Saving protein drinks
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Thank you everyone!!!! I'm heading to Costco Monday to get some premier pre-mixed... I wasn't sure about the powdered/skim milk ones. I have two blender shaker bottles so that's an awsome idea - make one in the morning and keep it in the fridge and sip it through the day - it will help me keep moving too since my fridge is at the other end of the house -
Didn't read previous replies sorry if I am duplicating. BUT if you are doing more because youhave more energy then you are burning calories and need to eat more. It sounds straightforward? Especially when we eat so little now, kwim?

Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I LOVE yogurt!!! Literally love. Any and all except plain. I buy plain in the summer and add berries. Sometimes I use plain yogurt mixed with veggie dip spices and make a healthy dip. I guess there are some sugar free flavored yogurts I am going to get those. I haven't bought anything besides Chobani in a few years so I'm out of the loop. It's just cost effective to buy a big jug of plain yogurt, that's why I asked what I can add -

Her words "anything with a flavor is a no-go because it has fruit in it or added sugars"... This is for my pre-op, I'm sure at some point post op flavored yogurts would be ok. I am totally missing my pineapple Chobani -
Aside from foods/protein supplements - is there anything you needed for your wounds or anything else you can think of? I am working on my list! Thanks

Actual surgical procedure question

I was googling to see where exactly the incisions are for RNY-laparoscopic. Two things 1)googling such a thing isn't for the faint of heart, I saw some actual surgery pictures I wish I hadn't ???? 2) I see where the actual incisions are made and I am pleased because for some reason I thought they were much lower, towards the pelvic region. I have an odd/kind of gross question though, figure here's as good of a place to ask! The lowest incisions (towards your pelvic region) do they go straight through all of the belly fat? Or do they lift/prop/tape up the belly and incise under the fold? When I had my last baby they had to tape up my belly for the surgery. *MORTIFYING!!!* because she was telling me what she was going to do and why "gotta tape this big blob o' fat up so we can get your baby out" of course it doesn't matter because I assume they will put me under, before positioning my body. But then again who knows? Im starting to get jittery in case you can't tell 1/19/15 surgery date!

You'll do fine. My friend has the sleeve in sept and she is never hungry!

Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
MamaTo3inNH replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My primary doctor told me that the co-morbidities heading my way (run in my family: heart attack, diabetes, knee and hip issues) warrant getting surgery because the amount of weight needed to prevent them from happening (100+) is too much to lose and keep off long term. There are studies on how long weight can stay off and long term big amounts of weight are rare to keep away. -
Are you supposed to start a pre op diet yet? I ate like a pig through the holidays and had lots of food funerals before starting my ore op diet Monday (surgery is 1/19) Do you have food addictions? Or are you just eating badly like you always have (if that makes sense?)

Didn't Tell Work. Now It's a Problem! Calling All With Knowlege of HIPPA!

As a former HR person I can tell you that those questionnaires that temp firms have you fill out are only to help them out you in appropriate positions. If you had back surgery they aren't going to send you to a job where refilling photo copy machines and stocking kitchen cabinets are your primary duties (or they would talk to you about your abilities before hand to see if you could handle that job).... I wouldn't worry about it. -

Stage two/pre-op diet question
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talked to my NUT. This is a strict diet basically eating what you will be eating for 2-3 months post Op. No meats, veggies, or fruits unless puréed baby food style. No added sugars and low fat: -
Stage two/pre-op diet question
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't have veggies I can have yogurt, and sugar free Popsicles and pudding Hopefully this NUT gives me the ok for some food. Hell, even if it is just a few bites of chicken breast a day I'll save it and eat it before bed so I don't wake up starving. -
