I'm almost 3 months out (12/30/14). Today, I got on the scale and I am officially UNDER 200 pounds!!! I can't remember the last time I've seen under 200. I started the process at 257, my BMI was 41. I am more than HALFWAY to my goal!! Up to this point, I have tried really hard sticking to the foods suggested by my surgeon. I am trying to keep each meal around 200 calories with minimal snacking. I'm drinking 64 ounces of Water each day. I would still like to improve on increasing my Protein. I'm getting about 50-60g/day. I would also like to improve my exercise. I was in the gym 4x/week. But I've been slacking on that and I need to get back in there. Just so excited I wanted to share with everyone! To those who have stalled...keep at it. You'll get there!

@@weasle mama... You look WONDERFUL!!! Great job

I agree.. The first three to four weeks after surgery were probably the worst for me. I was so sick of drinking my meals..it felt like I would never be able to chew again. And the tiredness will hang on for a while. Your body has just gone through major surgery. I tried to think of it as a mini vacation and get as much R&R as I could get. But I don't regret any of it. I'm about 8 weeks out, 50 pounds gone and I feel wonderful. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Hang in there. It will get better

I have to be honest... I don't understand why people are so concerned about keeping their surgery a secret. I don't think this is something to be ashamed of. We are simply taking control of our lives and doing what's necessary to ensure a healthier lifestyle. We've spend a lot of time and a lot of money talking to doctors and doing the research... we know this isn't cheating and it's certainly not a magic wand. Why does it matter if someone else isn't as educated? I have 7 children, ages 14-25. I told them all right away. At first they didn't understand (they thought I was having liposuction..lol). But once they got it, they were very proud of me and now they're my biggest fans. In fact, they are now trying to eat healthier too! I also posted it on my FB page. I wasn't sure what the reaction would be. But everyone's comments were very positive and super supportive. I realize everyone has their own set of circumstances. This is just my opinion. I hope I haven't offended anyone.

@Thinkingthinner1109...what dosage do you take of the Biotin? And where can you buy the nioxin shampoo? I've looked around but can't seem to find it.

Any December 30th Sleevers ?!
TheBombMom replied to hootney1214's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Has anyone tried raw veggies yet? I've been eating a decent amount of cooked vegetables, but I can't remember what the rule is about raw? -
@Jennyliz... I have 4 key goals I try to hit everyday... 64oz Water 60 mg Protein 700 calories 30 minutes of exercise I'm only 2 months out, so your numbers should be a little different. I'm losing about 2 pounds a week by following this as a guide. Keep working on it! Everyone progresses differently. You got this!

@MattVanD...big week coming up for you!! Sending prayers your way. Everything will be great. Dr Smolik is wonderful! How is everyone else doing? I was doing well until this week. 7 weeks out, 48 pounds down, but I've been coming down with some viral thing.. haven't gotten to the gym at all this week. Can't wait for Spring :/

Did you develop GERD or did it get worse after VSG?
TheBombMom replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My GERD has actually been better since the surgery. I am taking omeprazole (scrip sent home with me from hospital). It must be working. But I also think my healthier diet and no coffee is helping a lot too! I hear you about the NSAID's. I have a shoulder problem I'm dealing with. My PCP has sent me to a physical therapist since I can't take any of the good stuff. It seems to be helping. I would suggest you talk to your PCP and surgeon about your concerns. Maybe the surgery will help with the back pain? -
Feel like I can eat A LOT!
TheBombMom replied to Veronica Page's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 7 weeks out. For me, it seems every day is different. I have days where I can only do 2 oz of chicken and the next day, I might be able to hit 3 or 4 oz. Same with calories. One day I might be around 600. Today, I'm not very hungry, so I may only get 300. As long as I hit my Protein and Water goal, I'm happy. -
Does anyone have a VLOG on YOU TUBE?
TheBombMom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does anyone have a channel on YouTube for their WLS? I just started one- I've only got 3 videos uploaded so far. I do have some channels that I already follow, but I'm looking for new channels to subscribe to. Anyone want to buddy up with me and subscribe to each others' channel? Here's mine: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBv9Gj3g55SkQ1BFR62daDw/videos -

Anyone have suggestions for preparing for surgery and recovery?
TheBombMom replied to Bino's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! I know it feels like forever before your surgery date gets here. Great job on planning ahead! My surgery date was 12/30/14. One suggestion I have (which really helped me) is to start now with modifying your diet. A few months before my surgery, I tried to keep my calories at around 1200. I also got a Fit Bit and downloaded the My Fitness Pal app onto my phone. It was really helpful for me to learn how to track my food and also made me aware of how fast those calories really add up! Good luck! I'm sure everything will be great for you! Sharon -
Any December 30th Sleevers ?!
TheBombMom replied to hootney1214's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Bell1980...I'm struggling with constipation too. Actually, it was a problem for me even before surgery. Have you tried Miralax? I swear by it. I take a capful at night with some type of clear liquid. (1 1/2 if it's really bad) and by the next day I'm getting better. -

I can't WAIT for the pureed stage! I've been getting about 200 calories in. Not quite at 64oz of Water yet, but I'm getting close. But at this point, I'm pretty tired of cottage cheese, refried Beans and Jello. I went shopping earlier and tried to buy things for this upcoming week. I got pudding, applesauce, tuna, salmon, cod and yogurt. Not sure how many calories I'll be able to do. Have my follow up w/ nutritionist and surgeon this week. We'll see what they say. -
Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

I haven't been on here much since I came home from surgery...and I hope this doesn't sound terrible, but I'm glad to hear everyone else is struggling just as much as I am lol. It's 10 days post op for me. I don't have alot of pain, but everyday seems so different from the last. Yesterday, I felt good, cleaned my house and walked 30 min on the treadmill. Today, I don' t feel like eating or drinking anything and I'm tired. Something else I'm tired of is this liquid diet. This week I progressed to refried beans and/or cottage cheese...but neither one seem to go down very well. The good news is I'm down 10 pounds from surgery date so I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. -

Thought I would jump in here too! I'm scheduled for the 30th. Glad to see lots of others are on the journey with me I also wanted to chime in about the Christmas activity/baking, etc. We're not doing much for xmas this year. At first I planned on baking christmas Cookies...but as xmas gets closer, I'm deciding against it. I need to be selfish this one time during xmas. It's important for me to get my head wrapped around this lifestyle change. In the long run, I know my kids would give up one holiday of cookies as opposed to less years with their mother. -
Nope...surgery is still scheduled for the 30th. Although I assume having the hernia repair will lengthen the actual procedure itself. Good luck to you as well. Sounds like we'll have alot to talk about in the next couple months

How is everybody doing? I haven't been around much. I'm a FT college student and just finished with semester finals. Last week I had my scope and Dr Smolik found a hernia. I start my liquid diet on Tuesday (12/16). It's getting so close. I have to admit, I'm getting a little nervous. Last night I sat down with the binder I got from Mercy with all the information and instructions. I feel like there is so much to remember.

Hi Weasle Mama- Thanks for the response Slowly but surely I've been trying to change my eating habits. I'm tracking all my food using the "MyFitnessPal" app and trying to stay within about 1250 calories per day. I'm drinking 64oz of Water everyday. My husband bought me a Fitbit and I'm also tracking my activity, although now with the weather, my numbers have been on the lower end. I need to come up with an alternative plan to walking outside. I'm going to the Mercy Weight Loss and Nutrition Center. My surgeon is Dr. Smolik. So far, I've been really happy with them
