    nothing really

Im doing the Thanksgiving cooking/baking too. Cookies are my downfall. One becomes two then I start thinking "well maybe I could just have cookies for dinner. Same calories. But that's what got me here in the first place. Onederland is meant to be, just not today or tomorrow. It will happen. Soon. Really! Gobble gobble.

    Moderated comment??

Actually it happened on a comment I made. I didn't see anything wrong and it is all stuff I have written before. I wish someone would answer my question. There isn't any other place to ask it.
  5. Hi LynnyLou

I noticed your post over on the convention thread and though you might be interested in Lap-Band support groups which concentrate on issues common to that age group.

    I have sooooo many questions?

Hi PrettyLady Yep you need some more information. I don't even think you have enough to make an informed decision on the LapBand over the ByPass (or any WLS). Im not coming down on you. I just want you to have the correct information on all your surgical choices. Over at Obesity Help .com (Weight Loss Surgery ) they have good information all the surgical options. For information on the Bands go over to: Official Site: the LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding System for weight loss surgery or Home - REALIZEBand.com These are the 2 makers of the bands. You can find technical information there on how the bands work and what they are made of. Generally the band are made of solid silicone(apposed to the gel in breast implants), are hollow(like an inner tube) and when you need more restriction they are filled with saline. Don't get me wrong I think the Band is great. I can't think of living without it now. I just think you need to be well informed before you have any surgery. Also anyone who has had any of these surgeries will tell you it's not the surgery that "does the work" it is you. You have to wrap your mind around a lifestyle change. Food, exercise and accepting yourself in all phases of your life. Poke around on the LBT forums. Most any question you have has already been asked and answered a few times. Good luck on your journey Amanda

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I saw the Dr on Friday and he's happy with my progress. So much so that he doesn't want to see me again for 3 months. OK. I was a little ticked cause then he said: "you're strong, healthy and carry your weight well. I'm happy with the weight you've already lost, anything more will be a bonus." WTF That is just not right. In the past when I've tried to talk to him about a goal weight he has always said that's a discussion for another day down the road. Well when I told him my goal weight Friday he said I had to be realistic and not set myself up for disappointment. Man I'm I going to show him

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I went into the city last night for a play. It's been a long time since I've been comfortable in those theater seats. I am not sure who they had in mind when those seats were built into the theaters but even my slim (but tall) husband fines himself a bit wedged in. Anyways for the first time in a long time I didn't think I was encroaching on the folks next to me. Man was it brisk last night in NYC. I REALLY was cold walking around. I have a bit less insulation these days.

11-20-08 Blog - Day 6 after my surgery

Hi Nancy It's good to see that you are improving everyday. I agree it's a life change, you're smart to have figured it out. Good luck on your journey, Amanda PS I don't "have the Lord" and am doing quiet find thanks. I do know it is important to have a strong support system, wherever you find it.

The help I need, to succeed

Getting a degree is wonderful! Right now that is THE most important thing in your life. Focus and get it done. Im a little troubled with the "pig out" on Thanksgiving. Getting the band is just a bit of plastic on your stomach. The real work will be on your mind. If you're truly ready for the band you will know that "pigging out" is not the correct choice for the body you really want. Go ahead and enjoy yourself but be mindful of your choices. Will you truly have more fun by having more on your plate? A good support system is very important and so often overlooked. You are correct to surround yourself with supportive people. Good luck on your journey. Amanda

    Wow- one year

So its been a year since I found this site and essentially started my journey. I started at 284lbs. Im 210lbs today. I would love to have lost 100 lbs by my bandiversary March 4. Should be doable. My eating habits have changed drastically, and yet I really don't feel deprived. I just don't need to eat what/the way I used to anymore. I'm sleeping better then I have in years. I think it is a combination of less weight and more activity. A motivated day makes for blissful sleep. I love being able to shop in the 'regular' sections. I think it is important to have a few good outfits that fit well. Seeing my body change toward what I dream is very exciting. I never had an operation or was hospitalized before being banded. Now I'm seriously thinking about plastic surgery. I'll be trading a few scars for the body of my dreams. Doable.

    New to the surgery

Hi Becky Welcome to Bandlandia. By now you've probably read a ton (I hope) of information on the band and what is expected of you. It's time to live the band. Settle in and start listening to your body. Learn what it is to be hungry. And what being satisfied feels like. Recenter your life away from food. Meet your friends to do something active, not for lunch. Get out and move your body. It will be easier each day. Create for yourself a support system that will truly support you. Get an exercise buddy. Attend your Dr's support meeting if you can. You've taken a big first step, having this surgery to wrap the band on your stomach. Weight loss is so much more then tummys. Now start working on wrapping your head around this change. Good luck on your journey!! Amanda

    jiggle...slap

I knew losing weight would mean my skin would become loose. I was not prepared for the resulting sounds that came with it. I am disgusted by what I hear when I'm working out. The skin of my stomach is slapping against itself. Today my trainer asked if the noise he was hearing was from my knee. Was it popping? I said yes, finished the session and almost ran out of the gym. I was so embarrassed. I want to cry, but I know exercise is the only was to get rid of the weight.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Jonathan you are not the only person with this problem apparently. I found this answer over on OH when a banded American traveling on business asked about 'safe foods' in Paris. "If you can communicate in French, it's a lot simpler, but if you have facilities to make your own food, it's not difficult. Simply choose the same things you would eat at home. If you are eating out a lot, eat the Protein stuff first, veggies second, carbs last. One thing you will find out about Paris is that if you buy food at the local supermarket (I remember Felix Potin!), you can find absolutely wonderful produce and dairy. You can buy a slice of lean ham at the charcuterie (place to buy pre-cooked things, and pork products). You can find part-skim milk cheeses at the cremerie. You can buy a single egg there, for that matter. I know it's hard but try to stay away from the patisseries (pastry shops) and boulangeries (bakers). If you eat the simply prepared steak (the French love good minute steak) and a fresh vegetable, you will do very well. French people in France do NOT eat rich food, heavy sauces, and sweet Desserts every day. Many people follow a very simple "regime," and simply do not snack the way Americans do. Onion Soup minus the crouton with all the cheese on it will be low in calories. Eat clear Soups and bouillion. Eat grilled fish and chicken. And ENJOY!!! I loved living in Paris, and I hope you will, too. Margie B" So sounds like you're going to be ok. PS Isopure makes a powder you could ship there.

    Any Long Islanders?

There is a group that meets out in Northport. They sometimes post the meetings here. A group of us got together last week also. I would really love to start a regular meeting that is not tied to one Dr or costs $$. Anyone else up for this?
