Honestly, I am sure you are fine.....keep us updated...

I am also very close to my goal---about 10 lbs---and I feel like I am working so hard with little results!! Part of the issue is I got my band loosened--by choice--so I really have to make good food choices, and control my portion size....at least more than I used to. So I just started going back to the gym...hoping that will jumpstart my metabolism!! Good luck :sifone: Keep us updated with your progress

Some people are so rude...but sometimes those comments do drive you even harder!! So good luck :sifone:

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Need Support---Band Date 2/12
kkarryall replied to divalicious's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I was also nervous about going under as I had never had surgery before....but I was fine! And I am sure you will be too...the liquid diet is tough. You just have to do it, it gets a lot easier once you get the band. It is still hard, but not as hard as that liquid diet! The liquid diet is to shrink your liver so the surgeon can more easily place your band, so just stick to the diet. Good luck :sifone: -
well I am almost to goal myself, and I don't think the food obsession will ever be gone for me. Only time will tell I guess. It is a lot easier and I have made a lot of lifestyle changes, but my life still revolves around food...just in a different way!

Well if it is any consolation, I didn't feel restriction until my 5th fill....hope things get better for you!! -
Surgery tomorrow and I'm anxious
kkarryall replied to momran's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very normal , everyone is scared. For me the pain was very little...with 4 days I was feeling back to myself. Only took the pain meds twice. As far as eating, I think I was on liquids for 2 or 3 weeks, then mushies for 2 more weeks, and finally solids. I am sure you will do great!!!! Good luck -
Not sure why.....Describe your symptoms? WHat can you eat when you feel too tight? How much is your surgeon extracting at a time?

Help! I SOO want to cheat!!!
kkarryall replied to oceansunset24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember the purpose of the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver so your surgeon can more easily put the band around your stomach. There have been people on here who cheated on the pre-op diet and woke up after going under anesthesia ....with no lapband!! Their liver was too big......That kept me from cheating on mine!! Actually I did cheat once, and had a handful of nuts.....but thank God that didn't effect anything. -
Surgery was just yesterday but having PB nightmares already!
kkarryall replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well first of all, you probably won't have to deal with this for awhile--as typically most people don't reach restriction until their 3rd fill (or in my case my 5th fill!!)--although some people feel restriction right away....You will just have to really focus on life style changes...focusing on chewing food really well, and when you are with a group of people who don't know about the band, then you will have to eat "Safe" foods, such as soups, or chili, etc. You will learn what these are for you as you go along...Good luck -

Never thought 299 would feel so good!
kkarryall replied to acasner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats!!! Great job -
For me, given my age (32) I figured I'd try lapband first because it is removable,e tc. I am happy with my decision

definitely call your surgeon, but most likely you just irritated your esophagus or soemthing. I had a little blood in my vomit once and called my surgeon. She put me on liquids for a couple of days....I was fine...

Yes it is perfectly acceptable to wear black with brown these days...I see people doing it all the time!
-
Unfortunately, there are many, many people for whom the band "did not work." However, it is really not the ban, but the brain behind the band that does the work.

2 fills.....no restriction?????
kkarryall replied to Kelleeelliott's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is very normal to not feel any restriction at only two fills. I finally felt restriction after 5 fills....until then I had to just diet. Not fun, but I did lose weight that way. ONce you feel restriction, it really is so amazing.... -

six years out and having eating problems
kkarryall replied to sjwilde's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It sounds like you might need an unfill...but how far along are you in your weight loss journey? Are you at goal? Or do you still need to lose a lot? Good luck... -
Eating around the band means eating "slider foods" or foods that go down real easily...even when you have restriction. These foods are different for different people. But....for a lot of people, these might include ice cream, chocolate, chips, etc. IN order to avoid this, you can go to therapy to figure out why you might over eat, and just use willpower...which is hard, I know!!!
-
I'd say your chances are slim to none..sorry.

Before surgery I wore an 8 to 81/2...now I consistently wear a 7.

Did your insurance tell you that they won't cover it if you gain weight? Or are you just guessing? That was not the case with my insurance....I only lost 10 lbs over the 6 month period, I even gained weight some months....I totally FEEL your frustration....As far as advice...maybe just try a low carb diet where you're eating lots of lean protein and veggies, and try to cut out junk and sugar and bread, etc. I have found if you can stick with that for a few days a lot of the cravings do go away....good luck to you!!
