I had my 4th fill yesterday, I am at 9cc in a 10 cc band. I sure hope this does it. I really can not tell right now, still on liquids sort of. (lol) My surgery was 2/9/09 and todate have lost only 20 lbs. I am glad I did not know that it is such a slow process going into this. I might have backed out. I guess some weight loss is better than none at all. I hope I am one of those people at some point can say I live my band!!! Diana Surgery date 2/9/09 Starting weight 188 Weight now 169

Hi Everyone, Thanks to all of you for posting what your are going through. I too, thought is this worth it. I have a 10 cc band. I have had 3 fills and have 8 cc. I felt somewhat restricted the first 1 1/2. Then nothing!! I can eat anything and everything. I can tell a difference when I eat too fast or big bites. Have lost 20 lbs since the surgery date 2/6/09. I have a somewhat lower bmi so I know the weight will come of slower. However it frustating when you don't lose an ounce. I go back Monday for another fill. I am just thankful that other people are experincing the same issues. Thanks guys for sharing.

What rules do you have to have to follow before a fill?
Ladydiana posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctors requires me to have a light day of eating the day before. The day of the fill Clear liquids and nothing to eat or drink 2 hours before the fill. I am wondering if this is part of the key in order to find your sweet spot. What does your doctor require you to do? -

Hi everyone, I was banded 2/5/09. I go for my first fill tommorrow. I can eat anything at this point. I have no restriction. I still try and eat healthly. I have only lost 10 lbs since 1 week before surgery. So I guess that is ok I have not gained. I am looking forward to the fill, however from reading the threads it may or may not work. I want to fill restriced. At this point I don't feel like I have had surgery. Has anyone had a fill yet? If so, do you feel restricted? I do have to be on liquids for 1 week. Been there done that! I am not looking forward to that. WE can do this!!! Right???? -
Hi Everyone, I was banded on 2.5.09. I am feeling great. I feel like I was not banded at all. I can eat and drink without any problem. And to be honest I hate it. I was already to start this journey and now I am fighting ever second not to eat just like before. I have gained 3 lbs of my post op weight loss. My first fill is not untill 3/9. My concern is that I still will be able to eat even after my first fill. I have read in the blogs that some people have to have several fills before they fill restriction. Can any of you give me some adivice or reassurance? I feelling like I spent a lot of money for nothing. I know that I need to play a big part of my weight loss but I was hoping for some help here.

Payad, Just wondering why do you think it took 3 fills to get to the point of feeling restriction? I was banded on 2/5 and feel like I could eat everthing. My first fill is 3/9. How do you communicate to the doctor in order to get to the sweet spot? Thanks to you all any advice will be helphfull.

Any recent Self Payers in Texas out there?
Ladydiana replied to alegna242's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi, I am from Dallas, and was self pay. Dr. Gonzales at Medcail City Dallas is who did my surgery for 9500. I think he takes care credit. He does his surgery in Plano and a surgery center. This includes 4 fills. He does require that you get your heart checked and Physic visit. I do have insurance that paid for those visits. My BMI was not high enough for insurance to cover it. So once I saw him, I had a surgery date with in a couple of weeks. I am 4 weeks post op and have had no problems. I get my first fill in March. At this point I don't feel like I have had surgery. Hope this helps. Diana -
Wow! Thanks so much for asking and replying to this question. I too, am having the same problems. I was banded 2/5/09 and I too am hungry all the time. When I called my doctor I was told the reason he did fill the band was so that it would heal. It is really hard on us that had the lab band to start off doing the things we need to do and the the last couple of weeks have to do things on our own untill the first fill. My doctor will not do a fill untill 6 weeks out. So I am trying to eat right and excerise and hope and pray that I do not gain the weight back. I am curious, does any one know what the average weekly or monthy weight loss should be on the lab band? Thanks Ladydiana

Biker, Good Luck!! Since you go by biker, I am going to assume you ride a motorcycle. I also ride, my passion as a 52 year old women. Can't wait to get into some cool biker cloths, get on bike and ride with the wind and not look like a man on the bike. LOL Keep us posted!!!

Oh wow, please let us know how everything turns out!

My Doctor would not let me, better ask, be safe than sorry. I am on clear liquids for the first week, and it is not easy.

Skinny, Boy Can I relate to how you feel. I am almost 1 week post op and still wonder what I am going to do with myself with out the food to fall back on. But like you I am tired of feeling out of place when I go places and see all those shinny people. We can do it. Just need to start making the right choices. You will do great.
