Anyone in England having their surgery or had surgery ?
Amina replied to tia92's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well firstly my stats are currently 17.3 stone. My highest weight was 23 stone. I tend to lose and gain a lot. Never getting below 17! Seems as I have been that weight for so long, when I lose weight and get back to 17 stone I feel comfortable and stall. I want the sleeve to break through that 17 stone. I am 5.6ft I would be happy to be 11 stone. Once Im there I would look at myself and see if I need to maintain or carry on losing. But who wouldnt love to be a size 8! I agree on getting a few good quality pieces of clothing rather than a huge pile of clothes that end up as rags soon after. I tend to shop at evans and the quality is good but the clothing style ages me Beyond my age. Im 29 years old today. ???? I do like smart classy styles though. A fitted little black dress with killer heals would be my motivation. I cant wait to wear it going out to dinner with my hubby. I also would love to have knee length boots with skinny jeans and a nice blouse for a casual look. Whats your current stats and goal? -

Since this post, I have been back to my surgeon. I wrote many things down regarding why I feel I want a sleeve. He must of saw how adamant I was about a sleeve as he said its my decision. I was offered surgery in December but declined due to going away over xmas. Im all set for February for my sleeve. -

Hi Kimzie. Welcome to the forum. Fab news on your date for a Bypass. I chose a sleeve as I felt it suited me more. My problem is always quantity, generally healthy foods but big portions. Im nhs but have had a private consultation back two years ago. I Just wasn't prepared to pay £10k. Glad I didn't As back than hurtful taunts from complete strangers is what made me want surgery. I was not thinking clearly and would not have been prepared, thus probably failing. Now since joining a slimming group my idea of food has changed. I have lost weight with it, 5 stone. I feel now Im ready and motivated to get a sleeve because I want to be healthy and happy. Their are not many people on here from UK. If you have facebook their are a few private groups you can join. Many people from all over UK. You may find a buddy near you. Good luck with your surgery, recovery and success in getting to goal. -

Try to get more protein from your meals rather than the protein shakes. Some protein shakes contain quite a bit of sugar. -

January 2015 Buddy Group anyone?
Amina replied to time for june's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hiya, Can I join! Im hoping for a sleeve end of January at Sunderland royal hospital, United Kingdom. ???? Currently 242 lbs age 29. -
Oh dear lord this made me laugh extremely out loud! Some one is still a bit dizzy from the meds. ????

I was awake for mine. I was given numbing throat spray only. Have to say it wasn't such a bad experience. I think the more you work yourself up over it, the harder it is. Gagged a few times but didn't feel like I was choking like past people I spoke to.

What shocks you now that you were able to eat in a sitting?
Amina replied to JALUVIC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Three large plates of buffet food and at least a bite out of All the Desserts. Had to try everything! Id say 4 hours later Id be eating again. I have also ate an entire large pizza over the course of a few hours in fear that my younger brother would eat it while I was asleep! ???? and he always did if I left it. Im pre op and can still do that, but since starting the process of getting a sleeve over a year ago, my whole concept of food has changed completely. Hence why I have lost 70lbs so far before my sleeve. -

Hi, how have you got on? I remember it being at least 7 + months that have passed since my seminar. I was giving a date on my last appt for December but I have refused, and asked for sometime in February as I do not want to spoil xmas for my family, and in January my husband has his important exams, so Early feb I will have the Sleeve. It will take some time from the seminar. You have to have your endoscopy first. Which will take a few months. Once thats done it will be another few months before an appt. The drs also have to discuss your case, and all agree. So you must make sure to keep losing weight from now. They wont accept you if you cant show a steady weight loss on each appt. I have been told if I gain over christmas my surgery will be postponed. So I have to diet ( I am joined with slimming world which are great) -
Sleeve date Dec 15. Started my preop diet 5 days ago. I can eat a piece of shoe leather right now, I am so hungry. Help!

Try your hardest to stick to it! It is so important to make that liver floppy so they can easily move it around. -
Thanks for that link! I never understood what NSV stood for ???? great link, definitely motivating.

Thanks all for the great input. It has gave me loads to think about and consider. Its been a year since starting all this, and maybe nerves are getting the better of me as it gets closer. I have always been overweight, my heaviest at age 17. 300+ Ive never known anything different. I only no what fat feels like. Nothing stops me from doing things with the kids. They are always my number 1 priority. Getting embarrassed at the park never stopped me. But I could feel the stares. I truly would love to be a healthy size. Not let my kids grow up with a fat mum. Also actually feel nice when dressed up and going out for dinner with hubby. Always get told what a pretty face I have, usually followed by its a shame your fat. Had that said to me by a complete stranger when I was just 14, and it has stuck with me forever. I like what was quoted, you have to trust that you as the parent know what is best in your life. I need to remember that. My stats. Age 28 (29 on 18th dec) Hw age 17 336 lbs CW 242 lbs Height 5.6 ft. ( do you guys use feet as measurements in the US?) Im still losing weight or maintaining some weeks. I have completely changed my ways with food. No processed all home made. No more snacking on junk but My problem is quantity. I have had my gall bladder out a few years ago, wonder what the stats are comparing the risks with a sleeve? Everyone around me does not want me to have surgery. My husband is the only support. I fear the negativity is rubbing off on me. Thanks again.

Im also behaving the same way. My surgery is planned for January. All I do Is wonder if I should really risk it. Its really hard as you get closer.
