I had my sleeve done on May 29, 2014. My surgeon doesn't seem the easiest to ask questions an get a response that is more than just "in time". I have no idea what I should be eating and not nor how often or how much. My family doctor tries to help as much as she can but admits she doesn't have much experience in that area. I have lost 75 pounds so far but the last 6 weeks nothing. At this point I feel like this is just not working well for me or I'm doing something wrong. I try to stay positive but at this point it's very hard. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow so simple tyvm!!

I feel restriction yes. I don't eat or drink nearly enough I do know that. As for a local support group there are none in my area. It doesn't help that my surgeons office gives me no help or guidance. I am getting maybe 400 calories a day. Which I now know I need to eat more and drink more.

Tysm I have gotten more advice on here then at my doc office. Sadly no groups near me. I am currently trying myfitness pal. I still can't seem to handle a lot of foods but I've had trouble with that from day 1. I just feel very frustrated.

Anyone stop all Thyroid Rx post op?
Lovebuggie replied to JaneJaneDoe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 7 months post op down 75 pounds. My doc has lowered my dosage twice already and says there's a slim chance of coming off of it completely. -
There isn't one

I had a woman do mine she asked me a ton of questions from early childhood up until the day I went to see her. I had no other appointments after. She asked me to answer some quiz questions. Other than that it was simple. However I did tell her I couldn't remember what I did 20 minutes ago let alone 20 years ago. So I guess she didn't think I was too crazy or maybe she did and was said to herself get this crazy lady out of my office I don't want anymore visits with her. They just like to make sure your confident in making the decision to change your life. I went through lots of hurdles and that one was the most boring 3 hours of my journey.

Okay I'll definitely try to increase calories and drink more.

Yes I know I need to drink more I've never been one to drink more than 16 oz a day but I do push myself to drink more. I find it very hard.

I eat a Greek light yogurt about 9am around 11 eat 1oz of peanut butter at 1-2 eat a fiber one bar 5-6 eat dinner like baked chicken with steamed veggies 8-9 usually some sort of fruit like apple banana or natural pop corn. Honestly I drink 2 bottles of water if that a day with flavor packs.no alcohol or carbonated beverages at all once a month I may have a glass of unsweetened tea.

Ty all. I don't log food exercise or fluids. Although I will start. I have tried to find a nutritionist to help me however they all say they aren't experienced in my case and I need to go back to my surgeon but when I do that he says only 1 visit per 2 years. When I first saw her she wasn't much help just told me portion control. Which tells me absolutely nothing. I'm starting to feel like this is just a huge disappointment. I no nothing more than I did at day one. Every time I see my surgeon I ask questions an he dances around them I've spoke to the office manager everything I could possibly think of an have come up empty handed. So I continue to be in the dark. I thought if I turned to this I could get some insight on how to go about eating drinking exercise and such. I will definitely get a scale an do the food tracking. I thank you all for your help.

Ty sadly I've struggled with this from day one my surgeon was no help at all from day one. I try to do protein low carbs and small portions. However I feel like you just never know when enough is too much an such. Just pure frustration!

Hi I had my sleeve done 5/29/14. I started my journey at 303lbs and being my heaviest. Today I'm down 75 pounds. I have certainly had my share of ups an downs but for the most part I'm happy with my results. I still struggle with the diet portion of not really knowing what's best to eat and when. I feel like I'm starving 24-7 and my surgeon has not been of any help to me. So if anyone could share ideas or what you eat/drink in a 24 hour period I would greatly appreciate it.
-
I certainly will start to exercise as well.
-
Wow they both sound amazing. Where do you purchase the protein powder? My surgeon said no caffeine at all but I could do decaf.
-
Thank you I certainly will try to make these changes an appreciate all the advice given. I don't eat much at one sitting either I can eat usually 1 egg and I feel like that's pushing it. If anyone has protein drink recipes/ideas they would like to share I would greatly appreciate it. I honestly don't exercise much but I stay active.

I add sugar free water packets for flavor and I have also tried plain. Even before my surgery I wasn't a big drinker. I avoid soup period it just doesn't stay down. I eat a lot of yogurt cheese and very little chicken on occasions I will eat crackers or nuts. I've been at a plateau for almost 4 weeks now it's starting to get frustrating.... I have tried every protein drink powder and bar I could possibly find and it just comes back up. My family doctor even went as far as to have the nutritionist create protein drinks that didn't help either. My surgeons office is of no assistance to me at all which is sad. So I turn to the Internet for any advice or help. I'm to the point where it's depressing an I just want to give up but I know I can't.

Thank you for the advice. I'm not on a acid blocker and I do have trouble getting my liquids in. I tend to drink 1-2 16oz bottles of water daily. As for the protein I struggle with it. I find it hard to find things I can tolerate. There are no support groups offered sadly and my surgeons office seems to not like to answer any questions. I asked to see the nutritionist but I've still yet to get in with her after several calls with no reply. It's very frustrating

My journey seems out of sink?
Lovebuggie replied to athena3127's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 5 months post op and have lost 75lbs. My expectations of the rate of losing the weight was certainly much more at this point. As many people will tell you everyone's rate will vary. Take it one day at a time and remember as long as your weight is going down your a step further in the right direction. Congratulations on your journey.
