I have to ask - What's the point?
banded_for_life replied to Pianoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Even though I am relying on diet right now more than restriction of my band, my band is a reminder everyday that I have to make the right food choices. It helps keep on track. I put my family through a lot in order to have this procedure done and I am determined that I am successful and I know my band will help in that arena. I also knew going in based on everything that I read my restriction may not be there at first. I am ok with that and will eventually be able to more depend on my band than a diet. However, I am still the one that has to make the decision of what goes in my mouth(well for the most part I hope)...good or bad. Hope this helps. :-) It is worth it for our future health. -
Congratulations Nickie, you go gurl! :-)

Weight-loss after first fill?
banded_for_life replied to LilAngel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 9/23 and got my first fill on 10/24 and I lost 18 pounds between those two dates. I weighed 230 the day I got my fill and I am now down to 221, so that is a loss of another 9 pounds in less than 4 weeks which beats the average. I am going in for another fill on 11/22, just because I have a VG and I don't really have any restriction. I rely heavily on dieting to achieve my results. Everybody is different and the statement "results can vary" for sure applies here. Best of luck with that first fill Angel. :-) -

Here is a new link to Jessica O's story for those that have been following her sad story with her GBS. I couldn't get the other link to work. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/profile.php?N=O1024075523

Congrats on your band date Cheri. I am sorry that you lost your friend from GBP. I can only talk about my experience with my surgery and lapband. I personally wouldn't have done anything else. I went in at 8:30 for my surgery and was home by 1:30. I took 3 pain pills over a span of 3 days and never had any real issues with gas. That is usually not typical though. My surgery happened on Friday and I was back at work by the next Wednesday. I was tired, but managed to make it through the day. Everyday got better, but the liquid phase is a real pain in the keaster, but don't push it because your band and stoma need that healing time. I haven't had any complications so far related to my band. I wish you all the best with your surgery.

Welcome home Jonathan, <big squishy cyber hug> I haven't really been here all that long, but I have been in your situation plenty of times to know what it feels like. Having a place of support in bad times is worth its weight in gold. Don't wait until tomorrow to make good choices...make a good choices at lunch and at dinner. I find I am doing well if I don't eat anything past 7 pm and drink my water. Best of luck!

The band will go on...tomorrow! Bet your bottom dollar...
banded_for_life replied to "Just" Paul's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Paul...I hear that more than once myself. I managed to lose 20 pounds prior to my surgery. Pretty soon my hubby learned to keep those kinds of comments to himself...I think the deathrays shooting from my eyes may have clued him in...lol. You are gonna do fine. -
I won't be successful if I have a sweet tooth?
banded_for_life replied to lildarlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No I don't think that is true in the least. I have a sweet tooth and have lost over 40 pounds, 25 of it since I had my band. Dr. B never asked me a thing about whether I had a sweet tooth or not prior to my surgery. He did verify that I knew what my food levels would be post band, but that was it. I have sweets just in moderation. I had been a baking mood lately and had one too many peices of my own cake, so I confronted it, dealt with it and moved on. With the band, I have to be accountable alot quicker than I would pre-band. Hope this helps. -
Congratulations!!

Paul, calm down and take a deep breath...you are having a totally normal reaction. We have all been where you are. You will get through this and it will become a part of you....natural. -
I had no idea that she has passed away when I posted the link this afternoon. Now I am in shock over it. She had been on my mind lately and I was determined to find her link...may she be at peace now and all my prayers go to her, her little boy and her family.
