LMAO Pat :laugh For me, roll out of bed, toilet (it all helps lol) and on scales PJ's no shoes. I weigh myslef every day and record weekly. Measure monthly.
-
OMG I agree. I'm only a B cup now...can you be a negative cup size after you lose nearly 80 pounds

I am changing careers in a huge way and still an undergraduate...one year to go after Christmas *phew* (why didn't I pick a 3 year degree???) Anyway, I will admit that I saw this as my chance to lose weight prior to meeting with employers. I don't know if I don't trust them to see past my weight, or I will present more confidently, but I know the weight had to go! Good luck on the thesis...I considered honors but with two young children my husband started frothing at the mouth when I mentioned it lmao

Oh OK....now I see why we are not on the same page lol...in Australia there are several bands used, and the Doctors obviously have a choice. Glad we sorted that out lol
-
Oh thank goodness, I'm not the only one. I'm trying to ignore the slight GAIN when I weighed myself today. I have 3.5ml in a 10ml band. I know I know that this is only a tool and without restriction it doesn't work. In the meantime I feel like I'm on a diet which was the whirly gig I want to get off...and half my loss was the liquid diet PRE surgery. It's very frustrating and you are not alone...

Yes, the hospital buys the band...the one the Doctor wants. They may all cost the same, but the supplier would want Doctors to buy their bands. After all we are discussing an item that costs a considerable amount of money...mine was $4000 AUD. I believe my Doctor has the integrity to use the band that he believes is the best, both for him and his patients. I also believe he would have spoken to a representative from each company who would have explained the benefits of their band. As you would well know, medicine is big business. I don't believe the suppliers are making these bands simply for our health lol Just my opinion

Hi I think it varies from surgeon to surgeon. I know mine uses the same band on everyone...that is his preferred band for many reasons that he is happy to explain why. From what I've read some surgeons think different bands suit different people...size etc. And, I don't know about America, but I think we'd be naive to think that drug company "sales tactics" aren't a factor somewhere in the process. Just ask your surgeon, that's what I did. I think he liked explaining it...he did drawings and everything

My first very mini goal is to get under 200lbs - that should be soon I hope. 2nd mini goal is to get under 90 kilos which is around 196 lbs. That one will make me very happy. My first big NSV is to finally have my regular clothes too big. I have lost 10 kilos or over 20 lbs and my clothes still fit Why didn't anyone tell me they were sooo tight...

eating alot, can't wait for 1st fill
theresa2mum replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill a week ago. It was exciting...I feel like a REAL bandster now lol. But I don't feel any different. I have another appointment for 2 weeks time. I think I'll be needing the second (or more) fill. Hang in there -
I'm not sure about the time differences...so apologies if this is a 'belated' happy birthday. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm917YYAU' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/13/13_10_1.gif' alt='Birthday Balloons' border=0></a>

Hi I'm a third year undergraduate student. I only told a few close friends at uni...but sitting at lunch with a larger group trying to shrug of mushies was interesting lol "Oh it's a curry sauce....oh yes I always eat it like this...so yummy.....rice? Oh no - don't like rice" I had my toes crossed, so I wasn't really lying lol Onto solids this week....sooooo much easier! Of course my op was smack bam in the middle of the semester...still trying to catch up!
-
Are you rarely hungry after being banded?
theresa2mum replied to flexible's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've only been banded 4 weeks and just starting solids...but I will borrow a well used quote that's used here regularly..."they band your stomach, not your head"... So yes, I still have to fight off impure thoughts about the choccie biscuits in the fridge. But today I had one and not the whole packet Little steps... I can say that I have beaten my caffeine addition...that's a biggy. I'm sure some experienced banders will be able to give you more info. Good Luck! -
Oh not long to go then...good luck! This is the best thing I have ever done...and I've only realised lately....it's been a long time since I've done something for ME. Getting healthy, what a wonderful gift to give yourself.
-
Oh wow, you really can see a big difference. Well done!!!
-
I did it for 2 weeks...the first 3 days are the hardest because your body is going through withdrawal (coffee etc). I didn't break once as I've heard if your liver is too big they either cancel the op, or open you up. Both scared me enough to stick to it. I also lost 10 pounds which made it worthwhile
-
Well it is 5 weeks since I started the pre-op diet (2 weeks) and 3 weeks since surgery. Today I've lost 22 pounds (10 kilos) and I thought OMG what would I weigh now if I hadn't done this fantastic thing for ME. I remember the feelings of doubt well. But soooo many people can't be wrong.
-
A big Happy Birthday Maria! Have a great day!!
-
I can't answer your questions sorry...but I will say, of the last 5 weeks, the 2 week pre op liquid diet was THE worst part. Hang in there, it's worth it. Every time I felt like caving I imagined my surgeon saying sorry I can't do the band until you do it. That fixed me every time lol.
-
Oh and meant to say, Love your new avatar Maria...very nice!
-
OMG...I nearly died when I saw this thread lol. *blushing* Thank you sooooo much! You guys are the greatest. Yes, I had a wonderful day...even on mushies lol. Mwah Kisses, Theresa.

Hi, This thread may help. Good luck for December http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7959&highlight=abbreviations -
Hi Congrats on the date! I'm on mushies atm and went out with some friends the other night...first time out since banded...well they must have picked the only place in town that doesn't have soup on the menu. That's the downside of not telling everyone. Hint: check out where you're going first lol.
-
Oh Wow! Congrats to you...all the hard work is paying off *insert clapping*
-
Hi Kel Can they check for leaks without actually removing the existing fill? Congrats on the fab loss to date though!
