Anyone have trouble taking meds after crushing phase?
SuperDave replied to brians34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not quite there yet, but my nutritionist recommends splitting pills for a while even after the crushing phase. It makes them easier to swallow and helps them dissolve quicker in your new pouch. -
Two words. chicken wings. Many pizza places have them as well. Or as SeahawksFan suggested, go thin crust and take it slow. I doubt anyone will notice! If they do, just say you are watching what you eat. It is that simple!

Not feeling sure about going through with WLS...
SuperDave replied to nolongerhere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think people are suggesting that you go somewhere else. You asked for opinions from people who have been through the process, and that is what you got. Some people have different experiences and outlooks on things than others. You can't expect everyone to think the way that you do or to have had the same problems that you have had. That is life. Good luck with your appointment! -

If you are not ready to commit to the new lifestyle, then you are not ready to commit to the new lifestyle. It is that simple. There is nothing wrong with that. It is your choice. There is no use having surgery if you don't think you will stick with the rest of the program. You could possibly do more damage than good. Good luck with whichever option you decide! -
Post op diet struggles
SuperDave replied to lily0327's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should follow the instructions your surgeon and/or nutritionist gave you. Period. Why would you go through surgery and then do anything else? -
Do you notice how much others eat?
SuperDave replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I definitely notice, but more than how much, I notice how fast people eat. Watching people polish off a huge dinner before I can get in my 2 ounces, (and knowing I used to regularly do the same thing) amazes me! -
Post op diet... Low carb
SuperDave replied to Michelle Anne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here. High Protein low carb from the beginning. I'm satisfied with what I eat now, so no need to add in something that is not going to help. -
Awesome! Keep up the great work!

Stalled and starting to worry
SuperDave replied to Essence46's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There is really nothing to worry about, especially if you are still losing inches. You are losing fat and gaining muscle. Just do what you are supposed to do and it will happen! -
Congrats brother! I knew this would work out for you! It's going to happen fast!

Chewable Gas-X was my constant companion for a couple weeks post-op. It helps a lot! -
Looking good! Glad to hear everything is going well. Keep it up!

What's the deal with CAFFEINE ?!
SuperDave replied to bajagal101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had read that stuff about caffeine a while ago, long before surgery was even on the radar. However, I just figured I would follow the doctors advice so I could blame it on him if it didn't work! -
Excellent. Keep up the positive attitude!

They just used tape on me. Worked great!

It is also a diuretic. It can lead to dehydration. -
Caffeine withdrawal!
SuperDave replied to lilypat407's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! I suppose it is too late for this advice now, but I weaned myself off of caffeine for a couple months prior to surgery to avoid this. Next time you'll know! -
Water vs. Herbal Tea
SuperDave replied to IcanMakeit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know why, those are just the rules I was given. I was also told no fruit juice or sports drinks, and Protein shakes don't count as liquid. Different doctors, different rules! -
Just feelin down! Please make me smile!
SuperDave replied to realrawuncutsleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HEY! SMILE! Sorry I don't have a story. I just figured I would try to start with something positive! -
Water vs. Herbal Tea
SuperDave replied to IcanMakeit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The rules from my nutritionist are that any non carbonated, non caffeinated, non alcoholic and non caloric beverage counts toward your total. That basically leaves decaffeinated coffee and tea, herbal tea, Crystal Light (or equivalent), and Water. -
This is ultimately a question for your nutritionist. However, looking at the nutrition info, it doesn't look too good. Per serving, 15 grams of Protein, 16 grams of sugar and 21 grams of carbs. My nutritionist recommends over 20 grams of protein and less than 10 carbs. I mostly use Premier Protein, which has 30 grams of protein and 5 carbs per serving. But like I said, ask your nutritionist.

It'a like somebody flipped a switch
SuperDave replied to fezik23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on reaching that point. It has to be a great feeling! I really think that how long the feeling lasts is up to you. As long as you eat like you should and don't give in to cravings and stretch out your sleeve, it should last a long time. As for the slow weight loss, don't lose hope and don't give up! Everyone goes through the slow phases. Best of luck and keep it up! -
