PatchMD vs Bariatric Advantage
shellyd67 replied to NJGuy78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have used them well over 3 months. I've had blood work once and labs were great. I did have low Vitamin D and low iron pre-op and need to take additional doses orally. I have labs again mid January so I will post those results also. I hope they are working properly because they are so much more convenient. -
Help needed after total knee surgery
shellyd67 replied to sbg224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh wow ... I'm sorry you are in so much pain. I also need to have a total knee replacement. I'm trying to buy as much time as I possibly can before having surgery. As far as exercise and staying on track goes, just do the best you can. Don't be too hard on yourself. You will be back to basics once you begin to heal, and resume your normal daily routine. -

4 months post op 84 lbs down ! ????
shellyd67 replied to shellyd67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Typical day is Protein shake for Breakfast. I currently am doing Peanut Butter banana flavored. I use banana extract and PB 2 powdered peanut butter so my shakes are 33 gms of protein each. lunch usually is Tuna fish or chicken or turkey breast and babybel light cheese. dinner is high protein meat or fish/shrimp. I drink a boatload of Water and depending on how much protein I get by dinner time, I may do another shake. I typically get 80-100 gms per day and 64 oz of water. I have nuts and fruit here and there as well. I feel great !! Good luck in your journey. ???? -
That sounds delish ????

I am four months post op and I know it is part of the journey. It hasn't started yet, but I expect it any day now. I have shorter, very thin/fine hair so this should be interesting.

I am being sleeved on 12/21/2015 – would it be a BAD idea to go the family Christmas get together? (They don’t know I am getting sleeved)
shellyd67 replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's kind of a privilege of being a male. Overweight women are pariahs--we are assumed to be lazy, have weak character, etc. I'm not telling anyone (not a single person) because people are nasty, judgmental, rude... I don't need anyone telling me how to eat, or what I should or shouldn't do about my body. For some reason though it happens all the time. "Are you sure you want to eat that?" "Have you ever bought a slow cooker? You can just fill it up with lean Proteins and vegetables in the morning and have a healthy meal at the end of the day!" "I can show you some easy workout routines." These things are always UNSOLICITED. Most recently, a blonde haired plastic Barbie approached me at target to give me her husband's business card. It was very strange but I took it and gave an awkward "thanks..." And as she walked away, I looked down to see that her husband is a Bariatric surgeon. It was this moment that did in fact inspire me to look into WLS, but not because of her recommendation (I am certainly not seeing that surgeon). But because I'm so tired of being judged by other women. I'm only 90 lbs overweight. I can't imagine how other heavier women manage. I don't want my identity to be defined by my WLS or my weight period. It is for this reason that I refuse to tell anyone. Wow !! What a b**** !! Her husband is gonna lose business with her rude tactics !! -
You go girl !! Looking good !!

Are you referring to Dr. Katz at CCMC hospital ?

Scale Obsession
shellyd67 replied to seaux_beautiful_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before my sleeve, I would go years without weighing myself. Even at a Doctor's appointment, I would somehow convince them not to weigh me. I am somewhat obsessive now. I guess I'm making up for lost time. lol -
MyFitnessPal--how do you as someone whose undergone WLS
shellyd67 replied to ididit34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it only triggers an warning if you close out your daily diary with under 1,000 calories a day(for females, for males it's a little higher).I must not be using it properly then. I'm always 800 or less. It is serving it's purpose for me so I guess I won't worry about it. Thanks ???? -
That's awesome !! Can't wait to say the same !

Do you only shop at one store i.e. Lane Bryant ? I can wear size 22 in LB now, but 18 in other stores. -

shellyd67 replied to ididit34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a really hard time figuring it all out at first, but now I use MFP everyday. I never received any feedback at all, and most days, I'm less than 1/2 of the "normal" caloric intake per day. Maybe I'm not using correctly ? Good luck???? -

Knee/Joint pain AFTER surgery and losing 20 pounds?
shellyd67 replied to Fatty McFatster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes !!! My knees seemed worse after I lost 70 lbs !! You would have thought I gained 70 lbs !! I just had synvisc shots and was in terrible pain for a few days. My activity has increased so much that my knees are constantly going. I escaped major health issues such as diabetes & heart disease but I am going to need a double knee replacement soon ... Ugh ... Hope you feel better soon !! -
Yes, too much air = too much gas. I've become used to it now.
