  1. All my planning for the cruise was for not. I actually gained 7 pounds. Good news is that I have also lost it. (I think a lot of the pounds were water weight from traveling) So Im back to pre vacation weight. I also returned with a cold(explains the weight loss). So working with the trainer is out until Friday. I think I will go have some soup.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

    Hi all Well all my plans for eating and exercising on the cruise to Bermuda went overboard! I did only use the stairs, no elevators. I tried to pick healthy at each meal. The problem was the amount of courses. I never have appetizer, Soup, main and dessert at all my meals, yet on the ship that is what was offered and it all looked sooo good. I just had to "try" each one. The result was a 7 pound gain!!! Good news is that as of this morning I've lost it all. So I think some was Water weight from traveling. I keep kicking myself because if I had stayed on plan I would be 7 pounds down from pre trip and would have hit my Labor Day weight loss challenge goal. I did have one interesting thing happen. I had a chocolate malted(yes but it was soooooo good!!!!!) and after I felt really nauseous. I think my system can't handle the fat calorie load anymore.

    Any Long Islanders?

    It's all ways good to ask questions. It's when you don't know what is going on that you start to worry. Go have a look at the big boards. There are threads on pre op, post op, exercise, food & diets. It is a great place to start. Also read some of the journals/bolgs. Some are personal, some are funny, most are very informative. Information is your best tool with the band and weight loss in general. When you have more ??s come on back and ask. Good luck on your journey!! Amanda

    Training for a triathlon...

    Hi Im back. Bermuda was beautiful. I wish I could say we had good weather. But... Chris I'm sorry to hear of your spill. It sucks to think you might not be doing the Tri but it is so much more important to heal well. The question of the Tri in Oct is a moot point now I have a wedding to attend on that day. Good luck LABPUPS on your upcoming surgery.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

    I really pays to go to a store for runners and have one of their sales people fit you for a good pair. Usually the sales people are runners and have a lot of knowledge about different brands. Don't be afraid of going in just because you don't have "a runners body". They have seen all sizes. It is their job to fit you with the best shoe. Plus most stores are independently owned. Service is better then chains. They know if they don't do right by you, you will not come back. Also get some goggles and get swimming. Then get on a bike and do a Tri!!!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

    I have had intermittent knee problems most of my life. So I thought it would be my knees that would give me the most trouble training for the Tri. Nope, it was my back. I can't believe how tight it is when I get up in the morning. I spend 15 minutes just warming up and stretching. Then 5min in a hot shower. Fingers & toes crossed the knees are staying strong. I think it is because of the cross training- swimming to biking. Not a lot of weight baring.

    Hi I think you are doing GREAT!! Yep you can eat more soup then beans. But look at the calories, probably about the same or less for the soup. It's wonderful that you have a plan for your downtime. A lot of folks find themselves snacking when bored. How are you doing with exercise? I personally think that is the key to puzzle of weight loss. Just get moving. I have Navy in my family too. Mom, brother and an Uncle. Give that husband of yours a great big hug for keeping us safe and free!! Have that husband of yours give you a super big hug for facing life's challenges head on. Good luck with your journey. Amanda

    Yep it will pass. Your body, inside and out, is healing so give it time. Look at your scars. When they are all healed is when you will be feeling your old self again. Get some sleep. Dream about all the great stuff you will be doing in your new body. Hugs!!
  15. I leave Saturday for my cruise to Bermuda.(this is the trip my wonder DH surprised me with for all my hard work with the band) I'm packed and ready. I absolutely LOVE cruises. Bonus it departs from a port only 40 minutes away, so no airport nightmares. I've packed work out clothes, running shoes, couch 2 5k podcasts and signed up for two rather active land excursions. A mountain biking tour of the island and a kayak tour of the sea coast. So I think I will be staying on track with exercise. I am worried about all the wonderful food. I will have to be at the top of my game when it comes to menu choice and not being tempted by the between meals snacking. Then there's the booze. I have a 1:2 plan, for every cocktail I drink I will have to drink 2 glasses of water. I think pre-planning will be the key to not gaining on vacation. Dare I dream to perhaps lose?

    I leave Saturday for my cruise to Bermuda.(this is the trip my wonder DH surprised me with for all my hard work with the band) I'm packed and ready. I absolutely LOVE cruises. Bonus it departs from a port only 40 minutes away, so no airport nightmares. I've packed work out clothes, running shoes, couch 2 5k podcasts and signed up for two rather active land excursions. A mountain biking tour of the island and a kayak tour of the sea coast. So I think I will be staying on track with exercise. I am worried about all the wonderful food.     Lyn way to go on week 3!! I find it helps to put heel pads in my shoes before a run. It gives just the right amount of lift to put my foot at good angle.

    Fill #11 may be too tight

    Relax. for me the band seems tighter when I'm stressed. My nutritionist/trainer suggested I drink some aloe vera juice. It is a natural anti-inflammatory. I have yet to because I haven't been so tight I couldn't get something down. Feel better.

    Training for a triathlon...

    I found another sprint Tri in my area Oct 4th. I really want to do this. Only problem is my trainer said that doing a Tri is not the best way to lose weight. He thinks I should concentrate on getting some more weight off and train over the winter for a spring Tri. There is a lot of science to back him up. Now the question is do I want to do the Tri more then I want to get to goal? Any thoughts?

    Well.... you're not supposed to be able to purchase one without a prescription but I have heard of them being available on Ebay. If you have Dr approved pain you should be able to get a script. Even from a Chiropractor. I got mine when I sprained my ankle (grade 2, ouch!) and was doing therapy at home too.
