Eating and intense workouts
Veronica Page replied to AgentShepard's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well all I can say is that I'll follow my trainer and nut cause I even see a lot of people in the gym drinking Protein WHILE they are working out and they have lean muscles and very letting body fat they must be doing something wrong when I was doing things oh so wrong for a long time! -
from what my nut says we "patients" should stay off those types of snacks for sometime. You have to speak to them about that. I feel like there are so many different options for snacks then that. Slices of deli meat, cheese, you are far enough out to have cut veggies and fruit and peanut butter. Protein bars the list goes on and on. I would not beat yourself up for the slips. You are craving salt and that is normal where some people probably were craving sweets. You should try maybe pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds, pistachios, almonds, and even most nuts but don't go nuts on them. Eat some yogurt with fruit. The point is try to stay away from the standard "junk food". Its hard I know but you can do it. Don't want to ruin progress now when you are doing so GREAT! I wish you luck!

first week don't expect a 20lbs drop. You will be tired and not hungry and feeling a lil bit of pain. You will feel like you want to get up and get motivated but this is major surgery and you will not be able to run a marathon or just on the treadmill. I recommend listening not only to your doctor and take their advice but listen to your body and try to understand that it is going to go through quite some change. Walk as much as possible, sip your water and get in as much protein as you can. You will not meet the standards of a ton of water or protein but do what you can. I wish you luck and hope your journey is a great one!

Eating and intense workouts
Veronica Page replied to AgentShepard's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My nut and my trainer have told me to have a snack an hr before and a meal an hr after. So I eat and egg or some deli meat or if I can stomach it a shake. Then after I eat a whole meal, normally fish or vegan burgers since I can't hold most meats down. It will help with that shaky light headed low sugar level feeling. We are eating so little and burning so much that it happens. Good luck. I was there myself last week! -
My 600 pound life
Veronica Page replied to holliwood1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my cousin is a patient of Dr. Now. They have to go to classes and some other nut instruction classes. You just don't see it cause you can only fit so much in an hr or rather 44 min show. You want to see the results not just that stuff. My cousin was 450 lbs and after surgery is currently 195 lbs. Lets just admit that if you are of such a high weight you have some serious food addiction and the Dr. can only do so much. he is not lenient on the surgery requirements but the post op you don't want to walk or watch your food intake then that is on you. He gives you the tools along with the nut you have to work it. I love that show but sometimes it makes me crazy. -
So I have heard contradictory stories.....why are we not suppose to drink from a straw?
Veronica Page replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
post op my first drinks came with a straw and I'm currently drinking through one as I type. I'm not having any problem with taking in any air. Good luck! -
I was told 6 months for hard alcohol but could maybe handle a really small glass of wine here and there. Haven't tried anything yet though.

Curious..... Why sleeve over bypass?
Veronica Page replied to kmb71179's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When I talked to my doc, nut and pcp they said it was the best option for me and seem to be the safest route lately when it comes to certain medical conditions. Good luck with your choice. I wanted RNY but was recommended for sleeve since I was already anemic and have other medical issue that would have been interrupted by the lack of Vitamins and nutrients if I did not properly handle my Vitamin intake. -
I'm a nibbler too which is why I have premade bento boxes ready for me when I cook for them. It is hard with kids not being an eating schedule. All I guess we can do is have our own lil snacks handy for those times. I have a slice of cheese or a roll of deli meat or a hard boiled egg no whites cut up! Good luck and I love when people notice that I have lost weight even if it just my family.

2 month since surgery see a lil difference -
OUCH is all I can say today. It is really weird how we truly do not use every part of our body daily. I have been going to the gym-3-4 times a week mostly doing aerobic to get my heart rate up and try to burn some fat. So last night I thought I have been lightly going the weights and my trainer really hit me hard with those workouts last night. I'm a hurting today, it is a good pain but geez crazy to think that I have not used those muscles on that level in I don't know how long. I was down two lbs but this morning I woke up again up one so bleh forget it. I'm just going to throw that scale out the window and weigh in once a month. It is driving me nuts!

Well you def should stay away from the fried food that too is my weakness. It just taste so good. So I had to do some real soul searching when I got this weight loss so I broke up with food and decided that I wanted a better life. I join a food addiction group cause lets face it I did not gain my weight not enjoy the yummy stuff and also took a cooking class, I can cook but I needed to learn how to make low carb high Protein foods. So funny thing is I can't eat hardly any meat but I manage to get in what I can and someday I will be able to and will have those tools to do so. Be accountable again for your food. Log EVERYTHING, and when I say that I really mean it. EVERYTHING even that chip you snuck in or that one mini container of fries. You will see where you need to adjust your eating habits. Get a bariatric cook book or def a low carb one. Don't get all your protein for shakes or bars actual food is not only healthier but more filling which will help with the food hunger. I also got a trainer cause I do not know how to work out being so heavy and everything hurts to the point I def want to lay in bed and cry some days. I wish you luck and I'm here for you if you need the support!

