I finally have a date!   It's penciled in at this point, but I received the last clearance yesterday.   I passed all the other clearances easily, which included the EKG, the Upper GI, blood, urine, stool, psychological eval.   The remaining holdout was that I was found to have sleep apnea, and the dual sleep studies and ensuing treatment set me back about 6 weeks from my goal surgery date.   But now, I'm aiming for May 18.   Fingers crossed--two or three times, even.
 
I've gone up and down in my weight all my life, diets are not sustainable, as many of you know.  After my most recent weight loss of 60 pounds in 2011, I found myself highly fertile.   My son Drake was born in 2012, and now it will be really nice when I can keep up with him at the park, on hikes, wherever.  
  I'm having surgery because I have mid-to late advanced osteo-arthritis, bone-on-bone on both knees.   
I'm having surgery because I want to chase my son.   I don't want to live my life from a wheel chair.   I want the outside of my body to be more reflective of the healthier person I've become mentally.    
 
I'm having surgery to save my life, and I am counting the days.  I'm confident that this is the right decision for me, and I look forward to increased mobility. I'm at this point now, this watershed of my life,and I'm so excited.   The next 27 days can't go fast enough.
