Caffeine withdrawal!
lilypat407 replied to lilypat407's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks all. I will probably use No-Doz for my caffeine fix once I stop the Anacin. I'll give it up gradually next time. BTW I have taken 3 doses in the past 24 hours and I am soo much better than I was past couple days. I was so sick compared to today. What a wake up call! ???? -
Sleeve date 12/15/14 - my doc has me on 2 week liquid diet. Very sad about giving up my 2 cans of diet coke a day but I'll get by. By second day dull headaches started. I wondered if it was withdrawal. Then I remembered that I also stopped my 2 Anacin (aspirin/caffeine) at same time. Been taking those for 20 years. Then I read up on the condition and the list of symptoms was just about everything I was feeling! At day 4 there was just no way I was going to get through this. The withdrawal caught me by surprise. So I called my doc and asked if the diet could be causing it. He said not likely. Then I told him of my prior caffeine use. I was so relieved when he told me I can use my Anacin up to 7 days b4 surgery. I thanked him profusely. Sure enough. It worked. Headaches stopped last night. However, I couldn't sleep last night which is one of the withdrawal symptoms. Hopefully when I get a dose or two in me today I will have a better night.

I wonder why you only have to diet for 7 days and not 2 weeks like me. My surgery is on the 15th and I have 100 pounds to lose. -

Surgery 12/15 and feeling crappy from liquid diet. -
Hi! I'm a newbie here. My name is Susan and I'm 61 years old. I've been on the diet roller-coaster since I was 18. Usually I'd lose 30 pounds. Then gain it back plus. Up and down up and down. I just can't go through another diet only to 'fail' again. I needed something to help me keep it off. I started to read everything I could on weight loss surgery. Thirty years ago I remember thinking to myself that if I had the means I would definitely have opted to have it. Now that the means are available I am looking forward to it. Currently I am 250 pounds with a BMI of 30. I am 5'5 with a large frame. My goal would be perfect at 150. I am on day four of the liquid diet and I feel crappy. I have caffeine withdrawal headaches because I had to stop diet coke. Are there others like me who are having the same problems? How long will they last? I don't want to get discouraged but when I think of eight more days of this I'm not sure I'll make it. Thanks for listening.