Disappointed in post-op loss so far
Veronica Page replied to Jewelgirl04's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The lower your BMI the slower the weight loss. Here are my words to you...one you ONLY lost 20lbs in your 6 month mandated diet and in two weeks you ONLY lost 20lbs? I think that is a great loss and even though we all go through these stalls I've had two so far which added up to a MONTH of no weight loss, you will lose again. Up your protein change up your workout and just be patient. So frustrating I know I cried a couple of days. I wouldn't change anything though. Also...two you might not be losing weight but check those inches. While I didn't lose lbs I did lose 17inches! Whip out that measuring tape and enjoy this journey. GOOD LUCK! -
I don't know what your doctor said to you but since I was getting in a really great amount of fluids in I was able to take in caffeine. I have not hard coffee pre say but I do drink tea. Otherwise you are going to have to learn to live. I actually still have a hard time waking up due to the fatigue from lack of food at times.

Cheater cheater, pumpkin pie eater
Veronica Page replied to AmyFromCincy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Super hard to stick with it but def do the best you can. We have all been there. The most important thing I believe is to make sure the last week you don't break down and slip back into solids before surgery. You want to be as healthy as possible def helps with recovery! Good Luck! -
@@Eli Alexander Well maybe talking was my good luck charm cause I FINALLY broke it this morning with a loss. Only 1 lb but I will take it cause it is a loss not a gain. Yay! Ugh I cried on that scale! Oh and the fish does NOT keep me full. It is crazy I eat til I'm full then in about two-three hours i'm hungry to I feel like I'm snacking or picking all day. @@Aprilhoffman78 I def can't drink OJ or any juice it is so loaded with sugar and carbs that I had it ONCE and my nut gave me a scolding like I was my 2 yr old. Mostly cause I'm diabetic but I'm jealous. All I drink is crystal light, diet decaf tea and water. Pretty boring really!
-
@@Eli Alexander Yea I did talk to my nut. she has access to myfitnesspal app. I know I need to intake more protein but she said otherwise my food intake was really quite decent. She does want me to up my protein a bit. It is getting hard for me to do so cause of two reasons. One I can't STAND the taste of those shakes anymore. Not even ones I make. Two. I can't even eat that much meat unless it is fish and I can't eat all fish cause I hate the way it taste so I'm relying on alot of vegan food which is taking some getting use to. I hope this stall truly does end soon.

Is anyone getting surgery without having insurance?
Veronica Page replied to cuchas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I will tell you I went to Mexico to get my surgery done and did my research hardcore. I definitely do not regret it and even though I'm currently in a stall feel really satisfied with my progress. The place was very helpful and felt like I was treated very well. My insurance was willing to pay to but only 50% of my surgery which still left quite a price tag. 20k to be exact. So with my out of country experience and everything I ended only spending 9500k that included hospital stay, doctor fee, hotel stay, medication and plane ticket and passport. I only suggest it cause I was so happy with my results. I wish you luck and hope you can get your journey started soon! -
Can you have Lean Cuisine and or Smart Ones, or are they too high in sodium
Veronica Page replied to LisaDomalewski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not only high in sodium. High in everything else bad. They have sugar, carbs and loaded with unneeded ingredients. It is a safer bet to just cook. I cook enough for two-three meals to save time and to take for lunch and have found online some really great bariatric lunches you can make and take to work. Lil protein boxes is what I take with deli meats and cheese and some veggies. Good luck! -
Why am i hungry 2 hours after a meal?
Veronica Page replied to bajagal101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too. I think it is a mixture of thirsty and lack of Protein. It is really hard to feel this way. Try boosting both. Drink 8oz of fluids before you even eat and get in a lil more protein. -

Veronica Page replied to cuchas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SO many of us paid out of pocket. Then again most of us oped for out of the country surgery. If your insurance doesn't pay then sometimes you have to save your own life and do what you have to do! I got a medical loan to help with mine and since it was rather an inexpensive but great experience I'm happy I was able to do it. -
I have a two yr old that weights 30lbs and I was about to lift him comfortably after two weeks. That was the recommendation from my doctor. He did stomach slam me when I was sleeping once so be careful cause I was freaking out and called my doctor I was so worried but I was fine. Good luck.
