Got my date: January 21st
Fatdiva14 replied to Fatdiva14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kathy0529 I feel you. I always over pack, but this time I am going to bring as less as possible, because I don't even think I will be there long enough to change into different clothes. I am bringing a pair of pajama pants to wear under the gown they give, probably my robe because hospitals are too cold for me, toothpaste, socks, etc. It's amazing how every hospital does things differently. I didn't receive any antibacterial soap. I was just told not to put any lotion on from the waist down the morning of the surgery. I have been doing really well on the liquid diet. Though I admit I miss my cupcakes. The whey Protein mix - chocolate Peanut Butter is DELICIOUS. I caught it on sale at Walmart Sunday. It is so delicious. I think I'm going to order more from Amazon. It is on sale on there as well for $16.00 and some change. I keep thinking about all the clothes I haven't been able to wear in so long -- good thing that I will be able to wear them through the transition afterwards, before I have to go buy new clothes. I am really looking forward to a new me. Oh, by the way...What time is your scheduled surgery? Mine is at 1:00 pm. We only have 7 days to go. Woohoo! -

@@kathy0529 My appointment was the same as yours. My team says based on the leak test, I would probably be discharged Thursday. What are you going to take to the hospital? I asked about that, and was given a short list of things to make sure I had, including Gas X. I can't believe it is 7 days from now. I don't feel nervous, but I'm sure that will change next week. -

Fatdiva14 replied to Fatdiva14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kathy0529 I just left my pre-surgery appointment, and was down 2 lbs more than I anticipated. Only 8 days to go. The nurse told me not to worry, that she was confident I could loose the eight pounds by next Wednesday. Laparoscopic surgery. I've watched so many videos. It's amazing how the surgery is performed without actually cutting you wide open. -

Fatdiva14 replied to Fatdiva14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@kathy0529 I was told to loose 10 lbs before the surgery. The whole six months of nutrional classes my weight was fluctuated. At first it was stagnant then it climbed dropped and climbed again. I started the pre-op diet a week early to give me a head start, and lost 8lbs. Now I am back at 232...long pause, 'cause now the scale isn't moving anymore. I have 8-10 more to go. I increased my water intake today to see if that will make a difference. Fingers X. -

@@time4change15 Every insurance company is different. My approval came in between the Christmas Holiday. My paperwork was submitted on Dec. 16th and my insurance coordinator at the doctor's office called me on Dec. 29th to give me the great news. I'm not sure how many days in between those 13 days that it actually took since the holiday played a role in the short week for the doctor office. -
Who has had an EGD?
Fatdiva14 replied to 2NewBeginningsxoxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my test done and the H Pylori was positive for the bacteria. I am allergic to Penicillin so I was put on a cocktail of antibiotics and had to blow in two bags 4 weeks after completing the regiment. That cocktail didn't kill off the bacteria. I just finished a second round of antibiotics a few weeks ago. -
Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
Fatdiva14 replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Vikingsfan8178 I have tried every weight loss program that you can think of; including WW, succeeded in losing about 12-15 lbs, and once I lost focused, would regain the weight double what I lost. Maintaining weight loss has always been the culprit, not loosing the weight. I am very happy that you posted this question because it proves that we are all human and second guessing is normal. I thought this question several times a day before actually making the call to meet with the physician. The merry go round of weight loss gets tiring, especially when you realize that your best efforts are wasteful when you regain the weight. The weight has really affected my physical frame. My body is screaming...and not to mention its going crazy from the diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnea that I've acquired during this tumultuous love/hate relationship with my weight. Just as others have replied, I am in total agreement that the sleeve is a tool in ensuring that you achieve your weight loss goals, reminding you of your limitations and helping us all reach the maximum result that we strive to achieve. -
CALLING ANY SC SLEEVERS! MY SURGERY DATE IS...JAN. 20. IM SUPER NERVOUS NOW!
Fatdiva14 replied to realrawuncutsleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@realrawuncutsleeve I would do it now, especially since you know your date. Are you using any STD under the FMLA? I am taking the full six weeks that my doctor recommends, and will work from home the last two weeks of the six week period. The FMLA request protects your job for 12 weeks and the STD leave can coincide with your sick and vacation. -

@Is27 Congratulations! I am nervous one minute, then the next I am wishing this week and next would speed by. I started my pre-op diet early because I knew I had gained a few pounds over the holiday. I'm really supposed to start this Wednesday. However I am already down 6 lbs. I have 8lbs to go. So that is the only thing that keeps me focused and not stressing or having real anxiety about the 21st. Oh, and of course reading all the posts in the forum everyday. It is very exciting though. I still haven't mustered up enough courage to take some before pics. -

New to this and so impatient
Fatdiva14 replied to mhorton4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto to everyone's responses. I started this journey in June when I visited the Doctor for the information session. My insurance required mandatory 6 months of nutrition classes (so you are definitely luckly). My monthly visits went fast, ending in Dec. I just received my date (Jan.21) a week ago, and I gotta say, if it weren't for this for this forum, I would've pulled my hair out. Everyone in this community are so nice, helpful and supportive. I started reading all of the posts everyday until I was comfortable enough to post questions or thoughts. You will definitely learn a lot about what to expect before and after surgery. Good luck on this journey. -
