The back can be a really hard thing to loosen up. I use a TENs unit on my lower back to help improve the blood circulation and pain before or after a workout.

I did my first triathlon this morning. I finished and wasn't even dead last. The Band has really made this dream come true for me.

Did I miss something? What kids?

Hi folks I just have to share this with someone. My hands are still shaking. About 20 minutes ago I was bopping around on the computer and my dog started to bark and came running into the room, then went back out to the kitchen, still barking. I followed her because this is not regular behavior and she seemed to be wanting me to follow. Well I found my husband bent over the kitchen sink CHOKING!! Since he couldn't get air in he couldn't yell for help. I did a few back blows. That didn't seem to do anything. He was heaving. I wrapped my arms around him and did the Heimlich. Man is that hard to do on a person that is straining their abdominals. Plus he is 6'1" and 180lbs. I told him to relax so I could do the Heimlich. He did. It worked. The chunk of food moved enough for him to get some air and cough. I did another back blow for good measure and then he cleared his own airway with his finger. All is good now. Stubborn guy that he is he will not go the ER. He's relaxing, sipping Water and coughing a bit. He has some big hand prints on his back that I think might be there for a while. I never want to have to do that again.

Kathy and Rhonda those are huge victories. Jonathan welcome back to bandlandia. Sorry about the stone. Julie I think you are smart to be wary of another fill. I seem tighter in the AM too. Are you logging your foods or just keeping a rough count? When you're exercising are you doing the same old stuff. Maybe you need to shake it up a bit. :confused2:

Ceradad- That was a GREAT effort!! I don't think I would have been able to play 2 softball games yesterday after the Tri and never with your results. Before the swim start I did some serious panic counseling with quite a few of my fellow first timers. Perhaps because I have done the swim leg before(relay back in 05) or because swimming is my strongest leg I was very calm and focused before and during the swim. I did make the mistake of seating myself too far back in the start order. I underestimated my ability. I got stuck behind slower swimmers and actually just cruised. Lesson learned. I checked out my time this morning. Drum roll................ 1:11.52 !!! I surprised myself.

I'm back. I finished and I wasn't even dead last!! It was great. I got a medal!!! Now I'm hooked. I need a new goal. Unfortunately there isn't another Tri (at this length) in my area again until next April. Im thinking about a 5k fun run. Seems there is one of those every weekend somewhere. Thanks for all the encouragement. I couldn't have gotten where I am without my Shrinking Shamrocks!! Christine- Sure when you're ready to start training let me know. I think most folks don't do this because they are afraid of the swim leg. If you are a good swimmer you will be ahead of the game, if not it is easy enough to learn. I really good book to read is Slow Fat Triathlete, By Jayne Williams.

Thanks I think I'm doing pretty good. For me the key is exercise. Post Op is different for everyone. I didn't bounce back for about 3 days then I had to deal with a lot of mind games and second guessing. That is why I tell everyone to research and have all your questions answered before. I had a bit of Post Op depression. Don't know if it was from the anesthesia or what. Also you can't be lifting over 10lbs for a couple of weeks. I was back to normal in about 10 days. How well did you recover from child birth? Go read some of the blogs here. That might give you some hints.

I did it and I wasn't dead last.

Hi Shamrocks I can't believe my Triathlon is tomorrow morning. I am so psyched!! My Chinese horoscope for tomorrow is: Daily Overview for August 2, 2008 Ah, what a perfect day! The day of the Dog combined with the impact of the elements makes this day the best day of the year for you. Take advantage of this in as many ways as you can, keeping in mind that focusing on your strengths will indeed create optimal results. Do not cower from new challenges today, as others will notice your energy. That is so cool.

I picked up my race packet and got my body markings. I felt a little weird walking in CVS to pick up a few things. I have the # on my R arm and L calf(calf has age too) in big black print. When the guy was giving me the timing chip he started to explain how to use it and I just said "yep I've done it before". He seemed a little surprised. Then I moved on to the next table for body marking and when they noticed the smiley face tattoo on my L ankle I said "yep it gives the guy swimming behind me something to look at". That got a good laugh. I've been practicing my transitions. I think I'm pretty smooth. Just the lace tying on my shoes. Next time I am getting the lace locks. Good luck Ceradad. Meet you back here after the race to swap war stories. PS I looked up my horoscope for tomorrow: Daily Overview for August 2, 2008 Ah, what a perfect day! Nicolle If you search in the general threads about this topic, to tell or not to tell there is alot of chatter. Everyone has their own reason for their decision. Me I told my support people. Close friends and family members that I know would be supportive. I didn't tell folks that I knew or feared would have a negative reaction. After the fact and 5 months out I have told a few more folks, mostly ones that might benefit from the band themselves or know someone that would. Don't treat this as a shameful experience. If you got laser eye surgery to help you see better would you be embarrassed? Really the same thing with this. I don't think you can 'over think' this. Just don't obsess on any one point. Get the information you need to make an informed decision and to put your mind at ease. Know what you are getting into and have a good support system in place before the surgery. Good luck on your journey. Ask all the questions you need.

Ahh Geeze, feel better.

A calm has settled over me. I got to the pool this morning to finally swim when it was set to 50m. I thought I was going to freak out but I didn't. I did an easy swim (breast stroke 400m) and felt confident. Im only going to do an easy bike tomorrow around the park that the event will be located. I've been getting up earlier then normal so on Sat my body will not be in slumber shock. I figure I need to get up at 5am Sat to eat and have time to digest and get to the event. Pre race meeting is 7:15am.

Special K Its a learning curve. You're doing better every day. Waiting for that third digit to change is so hard. Just promise that when it does you will step off the scale before you start your happy dance. We can't have you smacking your head on the wall when you loose your balance. Don't ask me how I know this. I think I still have a dent. Scrappy- we should be celebrating your 100 soon. ??

Teri thanks for the help.

Im having problems with my ticker also. I thought it was only me. I can't even add a new one to my signature. I posted a new thread on the main board and emailed tickerfactory.com. It's wait and see time.
-
So we know you're back but you seem too quiet. Is everything OK?
-
sugarbean I noticed at the bottom of your signature is a link to Phentermine forums. Are you taking this med? If so it seems a little strange to be on a drug and banded. You don't know if the band is working or the drug.
