I did not tell any of my friends that I had the gastric sleeve because everyone has an opinion and I did not want to hear it. Everyone thinks I am on a diet and doing real well (LOL). Tell your friends that it is none of their business and to go take a hike!!!!

I was so tired the first two weeks I could not do anything. My doctor said no driving for 2 weeks either. I was home, did few things, cooked some soup but I was tired and wanted to lay down most of the time. I started getting a bit of energy after like 3 weeks, but still needed to rest for an hour or so every afternoon. It does get better. Tell your mom you are ok and send her back home!!!!

I've suffering from constipation too. I thought I found the cure when I started taking Yacult probiotic and eating an Activia yogurt every day, but it's been two days and nothing. I just got some smooth move tea and I will try it day. Being constipated make me very tired.

I cook my food with a bit of olive oil in general or a bit of butter, It depends on what I am cooking. I cook all my food tough. Sometime to give food flavor I add a cube or two (depending on the size of the pot) of chicken bouillon or beef bouillon.

I had gastric sleeve on October 8 and in my last week of puree food. The first couple of weeks after surgery I was having a lot of cravings for food that I never used to eat on a regular basis, like hamburgers, KFC, Tacos and fast food in general. Lucky this has subsided considerably and now I do not think about it. I cook most of my food and I rarely eat meat. I try to make my food fresh and nutritious. Lately it's been quite difficult for me to eat more than a couple of bites. I get full very fast and I threw up few times just after several bites. I make sure to eat slow and I am really unable to overeat but it's been happening more often. Monday I see the doctor for my second appointment. I have also had a very hard time drinking Water, the taste make me nauseous and want to vomit. I tried adding flavors but it got worse. Taking Vitamin has been quite challenging as well, I am having hard time with that. I tried several brands, liquid, gummy bears etc etc and I do not know what to do. Any suggestions and advise out there? I trust that things will get better. I should be on a normal diet next week and really worried about that.

Thanks for all the suggestions!!! Seeing both my bariatric surgeon and regular doctor tomorrow. I will suggest those meds. My doctor gave me Ondansetron for nausea but I do not think it is helping much. Water still an issue, but I keep trying. -
I don't each much meat, so I cook a lot of beans and lentils. Tips for cooking beans and lentils, soak them with a teaspoon of baking soda then wash them before cooking, it will cut your cooking time for the bean. Also, to avoid some of the gas that comes with eating beans, boil them quickly then throw away that first water, wash them and then add them to any recipe that you want. Hope this helps.

5 days post op, serious bathroom time...
teb replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had diarrhea for couple of days after surgery and called the dr's office. They said it was normal. After that came the most horrifying constipation!!!!! I think I found a way around that, I drink Yacult every night and have a Greek yogurt Activia every day. So nice to just wake up and go to the bathroom without a struggle and without taking that awful milk of magnesia!!!! -
Make home made Soup. You will at least have fresh vegetables and control the sodium and all the unnecessary chemicals and additives. I usually boil 2 or 3 kind of zucchini with tomatillo (green looking tomatoes), and one small carrot in a chicken broth then mash it all up in a puree and add tofu for Protein. If you do not like tofu, just add unflavored protein, salt and pepper to taste and may be some lemon if you can tolerate it. Nutritious and yummy. I cook all my meals and I feel that you can make a soup out of anything, just be creative, lentils (all kind and colors), Beans and vegetable. I do not eat meat and enjoy my Soups almost on daily basis. Good luck!

I so agree with you!!! I had surgery recently and the first 6 weeks I was craving, KFC, hamburgers etc etc. Somehow all of this has subsided and now I do not care about it anymore. I am having the worst time drinking Water, wish I could drink much more.
