Tummy Tuck Scheduled- Now Tons of questions
urnoturcar posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Okay, I did it. I scheduled my TT. But now I am sort of freaking out. Its 6 weeks out. What do they do about your port? Does it change? Do you HAVE to get an unfill? I'm seeing both. Anyone who has had the band and then a TT please let me knwo about your experience. I am about 10lbs from goal, and my doctor tells me that this will help me get there... because I'll actually be able to work those muscles again after the repair. After 3 children by csection they feel this is the right time. -
You guys are so helpful! So even though I dont feel it now I may later? That's just odd, isn't it? Of course My doc has put me on mushies for now but I am so curious to see if I "feel" it like you all do. The interesting thing that I have always encountered is that I can loose the weight, I just slowly gain it back... so I am hoping the band is the right tool for me. One thing I thought to ask too was does the amount of fat tissue on your tummy make a difference? I assume it would as they tell you to go on your liquid diet to help with fat tissue on your liver. I assume as you loose more you need more.. but I hear so many different things. You experienced banders are very helpful and I am on here all day long trying to learn and help others. Thank you again!

Okay so I had my surgery on 11/12 was super easy..Honestly could not tell i really had surgery. Then on 12/10 I had my first fill. I have no clue how much i actually got in my band, or how big my band is. For the last month I feel like I never even had surgery. I go tomorrow for a new fill, but worried I will be one of the few that is abnormal or that this will not help me. I certainly am eating less and lost nearly 20lbs, but I have been hovering at that for nearly a month now. ( Mind you I did eat some bad things for the holidays , but not many) I just worry that i am not normal for band paitient. Any advise or words of wisdom you all might have is greatly appreciated. My docs office said they fill so slowly so you learn to eat, but the day of the fill they also said my pouch was the size of an egg, and I can assure you it is not LOL .. I know it sounds silly but i want those golf balls, can't eat too much.. i mean afterall isn't that how the band helps. Did you all feel the same way? Is it why i see most people really start loosing 3-4 months post surgery??? :help:

Okay, so i went in today. I now have had 2 fills and at 5cc's in a 10 cc band. They did say if I felt nothing that i could call my doctor and get approval to get another one in 2 weeks. I just wonder when I will be able to be full on very little like i hear many others... perhaps not golf balls, but right now I just feel like i have never had anything done. Does it take the larger bands more to fill up?? I did however loose 5pds this last month and that was even with the holdiay treats!

Hey all, Could i get some advise? I worry i am not getting enough nutrients because i am not hungry at all. It's day 6 and i could care less if i eat anything. I keep sipping broth and forcing myself to get at least 4 oz of a protien shake in a day and an occasional popsicle, but other than that i am not hungry at all. Is this normal? Is there a supplement i should be taking? Im sipping lots of water and trying to get broth down, but worried.... (it is kind of nice not having any desire to eat, but a bit concerned )

Yes, that's it just yesterday. I was so nervous and nearly backed out... but i was in at 11 am and home in bed by 1:30. So far so good. I did research for nearly 2 years, and utiilized this forum many many times. You have no idea how supportive you have been just reading all your posts. Needless to say I did not chicken out and was up and helping my youngest son with his homework in a matter of hours. A little sore, a little weak, but all and all so far so good. Far better than i expected.

Yes, I am a little worried i am not getting enough calories in, but then heck i got reserves Im so sorry to hear your trip out was less than perfect. Are you driving? I think i can, but dont know when i am allowed to. I'd love to drive to the grocery store and get some different broth. I can eat like 4 bites of Jello and be full. I hope you keep getting better! When does the tummy swelling go down?
-
Today is day 4 and you would be amazed how easy it really is. I assume my tummy is still swollen because i cant drink much. One protien shake lasts all day and I sip on that and Water. I have had some broth which feels really good being warm. The heating pad is my best friend, and the only thing that has really got me is coughing or hicupping, those hurt so i have a pillow i hug if i am about to do either. Im not hungry and have not been, but i know it's important to get some nutrients in. Hence why i work on the shake all day. Milk made it too thick so i use water. My tummy is still swollen by sight but the scars or little cuts look pretty good. A little bruising, but nothing that is too bad... I'll keep people updated because i know it's what really helped me. Alfie- Good luck on your surgery... do you have a date yet?

Well today is even better. I think I started to get a little hungry or it could be just gas. I decided to mix up a Protein shake and I could only drink about 2 ounces of that before I felt like i had a whole Thanksgiving meal. My husband went out and bought the magic bullet for me and if you dont have one, it's one of the best things yet. During my preop diet i struggled with the blender trying to get the protien shakes actually blended and then the clean up and so on. This thing is great. It makes a perfect shake in seconds and I think i'll really use it when i move on to thicker foods. Minimal pain. I found it real relaxing to sit in my bath tub with hardly any Water, so i did nto soak my tummy I'm still pretty swollen but not too bad, the heating pad really helped and the gas-x strips are a life saver. I would do this again in a heartbeat. I can't believe i nearly chickened out. I can already tell this is the tool that is going to help. I'll post more later and keep everyone posted.

Yes, today i feel weak and tired, but I hope we can keep eachother up to date being banded so close together. I did take a week off work, I know many people don't but i had the time, and i wanted to make sure i could heal and rest accordingly. Are you eating yet? Your yummy liquids? i tried to drink one of my Protein shakes and could not get through a quarter of it. I do already feel better having that in me though. Im very interested in your progress!!!! Thanks for the support!!!

Lapband scheduled but waffling!
urnoturcar replied to marymaz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Mary, I was banded yesterday and really struggled too. I lost nearly 55pds about 3 years ago and this past year it slowly came back on. so i struggled with, i did a huge chunk before, and feeling like a failure working so hard to loose so much. For me I know i CAN loose the weight, but i need help keeping it off. I think that the band is a tool to help you. I questioned myself. I would go back and forth and feeling like i could do it alone that i just needed stonger will power, did i really need to do this. I was close to backing out just moments before they came in to put me to sleep. I woke up and was all done before you know it. I know i dont know what the months have to offer ahead, but am very excited to give this a try. I think if you think of it as a tool to help you and you follow what they say the majority of the people find this successful. I have 4 co workers that have had this done and it's changed thier life, not just the vanity part, but the health part. Being a mom I want to be healthy and active for my kids. I encourage anyone to do lots of research and consider what's important to you. For me I had 3 csections and this was NOTHINIG compared to that. So although surgery itself is scary, I like to encourage people that it was really easier for me than i expected. Good luck in whatever you decide!!! -

Okay, don't get too jittery!! I just got banded yesterday and was so nervous nearly backing out just before they came in and gave me my meds to be put to sleep. It was very easy for me, and I was so scared, but so far so good  A little pain, but not much, and I was done so quick. Good luck! i know it's scary!!!
