Hey still waiting for a date for surgery , it have been a long process over a year and a 1/2 but am just feeling down about my weight and apart from the numerous medical problems that go with it , it really gets to me the way people judge FAT people I never really brought in to this belief before but it's true not everyone but the majority of 'normal' people out there literally hate us fat people and look down on us. Self confidence is at all time low atm ... Any positive stories or comments ???...???....

Hey thanks for the advise , i like to hear other people stories it puts me in a better frame of mind . How far out are u from surgery ?
-
@sray same here is just a waiting game except I don't know when my surgery will be realistically . I'm just waiting for my next appointment for pre op assessment as I have been approved after a years dieting programme , as long as I'm fit and healthy. .... I just want it now I feel like just to get it over with so I can feel better , reduce my problems medically , more energy to face the day and be able to do more things that I'm stopping myself from doing I feel like I'm in a prison in my own body ... But don't worry you will get there at least u have a rough Idea of when you will have it. If it is defiantly been approved ? If I was you I would start preparing to make the time go quicker buy some essentials and useful things you will need . Like some cute little food pots to store and freeze pre made healthy food portions , prepared for easy access , a drink flask so you can control how much your drinking , hospital bag , some comfy clothes for recovering in , some gym clothes for light excersise , some good vitamins , some hair care as you know hair thinning isn't the best look , good moisteriser for firming the sagging skin the list goes on .... Xx

@finding sassy thanks for the reply and great to hear your story , me and you have the same type of dad he is embarrassed of me but in my case mine has the whole thought process that fat people are fat because they're lazy and eat too much and us humans aren't designed to be fat. Thanks for sharing and has given me some more positivity xxx

Wow that's a lot of weight in 7 weeks , congrats ! Have a weird question for you ,as I just keep thinking and have the determination that I'm not always going to be fat what it would be like to loose a significant amount of weight .. I know your probably not at your goal weight 7 weeks out but do u feel different as a person ??? Or just the same ??? And it's just so annoying being fat since pre school, it's practically a part of growing up these days to be bullied about something so you'd think you would grow a thick skin and be able to deal with names and looks of superior people and staring and just listening to people fat bash directly at you or just in general conversation when your in a room talking about how bad fat is . I try to dissociate my actual self who I am as a person with my obesity as in obviously I want to look after my body and appear the best I can be but as obese goes I try to not let it define who I am or let it be the reason I'm less successful . I mean I'm sure there's some obese people out there who literally eat Mac Donald's for Breakfast lunch dinner and In between and don't try but for the majority of people who have experienced the brunt of obesity Lord knows we've tried to escape. It's just getting harder and harder these days to not let obese be your label , sometimes I wish I was invisible and get so embarrassed of myself low self worth etc .. I'm not vein in the slightest but I just can't wait for the day I can walk down the street and not have someone look at me like I discust them. Sorry for the long reply / rant x

Finally finished my tier 3 weight management programme which Is part of the compulsory programme before surgery is an option. It all went fine and feel very informed and know that surgery is right for me they have said I will be approved so long as there is no underlying medical conditions that can cause a problem . Etc .. So now I am literally waiting for a letter with the date of my next appointment to meet with surgeon etc ... And for routine tests .... Then after that I think I will be given my date for surgery . If my last appointment was in January does any one know how long till I receive the letter for my appointment with surgeon and other healthcare professionals will take .. Anyone with any insight would be very much welcomed .. Have been waiting for so long now I'm so ready !!!

Jumpsuit (shorts) style ... Is the most extravagant I think I could go I'd like to say I could wear a bikini because I'm 22 and Ive missed out on loads of girly holidays with my friends by making excuses such as 'I can't afford it ' or ' my boss won't give me the time off work ' ... Even though I would love to go and relax on a hot beach and do all the water sports . but even if I loose weight after surgery I'm pretty sure il be left with excess skin and that will look awful so il just stick to feeling healthy and looking slim with my flesh covered up . I don't think loosing weight will make me really confident but I am excited just to show my arms and legs wearing some shorts and vest on holiday and not have to cover up or feel like I shouldn't be wearing this even though it boiling hot . I feel like fat is offensive sometimes but roll on the days where we can go into the shops everyone else shops in pick something up and it actually be in your size . In the summer I cover up ! And in the winter I dress down hate wearing big warm coats as I feel I look like a whale so basically the same clothes all year round mainly black! can't wait for them days to be a thing of the past !!!!!!

Wow 2 years is great so your hair must be stronger . Yea And snap I don't have a surgery date but from my dates I have already from consultants ,dietitian and how long it took other people from the day they got approved I'm guessing my surgery will be around may too ! And yea I can imagine that especially when it's time to take it out because it won't have been brushed in a while the hair would just build up . Hmm it's a tough one I think the vitamins and protein will play a big part but next time I see my consultant I will ask but I will do my own research to see if there's anything that will really help

I've just been using raw organic coconut oil and coconut milk hair treatments . And taking vitamins . Was juicing 2x a day but is quite time consuming with work and all ..so need to get back in the habit of juicing because I did see more hair growth when I was juicing a lot .

I'm mixed race so I wouldn't say my hairs on the top end of the Afro scale it's more just thick and curly . But I like thick and curly do not want thinning out hair as I'm natural and haven't straightened my hair or been harsh with it in like a year to try and make it fully healthy pre op. As I knew surgery was on the cards ! that is actually the worst thing about this surgery makes me want to cry . Has anyone done any research or heard of a way to stop this . I'm pre op but this is the only downer for me along with sagging skin but I'm hoping I can prevent that by building muscle strength and elasticity at the gym post op when recovered .

God bless

Anyone in England having their surgery or had surgery ?
tia92 replied to tia92's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Reading the comments everyone's got surgery dates so soon ! So lucky ! Whatever you choose will be the right decision we all know what's best for ourselves and should follow our instincts for me if the bypass . My next appointments on the 4th and that's for a group talk about diet pre op / post op with everyone who's waiting . Then again on January 29th for a group talk about different surgeries ... Then the nurse said that's when the tier 3 ends and I get to decide wether I want to proceed with surgery or not . I don't know how long it takes from then on to get a surgery date / see all the other professionals ? Anyone know ? If the 29th is around when I get to accept surgery , I know I have to see the psychiatrist anethesist dietitian surgeon etc ... Am I looking at 1 , 2 , 3 ,4 , 5 months .? I just wish I could speed the process ! -

I'm in South East ???? don't be scared it will be worth it . Well I just wish I could speed up time I haven't got to that part yet but if / when I get the choice I will opt for gastric bypass it just seems more effective to me . .. And yea it will be a struggle but the benefits will out way that . The dietitian should help you with all the nutrition stuff and as for complications the surgery has been around for a while now so technology has come along way and they know so much more about aftercare from all the patients they have operated on. Not gonna lie I've never had a operation before so I can't say I won't be nervous before hand I think that will be my struggle but I feel confident for after though. I have so many health problems and my weight is stopping me from doing so many things . I'm 22 I want to be living life I feel like and old lady ! -
Ok thanks . Am not fizzy drinks person though . I've started juicing fruits and vegetables to increase my 5 a day . I'm a vegetarian so my main obstacle will be avoiding carbs like bread , pasta , rice , potatoes is basically what I've been use to and is not really going to be ideal post op ????
