Sept 2005 bandsters post here!!
banded_for_life replied to rgfair's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is a good question. I got my first fill on Monday and I was giving 3.4 ccs. I do feel that I have some restriction, but I do feel I am relying on my willpower more than my band. But I am still on mushies and am just taking it easy until i get on solids. -
Teaspoon of dry sugar free fat free pudding improves the tast. GNC has a 100% Whey in Chocolate Carmel that is out of this world good and it has ab out 25 grams of protein. I mixed it with skim milk.

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your fill and I hope you and your band get it worked out. Hopefully just a few minor behavior adjustments will do the trick for you. After all you wanna be in tiptop shape for your fav holiday that is just around the corner.

Congratulations!!!! That is an awesome beginning!

We all have an emotional eating problem of some sort, or we probably wouldn't be in the shape we are in. I have had the band since 9/23 and am not on solids yet, so that curbs alot of what was my normal emotional eating. I still tend to get really bored and have to fight eating all the liquid sugar free stuff I have in the house. So I tend to limit what I have of that stuff in the house. But dang it...you chew a 3 muskateers up enough...it is totally liquid...darn Halloween candy!!! But to answer your question...my band needs are keeping my emotional eating in check. -
How many CCs was your first fill??
banded_for_life replied to Bensmum1109's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first fill in my VG band was 3.4 cc and I felt my band for the first time today. I will start back on mushies tomorrow, but won't be on regular food for another week. -

Please Help....extreme bagging under eyes

The Dr. thinks that I had an allergic reaction to a dye that was in my B12 pill that I was taking....not sure. Had to get a liquid steroid for 5 days to get the swelling around my eyes down. :-( -
I had my first fill on Monday and the next morning I woke up with these huge ugly bags under my eyes. I thought it was because I had not got enough sleep, even though that had never happed before. I went to bed early last night, but the bags are there and now they are even worse!!! I look horrible! Has anybody ever had this kind of reaction or have any explaination of what it could be?

Congratulations Maria!

Thanks Pam, but I think I discovered what the problem is. I think that I am having an allergic reaction to some b12 pills that I have been taking. I started taking them on Sunday and I think that they started affecting me Monday, but I didn't really notice it until Tuesday. It still didnt' connect with me that I was having an allergic reaction, even though my grass allergy does the same thing...duh!!! Only thing that I have just started taking that would effect me. -
LOL...those are hilarious!!!!!

It sounds like you are doing the right thing to me. I know how much the slow weight lost has been driving you crazy, so going back to what has worked in the past sounds like a really smart thing to do. Best wishes!

what have you done because you were embarrased of your weight?

Good post Hunzi. I can relate to not foistering my own eating problems on to my daughter. My daughter is 8 and weighs 70 pounds and stands about 4'7. She is going to be tall...yea!!! anyway...sorry got sidetracked. I do my best to make sure that she has enough Protein and not too many Snacks. I have to fight myself not to go overboard with the no snacks rule. Kids should have fun when there that age about food, we just try to find compromises, like eating wheat bread on her sandwich , but I cut it into fun shapes. Things like that. PS sorry for hijacking the thread. :-) -
Is the one of Dr. Bs patients? He needs time to heal. It took a long time for the swelling to go down...so that was my restriction for awhile. I won't say I wasn't hungry, but it was all very managiable. I knew it wasn't going to be forever. Yes, I have the VG...so it will probably take awhile to get to my sweet spot.

I was banded by Dr. B on 9/23 and I think my cuts are healing nicely. Won't be too much scaring. I couldn't take vicadin, so they gave me some other pain pill. I took 4 total and never had any backpain. It all went really smoothly. I have my scar picture on the scar picture thread.

My thing was eating candy bars and then hiding the wrappers in my car. I was so embarrassed when recently my mom helped me clean out my car how many wrappers she encountered. -

Chiming in with Vines, la-ap band...yea!!! -
I didn't really get to feel completely myself until about a week and a half. I slept in my recliner for almost two weeks until I could at least lay on one side. To this day I still can't sleep on my stomach without some discomfort. It will get better!

I am in!!! I get my first fill today in the AM. 1. Committed to losing 15 pounds by the New Year. 2. Work on not drinking while eating. 3. Walk at least 4 to 6 days a week, with some stomach crunches being added twice or more a week, starting 2nd week in November.
