Chewable Gas X. And yes, it gets better with time.

Do whatever you want. It is nobody's problem but your own.

Premier chocolate is about the only pre-made one I can stand. I also make them at home with almond milk, yogurt, peanut powder, sugar free vanilla syrup and unflavored Protein powder. Those are pretty tasty, as far as Protein shakes go...

Anyone lose 150+ pounds with the sleeve?
SuperDave replied to aliciac's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Of course it is possible. The sleeve will help, but it is still up to you. I have lost 195 pounds so far, but the first 150 were before I had surgery. I had the sleeve done to help push me to my final goal and keep the weight off. Just remember, it is not a magic pill. It is a very helpful tool, but the results will vary depending on how well you follow your plan. -
A bit sad and worried
SuperDave replied to DevilAngela13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are scared to talk to your mother about this, you could always show her this topic. Let her read what you wrote as well as the replies. Seeing positive responses from people who have been there already may help her understand. -
I am 2.5 months post op and I do get hungry. It is simply a matter of making good choices. I have a few sips of Protein shake or drink more Water when I have the urge to snack. It's just a matter of making good choices. I keep my diet very boring at this point, because I don't want to trigger any cravings.

Does your surgeon...?
SuperDave replied to CountryGirl5584's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just did the 2 week liquid diet, then only Clear liquids for the last day. But every surgeon is different. Follow your doctor's advise! -
Maybe just eat fleas instead. I imagine they are loaded with Protein.

A bit sad and worried
SuperDave replied to DevilAngela13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are choosing to have a medical procedure to help fix a medical problem. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't understand why people don't get it. If you needed to have heart surgery, would your mother tell you to try to work it out on your own? If you needed to have a cancerous tumor removed would she say it is too dangerous and you should try to lose it yourself? Of course not! The thought is ridiculous! There are times when surgery is the best option. This is YOUR decision, and only your decision. If you don't want to do it then don't, but it has to be your choice. If I were in your situation I would simply explain to my mother that this is what I have decided to do, and it is no longer open for debate. She can choose to be supportive, or she can choose to keep her negativity to herself. Period. -
I don't understand the feeling of "cheating" because you had weight loss surgery. Is having surgery for any other medical problem cheating? Is calling a plumber when you have a plumbing issue cheating? Is taking your car to a mechanic instead of fixing it yourself cheating? Is shopping at a grocery store instead of growing and raising your own food cheating? I'm pretty sure I could go on here, but you get the point. "Hey Bob, my appendix were about to rupture, so I cheated and had them removed." Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? If someone thinks you are a cheater for taking care of a medical issue, they are probably not someone you need in your life anyway. Screw em.

There is no reason to be afraid of trying new things. Just a little bit of something will quickly let you know if it is going to agree with you or not. I never fully switch from one phase to the next overnight. I always start gradually adding new things in to see how it will work for me. You could probably live the rest of your life on Protein shakes and Vitamins, but why would you want to? It is also important to remember that even if you can't handle something now, that doesn't mean it is gone forever. Your body will heal and adjust with time. No worries, you have got this!

Sudden dairy intolerance
SuperDave replied to Aerohead21's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went through a lot of chewable Gas-X in the month after surgery. The problem has improved since then. Everything gets better with time! -

Download new app-now I can't read post
SuperDave replied to Flygirl123's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
You don't have to use the app. Just go to the website on your phone or tablet and you will get a mobile optimized version of the site. If it doesn't automatically give you the mobile site, you can request it in your settings. Personally, I prefer the standard version on my tablet over either the mobile version or app. -
I can cross y legs
SuperDave replied to Justoperated's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is awesome! I had that same discovery one day. It feels great to do something so normal that I wasn't able to do for so long! -
Why is this awful stall bothering me so much?
SuperDave replied to gabrielle2014's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
THE STALL WILL BREAK! I know it is discouraging. I just went through a 3 week long stall, followed by a 10 pound drop in the last week. It will happen! Stay off the scale. Follow your diet. Exercise! Increase your walking, workout or whatever by 5-10 minutes a day. It will make a difference, and the more you do it the easier it gets. It happens to everyone! Worrying about it doesn't change anything. It will break. -
Congrats! Keep up the great work! I use a fitness tracker as well. It is a great tool. I find myself parking at the far end of the parking lot, taking the long way to the break room or restroom at work or just going for a quick walk when I have nothing else to do, all to up my step count for the day. It can be addictive, but it is a great addiction to have!

Im 2 weeks post op and my dr. has moved me to soft reg foods.. Help!
SuperDave replied to melissa'sjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I started the soft foods, I didn't do it all at once. Try just adding one soft food meal a day at first. Everything is an adjustment. Take tiny bites (use a baby spoon!) and chew until it just sort of disappears in your mouth. It gets better! -
Who is scared to give up food?
SuperDave replied to smile121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@smile121 - I don't think of it as giving up anything, I think of all that I am gaining. I had the same fears as you, but I have really found them to be unwarranted. I said in a recent post that my weight loss surgery decision came down to deciding what was more important to me, food, or literally everything else in life. Once you fully commit to that decision, there is no turning back. You can instead make walking (or some other suitable activity) your friend, enemy, bf, lover, etc. It is truly just as satisfying, and you don't fell like $#!* after you do it! You will find that food was not the helper you thought it was, but that it was actually what was holding you back from doing what you really wanted to do and being what you really wanted to be. -
I missed all the good stuff the last few days! This is amazing! Congrats @@Elode ! I would say keep up the great work, but I already know you will!

Apparently this site got AWESOME in the last 24 hours! And of course I missed it all. Stupid job! Lol!

Food/Supplement Questions for Post Surgery
SuperDave replied to ErinEllen1's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Yes, I was told straws were bad because they tend to make you gulp your liquids and increase the chance of swallowing air with your beverage. I still use straws, I am just very careful about it.
