?
kkarryall replied to fatgirlnomore7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wouldn't drink the juice...it's just empty calories. How about drinking a shake for breakfast, and for lunch and dinner having 4 oz of a lean protein (chicken breast, tuna fish, salmon) paired with lots of veggies. Just be careful not to add too much fat to the meat and veggies. Good luck!!
