WAS TOTALLY AGAINST PLASTIC SURGERY UNTIL I WOKE UP....
naturreal replied to Womanvsmirror's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I so wish I could donate these things to you cuz they are causing me even more back issues since I've lost more weight. I went from 48 HHH to a 42 G. Lost a total of 152 lbs so far & I'm doing all I can to strengthen my back but I run into aches at least 3 times a month. I was foolish to not want any other surgeries either but now I want them decreased in size & all the excess skin removed. Hell if possible I'll increase my buttocks a bit. My mother seems to think I'm addicted to surgery now at I'm on this line of thought. I'm comfortable with me but why not get it the way you want if you can.. -
What to expect after a ur with sleeve
naturreal posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Still trying to figure it out. Lost 125 so far & still dropping sizes. Sometimes I can do some food, less portions, more exercises... Just saying it's all inconsistent & believe me I'm not complaining, but this post is for the vets to explain expectations of weight loss surgery. -

Size dropping w/o major weight loss?
naturreal posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It's been a bit over a year & I've lost a little over 100 pounds. For the last 4 to 5 months the numbers on the scale aren't significantly changing but my pants sizes are still dropping 1-2 sizes per month. I'm happy I'm still making strides but curiosity has me wondering why it's happening this way & who has similar things happening. Please share... -
Size dropping w/o major weight loss?
naturreal replied to naturreal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have stuff I've never worn that's gotten too large for me to wear that I guess I'll try & sale. Yes, love the benefits of being able to get around quicker or without as much of a hassle as before. The simplest things we'd lost the ability to achieve are now within our eye sight. I've had a pot belly for so long it's been a reliable ritual to try moving around it but the joy of moving past it has gotten easier. -
Does everyone experience hairloss?
naturreal replied to mechidallas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yea, I've got locs too. I am worried because if my hair thins I know they will start to break off and then I will have to cut them. I've had them for 15 years and it would be a drag to have to start all over again. I am hoping I am one who does not get the hairloss. I noticed major losses in my locs, thinner roots, but I'm hanging in there. They aren't where they were when I began the growth it out but it's still growing & holding strong. I was tempted to cut it all off though because it's noticeable to me, but oil treatments & more gentle care have been working out this far. -
11 months months out & I've lost over 100 lbs. Throughout the time I've noticed I can sometimes eat more than usual & by that I don't mean over eating. It simply takes more to get me full than other times. This varies from day to day & I don't understand why... One day I can eat a cup of veggie soup, the next I can barely get a cup down. I'm not complaining just bad for when I want to measure all my meals. I've heard several ppl mention this after weight loss surgery but I don't know if they all have a day to day, & even within the same day, reaction. What causes this? Is this normal? Who has this same concern besides me?

Coming up to 1 yr post op
naturreal replied to naturreal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yesterday I drunk a shake only because I had to get my protein in but wasn't hungry at all... The night before I was starving & I ate chicken tenderloin & broccoli. It's not so much as irritating as it is trying to understand what is going on... -
Coming up to 1 yr post op
naturreal replied to naturreal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yeah... chicken tenderloin are generally the same (1-2) but fish varies. I bake nearly all the meats I consume... 4oz fish fillets I used to be able to eat the whole thing but now if I'm really starving I get less down. I've noticed the hungrier I get the less I eat. Soup is crazy to me cuz it's never consistent, whether its just both or veggie or meat inside, doesn't matter. -
Qustion to Vets: How did you know you had lost "Enough"?
naturreal replied to Terri Lynn1383837796's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think it's on your comfort level. Pre surgery @ 370 I'm at my 9 month mark & I'm currently weighing in at 280. I still have a gut & it doesn't look like I've lost the amount I've lost. Before surgery I lost 34 and so I'm looking for my comfort level. Not satisfied with my body yet so I'm gonna keep going & I only set out to for 100 off. Go figure. No I'm not a vet but I can understand where you're coming from... -
Anyone Else Feel Like They Will Suddenly Not Lose Any More?
naturreal replied to Chimera's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I lost 85 pounds & 5 sizes since April 23, 2014 for me. Crazy part about my weight loss story is my weight dropped within 6 months & when the weight stopped going the sizes went down 3 times. My waist holds all my weight so I'm just looking to drop more sizes asap. -
what to order in a restaurant.. Should I even go?
naturreal replied to maria88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't go wrong with soup, pudding or just water. -
Thanks. I go to see him next month. I'll be sure to ask about it. I mentioned it before but I guess he wrote it off as post op gas. See like I just got up for work & I haven't eaten nor am I hungry but this damn noise is going. If it stops it's probably because I stopped paying attention.

