    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Rhonda you have to change your signature line. "My goal is to be half the woman I am now" If that is true you want to be 111.5 lbs! It should read "My goal is to be half the woman I was a year ago. Im more then half way there!!"

    I must be crazy!

The running is your cardio for the day so skip the elliptical or treadmill. Do the weight training/core work on the same days as running. Nonrunning days do other gentle (no intervals) cardio (elliptical, treadmill) and core/ab work. You can never do too much work on your core. When working on your arms don't forget your shoulders, and back. Got to keep things even and strong. PS you're gunna sleep good tonight! Don't forget to stretch in the morning cause you'll be stiff.

What are your regular exercises? I say do'em. I'd do them first then get the cardio in. Keep on, keeping on!!!

    Excited, Scared and Confused

Congratulations on your date and your decision to take control of your body/life. You will get out of it what you put into it. It's that simple. The folks that are whining about not losing are the ones not following the food guidelines and not exercising. Just stick to your game plan and you will do fine. Educate yourself on the band and you will worry much less. Good Luck!!! Amanda
  8. Fruit smoothies with Protein powder added. Summertime fruit is so good. Watermelon smoothies are great with low calories. Just wizz up a little fruit, ice and Protein Powder. I also love grilled chicken anything. My husband grills up a bunch on the weekend and it last me all week. I love mixing it with fresh basil and cucumbers and a squeeze of lemon and having it cold. No mayo for me. Hope that helps. I will try to think of some more.

Jonathan you can do this! Look at this goal as a writing deadline. Set up a outline/course of action and get it done. Damn the darn duck!! And anything with white truffles. It's appetizer size portions for you. Strap that BodyBugg a little tighter, buckle down and get the work done!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!

    Question

Deanna, for me yes it is worth it. I don't have the greatest restriction(I could eat large portions. I don't) Hunger wise it has been great. My last fill really took care of the hunger between meals. I can go 4-6 hour without needing to eat. Sometimes I make myself sit and have a meal so I won't be hit with cravings and/or over eat. Head hunger is another matter. Sometimes when I'm bored I think I'm hungry. But I'm getting a handle on that too. Good luck!

Texgirl- sometimes it is not the shoes but the socks. Try a different pair made for running or cross-training. One that wicks moisture away, is cushioning and does not slip. Also I think you would be glad not having a problem with foods. Some folks have to stop having stuff they love cause it won't go down. Remember the band is a tool and just having it makes you think twice about putting more Pasta, bread or rice in and that is good. So it might not be working just the way you want it to but it is still working. Good luck.

Rhonda I can feel the frustration in your post. I'd go back to the basics: Are you logging your foods? That is the first place I would look. Recheck the calorie values of what you are eating. Portion your meals by weight or measure. Sometimes we eyeball stuff and its not quite correct. Perhaps you will need to reduce your calories if the other stuff does not pan out. How are you doing with exercise? If you are getting some in everyday maybe you need to shake it up a bit with a new routine. Interval training is great. Go for a "wog". Thats walking and jogging. Walk for 1min then jog for a min. Walk for 1min jog for 2min. walk 1.5min jog 3min. walk 1min jog 2min. It gets the heart rate up and really burns calories. My trainer says that doing interval training for 20 min is equal to about twice that just walking. Also I think our bodies prefer to lose at a steady rate and if you are losing alot after each fill maybe your body needs to settle a bit and gains some back. How is your over all loss? Does it average out to 1-2lbs a week? Keep your chin up. You are doing the right thing trying to tweak your program to get the maximum. Keep up the good work!!

    I'm hear & I'm ready to listen!!

Well how long have you been banded? What/how much/ how often are you eating? Are you getting exercise? Daily? Give us a little hint of what you are/aren't doing. Plateaus do end. With a little work on your part.

Penny I think the same thing happens to me. When I don't chew well/bite too big I definitely feel something "stuck". It happened with fried rice the one and only time I have tried it since banding. Kind of like a golf ball not going up or down. I just relax, stand up and stretch. I don't try to wash it down for fear of retching. I have had a few times with Water kind of backing up is what I call it. Usually happens with cold water and when I take a big swallow. Kind of like the water has met a burp and there isn't room for both. When it happens try to stay calm and relaxed. I don't see this as a problem, more of a reminder to take small bites, chew well and not gulp cold water. But I will be letting my Dr know it is happening next week when I go in for my 3rd fill. **A side note** some folks get food stuck and don't/can't puke it up. I've heard of drinking a bit of pineapple or papaya juice or taking a papaya tablet to help dissolve the food. Just something to keep in the back of your mind if needed.

Ive started my training for the Triathlon. Feels good to have a focus. Weight loss stalled. Haven't lost for the last week. I think it is because it has been hot here and I have been reaching for the juice. To many calories. I've been tired lately too. Perhaps because of the increased exercise. I think I will be hitting the pillow early tonight. TTFN

Jonathan- its just that I thought I was finally getting my sh*t together and a simple thing like measurements can set me off. Whatever! I did a run through of the Tri today, not in the correct order and not rushing from one to the other. I was quite surprised that I did it all, and in a respectful time. Im a bit worn out and will sleep GOOD tonight, but I'm terribly happy too. Shopping & sales two of my favorite words. Jello shots- hhmmm that sounds good too.(there's Protein in jello, right?)

    Training for a triathlon...

Ok so I did a run through to get more accurate times. 2ml Run(more of a wog on the treadmill) 36mins 6mil bike 40min 400m swim 15min Of course I didn't do them in the correct order and I wasn't rushing from one to the other. But Im feeling good that I can at least not make a fool of myself.
