    Am I too tight???

Thank you - Yes I did reheat the food. I think I did irritate it. I am back on liquids and the pain is still there but not as intense as it started. I hope it heals up in a couple of days. I go to see my doctor tomorrow and hope it gets better. I can drink water slowly without pain but my protein drink still has a little trouble going down without pain and the constant belching but it is getting better. I leave for Jamaica in 2 weeks and I so do want to eat some of the food there so I hope I dont have to loosen the band. Since my original band I have lost 125 pounds and I have 110 pounds left to loose. This is an amazing journey. I am so thankful for it!!!

    Am I too tight???

Two weeks ago I had a fill. I followed the Drs orders and did the 2 days liquid and the 2 days mushy. A week later I baked a chicken and cabbage and sweet potatoes. I ate it without any issues. The next day, I could not eat it without an excrutiating pain in my upper chest. I thought i had gas and ate a whole pack of rolaids and I belched for a while but could not get a real good one out. Then, today, I got some Gas-X but the only thing that goes down without pain is warm drinks, Water (very slowly) and now I can eat yogurt. Do you think I need to get an unfill. Please help

    116 lbs and trying

Since my surgery in 11/16/07, I have lost 116 lbs. Now I cant say that I was true to the diet all the way. Because I ate fried fish, fired chicken, ice cream and coffee. Now dont get me wrong, I did not do wrong all the time except coffee. I just cant give up that. Now I dont drink soda at all. In fact the only thing I drink is water (with crystal light of course). The one thing I did consistently is exercise 3 to 4 days a week. This past summer, I was able to plant all my flowers in my yard (1st time) and this last weekend, I helped my husband rake the yard (and we have a huge yard - 1/2 acre with lots of trees). Lap band surgery has changed my life. I no longer have sleep apnea and am no longer borderline hyper tension. I realize that I have to be more concious of my eating and I am scheduled to go in for a tightening next week and have vowed to do better and wondered has anyone else been in my shoes???? I still have a 138 lbs to go. But coming from 434 lbs to 318 is a nice feeling.

Has anyone else been told this?

I started out at 62 bmi and had to loose weight for the band. I have now lost 120 pounds and still loosing. It is a lifestyle change. You have to exercise. I chose the band because if I wanted to eat a piece of cake or some ice cream, I can. I just make sure that I get right back on my routine and dont punish myself for eatting the wrong foods sometime. Dont get me wrong, I basically eat very little and very good. but if I want a piece of fried fish, I have it. I may only have a half piece but I have it nonetheless. Remember,EXERCISE IS ESSENTIAL. I work out 3 days at the gym and I ride a bike in my neighborhood 3 days a week. I rest on sundays. I am consistently loosing between 2 - 4 pounds per week sometimes more. I suggest you find another doctor who has compassion.

  11. It seems to me that most people who have the band are around 100 and 150 lbs over weight. I would love to hear the experience of bandsters over 350. I was banded 11/17/07. I started out at 434 and now am down to 370 It seems to be happening fast. I try to stay under 1000 calories a day, but I do slip up sometimes. I also see my self stuffing myself when I cook something that I really like. I dont get hungry often which is good. It just seems such a long road ahead. I guess the good thing is that i am on the right road this time. I am so thankful to be able to tie my own shoes again. I can walk down the hallway and people dont hear my breathing before they see me. Who ever invented the Lap Band .....I say Thank you!
  12. I got my fill of 5 cc (I think) on 12/28 and followed the 2 day liquids, 1 day mushies and thenfood. I can eat anything. I can swallow pills (large ones) I get hungry but I eat reasonably. I had to remind myself what I was trying to do (lose weight) For breakfast I may have a sausage biscuit or a slim fast and a banana or a shake. For lunch, I have a lean cuisine or a healthy choice frozen dinner. I snack on sugar free puddings in between all meals and then for dinner I eat tuna or a turkey burger (with bread) or a lean cuisine meal. And sugar free pudding for desert. I try to stay under a 1000 calories a day. I dont get on the scale daily but my clothes are getting looser and looser. I guess I will feel better when I have more restriction and not have to psych myself out not to eat too much. Because sometimes I slip. Now if I can only get on that tread mill 20 minutes a day (I am working on that)

All of a sudden "I'm Scared!"

I was banded 11/15 and I know just what you are talking about. When the Doctors office called to give me my surgery date - I nearly lost it. I went blank. I was so scared and I wanted to back out. After all, I was paying cash for the surgery. What if it did not work. What if I was the one who would loose and then gain the weight back. What if, what if, what if. I was scared up to the point I was in the operating room. If they told me they were getting ready to give me the anesthesia, I probably would have jumped up and said forget it. but they put me to sleep without any warning and the next voice I heard was my Dr talking to my kids in college on the phone telling them it went well. I have no regrets. I have lost 39 pounds preop to now. I have not been on a scale since 11/28 and will not get on it again til 12/28 but I know I am losing pounds and definitely inches. I have a long way to go but this is one lifestyle change that I am enjoying. I look at food differently now. I am on mushies now and I only eat because I know I should. I have only felt hungry once or twice since surgery and a cup of soup took care of that. Go figure. Living to be less of me and loving to be me. Pat Pre op 434 At op 410 Post op 395 goal 250 or less who knows