8 months out & my gas is still going strong. Lol. I walk a lot and no one thing is the cause. When I drink or eat I can still hear the gurgling. Soup or cold water. Slow or regularly. Some days I'll hear it while eating & others I hear it while sitting watching tv. About 3 weeks ago I had a cold & drank nothing but soup & the noises my stomach were almost embarrassing. Lucky for me I'm not one who cares but I'm concerned if anyone else goes through this. I can't burp anymore since surgery... Flatulence since surgery has always been hard to release but I'm sure not to hold it in. No pain just the bloated feeling from time to time. What's going on in there?
-
Well I have plenty of gas but mine doesn't stink. And I have to really push like I'm on the toilet at times to release em. Not so often as 5 minutes but at least once every 2 to 3 hours. The gurgling is what gets on my nerves. People ask am I ok and I'm like yep. Lol.
-
I still can't burp. I used to get out really long hard ones before but now I can only inhale & hope the gas comes up. My doctor told me back at my 3 months check in that some people don't get it back & some do. It's been this long but I'm still hopeful.

Proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a group of drugs whose main action is a pronounced and long-lasting reduction of gastric acid production.

Only took gas x as needed but it hardly helped.

Opposite of me, I love plain old water. I'll do flavor but I can't do it easily as the regular. When I first had surgery my differ was temperatures. Water had to be room temperature or hot. Nothing sweet or cold until maybe 2 weeks after. Protein shakes had to be room temperature and all... Sometimes you won't know what you can do until you try though. I just found out I can't do potatoes anymore. Can't tolerate them at all & I was doing potato soup and mashed potatoes at puree stage. Your body changes, just be patient in learning it's new feelings & making better decisions for the long term. Walking right now should only be to relieve gas from my experience. You have time to exercise after healing. Like I said all surgeons say different, but I agree with mine on that one... After week 3 that's when you'll really be able to kick it in & try pushing more on the distance then exercises.
-
Drink drink drink. Don't over do it on the walking so short trip to get more water when you finish one cup at a time is enough. At 4 days I don't think anyone is clear to take vitamins but everyone has different doctors so.... But for sure be patient with the process & you have to give your body time to heal. Going out isn't bad but for not you do need to rest & drink. At week 2 try doing more walking around like at malls & such. You don't want to pass out or forget to drink. It's crazy & sounds like it's overwhelming but at this point you can only handle so many ounces in your stomach but & ppl are all gonna say drink drink drink. Your muscles need hydration so if you aren't using it at least 6 times a day you aren't drinking enough. My doc told me that most people get weak & dizzy and end up back in ER due dehydration. And I felt it coming so I had to step it up + drink more. When or if they did end up in hospital they got put back on iv & sent home.

Seven months post op & I'm down about 80 pounds. I've noticed that I'm not dropping as much weight but my sizes are down, which is expected. Walking & portion control is my main focus. About a month ago I noticed problems processing potatoes... Mashed, in soups, baked, etc. When I was on puree mashed potatoes were a major item for me then. A few days ago for thanksgiving I tried again & it was fine. What's the deal? And we're talking same format & very little seasoning so I can't say it's a difference between when I can & can't. Anyone else experience these issues or is my sleeve so picky? Also even as clear liquid diet I never could keep drinking the same thing. If I try eating the same things now... Leftovers or drinks, besides water, I gag & get the urge to regurgitate.

It's been 2 weeks since my gf has had her bypass surgery & she has bruised her hands somehow. I'm convinced it can be from her lack of water intake because she's always sore & she drinks but I don't think it's enough. I had the sleeve so I try helping her out but she's set out on her own with saying she thinks she's doing well. So to you I ask, is it possible to get bruises on your body when you are not getting enough fluids? She probably drinks 20 oz a day cuz she says she's full. He'll I know 20 oz of water isn't enough but maybe she'll listen to you when she sees the responses... Thanks.

One thing I would be cautious with Medicare about is that they will stiff you on some meds... liquid pain meds are like 2-3 hundred dollars, so make sure your surgeon writes you a script that will be covered. My gf has this issue & went through post op with no meds after she was released home from hospital. Good luck everyone. They covered everything else though.

Does everyone experience hairloss?
naturreal replied to mechidallas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think when you do the big chop it helps. It's like when you shave your pits or legs. The hair stops growing so long at some point & until you shave it pops back the next day. Well at least with me.
