having trouble with crushed meds and chewable calcium postop!
SuperDave replied to Kyotokitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried mixing them with a little bit of yogurt or Protein shake? That helped me a lot at first. -
Will this pass? Is this normal?
SuperDave replied to deftonestiffany's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you are as normal as any of us! At this point I would just concentrate on liquids and Protein. Don't worry about calories. Don't overthink your decision to become healthier. You have not made a mistake! What you have made is a huge change in your life. Just follow the program. You do your part and allow your body to do it's part and soon you will look back and realize there was nothing to be worried about at all! Best of luck on your journey! -
Difficulty Eating/Drinking Enough (4d post op)
SuperDave replied to HawaiianTexan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took a week before I got in all of the liquids and Protein that I was supposed to have. It is normal. Your body is experiencing some major changes. Just keep at it. It will get better! -
Though I have no problem with people who decide to go to Mexico for surgery, I think doing what makes you comfortable is definitely the healthier choice, for you and your family. Best of luck to you!

@@TNchick I had nearly the same issue for about 10 days post op, so hopefully you are nearing the end. The things I found that helped are introducing new things a little bit at a time and eating SLOW! I know it is hard to make 2 ounces of soup last 25 minutes, but it does help. The first time I had broccoli cheddar soup instead of my regular cream of mushroom, I only ate about half an ounce and the rest was something I was already used to. Moving to the pureed stage and eating more Protein based foods helps a lot as well. Hang in there!

On liquids- Still hungry!
SuperDave replied to alyssadietrch's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The thing that stuck with me the best in the full liquid stage was cream of wheat. It may be worth a try. Hang in there, it gets better! -
+1 on New Balance. The have a huge variety of sizes and widths, as well as something in most every price range. Plus a lot of shoe stores carry them. You can definitely find something that feels great on your feet!

Glad to hear your first sleeved feast was a success! Congrats! -
4 post op Vsg and need help!
SuperDave replied to Beanz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hard time getting fluids in at first. You literally have to sip Water nonstop. It gets easier, just keep trying. As for the gas, chewable Gas-X is my new best friend! When the gas is gone, you don't feel as restricted and you can drink more. Good luck! -
Back to normal eating but BOY I'M HUNGRY!

A great holiday and a lesson learned. Sounds like a success! -

Coffee after Sleeve - 8 days pre op too soon?
SuperDave replied to Sleeve101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A 12 ounce Starbucks PSL has 300 calories, 38 grams of sugar and 40 grams of carbohydrates. I probably would skip that. -
7 months post op and frustrated
SuperDave replied to DaddyMarie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would suggest trying to fit exercise into your daily routine. I use a step counter and set it to alert me at 10,000 steps, my daily goal. I do walk my dog for 30 minutes in the morning, which is about 3000 steps, but the rest come from extending my normal activities. Examples, park as far away as possible at work or the store. Walk up and down every aisle in the grocery store, even if you are there for 2 items. Walk around the building while you drink a Protein shake for lunch at work. Walk to the far bathroom or break room. Every little bit adds up! You have already come this far, you know you can reach your goal. You have got this! -
Help, need to know if this is normal?
SuperDave replied to deftonestiffany's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had nausea for about 4 days post-op. Always the worst in the morning when first waking up. It will pass! -
Yes. The pain is absolutely normal. Just take small sips and hang in there. It will get better soon!

Chemo screws with your body's ability to heal. He is probably just being cautious. I have no advice, but I do wish you the best of luck working through this!

+1 on the Water suggestion! I think dehydration is a bigger issue after WLS than most people realize.

Day 4 post op and I don't want to kill myself!
SuperDave replied to kasumi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear things are improving. It really went from awful to great in a matter of just a few days for me! -
Wow, you look amazing! Keep up the great work!

Do a search for neck and chin exercises. You can do them while doing other things, like watching tv, and over time they actually do help.

Breast augmentation: What size?
SuperDave replied to MichiganChic's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I enjoy all sizes. -
I'm 2.5 weeks post-op. I have found that doing something gives me more energy that anything else. If I just lay in bed, all I want to do is lay in bed. If I force myself up and take the doggy for a quick walk, I have more energy. Basically, just do it!

I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they love their insurance. Awesome! I am jealous!

Gallbladder removal and sleeve on Friday 11/28
SuperDave replied to Aranks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with the surgery! Look on the bright side, you get to have 2-in-1 instead of having them both done separately. That has to be a good thing!
