I found that I had to change the kind of protein shake for the gas to settle down. I got the most gas from the Body Fortress protein from Walmart. I got the least gas from Unjury. Lactade tablets actually helped a bit too. Perhaps also going over to the "mens room" on the main board and see if other guys had the same issue and what they did. Good luck on your journey. Amanda -

Pain is not good. Is it discomfort or pain? You should be able to drink fluids easily. Soft food and/or well chewed food are supposed to stay in your pouch for a while, that's good. It is important to take small bits and chew well. If you are worried call your Dr.

You know what I was just thinking? You never really see a shamrock growing all by itself. You see them in groups. Every one of them shining up to the sun. Snuggled next to its neighbor, like its giving it support. I like being a shamrock with all of you other shamrocks.

(response to last comment) We have surgery on our stomach not our brain. So if you haven't worked out the 'why' of self destructive eating the weight will come back. I've found my band a reminder of sorts. Im still working on my 'whys' which is why my weight loss has slowed (hell it's stopped most of the time). I wish it was as easy as-put the band on and stop eating bad food- but it's not. Tracy-Just keep working the band and staying on top of what you eat. You know what it feels like to have lost, it will happen again. This time you will know how easy it can all go down the tubes and be mindful of your choices. Good work!! Amanda

Hi Jamie I know I do better when I keep track of what Im eating. Whether it is just logging intake or actually counting nutrition facts (carbs/calories).

funny you should say this today. My trainer just told me he wants to start using one with me. The guys at the firehouse use them all the time and say it is a good work out if you have good balance. Whatever that means.

Im pretty ample on top so I wear a sports bra for the whole tri. On the bottom I wear tri shorts which have a little bit of padding(makes the bike more comfortable). I also put on a tech T for the bike and run. For my open water swim the end of May (water temp 54) I will be wearing a wetsuit for the swim. Jachut- if you want to get started in the sport try doing it with a team and relay it. Most races have relay divisions. Some have 2, most have 3 person teams. That is how I started and was hooked. The swimming seems to be the hang-up with most folks so if you can handle that you're golden.

I know it is hard for you when your husband is out of town. Thanks It's good that he is talking to you about how he feels. Were you always this size? Like when you met him? Going through the stomach problems probably doesn't help him see the healthy side of banding either. Im sure you've already told him eating well and eating too much are very different things. Let him know you are going nowhere. Hang in there.
